It is with our deepest sadness that we report the passing of Renee Sauceda.

‘Miss Renee’ was very active in youth sports in Melvindale and was a big part of both Melvindale Junior Football and Melvindale Little League. She touched many lives and was loved by all. As director of Melvindale Junior Football Cheerleading she took the program to the next level.  She will be truly missed.

We've set the first two registration dates. This is for BOTH football & cheerleading

They will be:

Sunday May 20th 1pm-3pm

Thursday June 14th 6:30p-8:30pm

Registration will be at our practice facility, McGinty Park on Robert St & Coleman St.

Cost is $100 for your first child and $75 for each child after that. For verified 5th year MJFB players or cheerleaders the cost is $50. Verified 6th year MJFB players or cheerleaders are FREE.

Be sure to bring the following:

1) Original Birth Certificate

2) A copy of Birth Certificate

3) A copy of your medical insurance card, front & back

4) A copy of your parent or guardian's drivers license or state ID

5) A completed physical form dated AFTER April 15th 2012.

Melvindale Junior Football in conjunction with Melvindale High School will be hosting a Youth Football Camp this summer at Cardinal Stadium.

Open to all students grades 4-8 (as of this fall)

The camp will be held June 26, 27 & 28th, 6pm-8pm each day.

Registration begins at 5pm at Cardinal Stadium

The cost will be $20 per participant. This includes a camp t-shirt & pizza dinner the last day of camp.

We are looking for people of all ages that would be interested in participating in a Pie Eating Contest to be held at Melvindale Days this summer.

Two big changes have been adopted for all of Downriver Junior Football starting with the 2012 season.

1) The weight limits have been raised in all three divisions.

New limits are- Varsity= 160lbs, Junior Varsity= 135lbs, Freshman= 115lbs

2) Downriver Junior Football will now have three Superbowls that will pit the Peanut Bowls Champions from each division against each other.

Both of these changes are things that we at Melvindale Junior Football have long been pushing for, so we're very happy about this.

The tenative 2012 schedule has been released.

This will be our road to the Peanut Bowl!

September 16- at Dearborn Heights

September 23- at Lincoln Park

September 30- Home vs Southgate

October 7- at Washtenaw Blue

October 14- Home vs Wyandotte

October 21- at Dearborn Tractors (crossover)

October 28- Home vs Taylor Cobras

The Melvindale Cardinals won the Downriver Junior League Football NFC Freshman championship last weekend with a 33-26 victory over the Dearborn Lions at Carlson’s Marauder Stadium.

The team is Jason Gabbard, Vincente Jackson, Joshua Corless, Isaiah Luna, David Carter, Jr, Mateo Balderas, Alontae Davis, Jason Hamovitz, Malachi Jones, Nathan Wallace-Legree, Joel Madrigal, Marcus Smith, Alex Rodriguez, Parker Anderson, Nicholas Patton, Hunter Puckett, Cody Maggard, Quinn Hess, Carson DeCaire Benecio Zarazua, David George, Dominic Nagy, Brennan Dupuie, Dominic Zacker, Julian Sierra, Brendan Graff, Amari Black, Matthew Paquette, Kyle Vasquez, Jacob Paulson and Franklin Goins.
