2013 Memorial Day Tournament Registration

Memorial Day Weekend Tournament

Medway Youth Baseball has again been invited to enter a couple of teams in a Memorial Day weekend tournament in Mendon with Mendon, Upton, Blackstone and Hopedale this year.  We will be hosting some games on Friday and Saturday in Medway. The games would take place Friday through Monday (May 24th - May 27th).  It would involve at least 4 games and as many as 6. The cost to enter would be $40 per person including a hat and shirt.

Due to the conflict withe Medway Cup, we ask that you honor commitments to play in that tournament before signing up for this one.  (Without knowing the schedules of the two tournaments, we can not guarantee the ability to play in both)

Players must currently be 9, 10, 11 of 12 (born after May 1st, 2000) to participate. This is not an all star tournament and registrations  will be based on a first come first serve basis.  Please fill out the form below to register.

Tondorf/Sizzler Tryout Announcement

Open tryouts for the Tondorf and Sizzler summer tournament teams will be held at Cassidy Field.

There will be two tryouts, one on Saturday, May 18th and another during the week of May 20th.

The schedule for the open tryouts is:

1st Tryout– Saturday, May 18th

7:45 AM.  -MYB 12 Year Olds (Playing as a 12 year old in Majors)
9:00 AM - MYB 11 Year Olds (Playing as an 11 year old in AAA/Majors)
10:15 AM - MYB 10 Year Olds. (Playing as a 10 year old in AAA)
11:30 AM -MYB 9 Year Olds (Playing as a 9 year old in AA)

2nd Tryout – week of May 20th

12-year olds – Monday May 20th @ 7PM
11-year olds – Tuesday May 21st @ 7PM
10-year olds – Wednesday May 22nd @ 7PM
9-year olds – Thursday May 23rd @ 7PM T

The full selection process for all these teams will be a combination of the tryout evaluations and Manager voting. It is very important that all parents/players understand the way each of these tournaments is run and the commitment required to be a member of one of these teams. The MYB Board understands that other activities including vacations and other baseball programs such as AAU can compete with these tournaments. However, in order to be fair to all involved the attendance guidelines must be agreed/adhered to in order to play on one of these teams.

Please refer to the Tournament overviews available in the MYB Yearbook or on the MYB web site under “Handouts” for a full description and commitment details. I t is extremely important you read and understand this information before your child attends the tryout.

NOTE:

1. Similar to last year, we will be fielding 8 teams – two in each age division (9, 10, 11, and12).

2. Please remember that once again the Upper Charles Summer League will also be available for any players who choose not to tryout for Tondorf or Sizzler and for those who are not placed on a team. The Upper Charles Summer Baseball League is an inter-town league (weekdays only) focused on fun and building skills. This is also a good option for those players unable to make the dedicated summertime commitment to the Tondorf or Sizzler teams.

3.Players that are “Playing up” with their grade (late birthdays in May, June, July and August) must only tryout for that age group.



Gift Card Fundraiser 

Medway Youth Baseball Families,

This year we are offering a new fundraiser.  We are giving our baseball players the opportunity to raise funds selling gift cards to a few local businesses, two at a discounted price.  Medway Youth Baseball will receive $10 for each gift card sold, and the money will be put directly into projects to improve Medway’s baseball program for player and their families.  For example, this fall we are hoping to build a fully functioning rest room facility at Cassidy Field!  Players can sell as many gift cards as they would like, there is no limit. 

Please see the attached gift card order form for the cards available to sell, and their restrictions, if any.  Each form can be turned in to your manager, team parent or at Rooney’s.  Please be sure to include the sellers name and team and/or coach’s name.  Checks can be made payable to Medway Youth Baseball.

2013 Senior Babe Ruth Registration & Tryouts

 Medway participates in the Central Mass Senior Babe Ruth Summer Baseball League. This is a competitive league consisting of 11 surrounding towns. The season starts in early June and playoffs ends at the beginning of August. If there are too many players registered, there will be tryouts for the team.

Any player under the age of 19 by the first of May of each year will be eligible to play in the League.

A player must be 15 years of age by the first of May of each year to be eligible to play in the League. (Babe Ruth is also an option for 15 and 16 year olds)

Registration payment and a COPY of a PHOTO ID or Birth Certificate (or license/permit) are due: MAY 27, 2013

 Tryouts for Sr Babe Ruth will be held Saturday May 18h at 11:00 AM and on Sunday May 19th at 11:00 AM at Idylbrook.

Medway participates in the Tri-Valley Babe Ruth Summer Baseball League. This is a semi-competitive league consisting of 7 surrounding towns. The season starts in early June and ends the first week of July. Playoffs begin in the second week of July and end in the last week of July. The league is divided into two divisions: Minors and Majors. Each team normally plays about 14 games.
 
League rules stipulate that a player must participate in at least 9 games to be eligible for the playoffs. The league also requires that the individual towns balance the talent amongst the teams so as to not create “All Star” teams. There are league minimum requirements of six outs in the field and at least one at bat and these are enforced by Tri-Valley baseball. Because the talent levels in the league are usually high these minimums can and most likely will be utilized at the discretion of the individual managers to meet the competition.
 
Age requirements:
Minor League: He or she must not turn 14 before July 31st, 2013
Major League: He or she must not turn 17 before July 31st, 2013

2013 Farm Summer League

 

Medway Youth Baseball will again participate this year in a summer baseball league for Farm aged players. This is a recreational league for players of all skill levels who wish to continue to play baseball after the completion of the spring season. There are no tryouts required. Any player in Farm League is eligible to play in this league. This is a coach pitch/kids pitch league.

 

The League consists of teams from Medway, Upton, Mendon, Hopedale and Blackstone. Games are played on weeknights from the week of June 22nd through the end of July. Each team will play at least 10 games, there are no playoffs. Some games will be played at the McGovern School; away games will require travel depending on the opponent.

 

Depending on registration numbers, we plan to submit at least 2 teams into the league.

 

The registration fee is $50 per player. The registration fee is not required during registration, but will be collected prior to the start of games. The registration fee will be collected prior to the start of the season once the rosters have been set.

2013 Upper Charles River Baseball League Registration

Upper Charles River Baseball League 

Medway Youth Baseball will again participate in the Upper Charles River Baseball League (UCRL) in 2013. This is a recreational league for players of all skill levels who wish to continue to play baseball after the completion of the spring season. There are no tryouts required. Any player in AA, AAA or Majors (or any 9, 10, 11 or 12 yr. old that did not play spring baseball) is eligible to play in the UCRL.

The Upper Charles River League consists of teams from Medway, Holliston, Hopkinton, Dover-Sherborn, Westwood and Medfield. Games are played on weeknights from late June to early August. Each team will play a 10 game season. Cassidy fields are not used in the UCRL due to the MYB Tondorf Tournament so all UCRL games require travel.

There are 2 divisions (9/10 and 11/12) in the league based upon age. We plan to submit at least 3 teams as we did last year.

The registration fee is $70 per player. This fee is used to cover the costs of the fields, uniforms and umpires. The registration fee will be collected prior to the start of the season once the UCRL rosters have been set.

It is important to note that the UCRL registration process is separate from the Tondorf and Sizzler process. If you intend to play baseball this summer, you should complete a UCRL registration form. You do not have to pay the $70 fee to register for the UCRL. If you tryout for a Tondorf and Sizzler Team, but are not placed on one of those teams, you are NOT automatically placed on a UCRL team unless you have submitted an UCRL registration form.
