Welcometo our page to pass on updates from West Deptford New Jersey. District 3 umpire, Troy Lare is working the tournament and will be sending updates.

Thursday, August 4
It's hot down here!
We arrived on 8/4 to a nice cool 96 degrees. Oh yeah, the humidity is very high too. We are staying in the same hotel as the teams. We have met up with the Maine winners (Auburn-Suburban) and wish them luck.

2 games today.
I had the opening game at the plate. It was between the host West Deptford and Rhode Island. Deptford won easily. When we stepped onto the field it was 95 degrees and very humid.
Game 2 New Jersey vs Massachusetts New Jersey wins this game. When we left the field after 10 PM is ws a cool 83 degrees.
The games have been pretty well played, just lots of nerves for the first day.

To check out scores of the games, go to the official web site. To see up to the minute game updates check out  great site. This is updated on every pitch of the game and live.

Good day of baseball here in New Jersey. Had a couple of good games, and a couple of bad ones. The guys from Auburn lost their first game. They play on Sunday at 2. One of the Auburn guys hit the first home run of the series. After that, it was a free for all - lots of them were hit.
The third game today went 10 innings, Ct came out on top. It was tied u with a home run in the bottom of the seventh.
The game I did saw the first grand slam of the series.
Oh yeah it was 86 degrees on the field when our game started a little after 9.
For ll of the results, check out the host's web site.

Sunday 8/7
Had today off.

Only 2 games today, both games in the loser bracket. Looks like Maine (Auburn) and Rhode Island are out.

Went up to a Phillies game. Quite a stadium! The Phil's lost 2-0 to the Brewers.

Heat is finally breaking.

I work the 10 AM game tomorrow on second base - West Deptford NJ vs Glauster Mass.

Worked the first game of the day at 10:00. West Deptford NJ (host) was beaten easily by Mass. West Deptford has been eliminated. Worked second base, and stayed really busy. The heat was really oppressive, even for that time of day!
Working with some great guys from the local district, and 5 guys from out of the district. The only out of staters are: me, 1 from Pa, 1 from Maryland, 1 from New Hampshire.

Rain delay

Well this day of games was really confusing. A massive rain storm came through last night (as a matter of fact they cancelled the last 2 games of the day).

The ground crew did an amazing job of getting 2 fields in great plying shape by noon. They expected rain, so they played 2 games at once. I worked the first game on the regular field. They got all 4 games done and we are back on schedule.

There were 3 games today. I worked the first 2 at first base. It was really hot, but the humidity wasn't too bad out there.

They have the championship game teams set. The undefeated team is New Jersey and they are playing Pennsylvania.

The game assignments came out for the championship game, and I have been assigned first base. Sounds good to me! This weather, the plate job is really hot. I am the only non-local in the infield and only 2 of the 4 out of state guys got assigned.

Thursday 8/11
Championship game today at 5:00 PM.I was assigned first base. New Jersey won in the bottom of the seventh with 2 outs man on second and an 0-2 count on the batter. It was the best game of the tournament! The New Jersey kids are good kids, and I think that they will fit in very well this year. They are not the team they were last yer, but should do good, from what I saw this past week.

It is time for me to sign off, and come home.

A huge thank you to NJ District 15, the tournament crew and especially to the umpire crew for a great week and a great time! You can be proud of what you are doing for the kids!
