INJURIES AND BLEEDING
In the event of injuries, notify one of the coaches or team moms immediately.
In the case of bloody noses or other bleeding injuries, gauze, cotton, and other first aid supplies are maintained by one or more coaches.
All blood must be cleaned off wrestlers and the mat area affected with paper towels and disinfectant.
NO STREET CLOTHES OR JEWELRY ALLOWED!
To prevent injuries to other wrestlers and damage to the wrestling mats, wrestlers should remove all watches, jewelry, and street clothing - these usually have rivets, zippers, buckels, and other sharp surfaces that can cause serious damage to foam rubber or human flesh.
HORSEPLAY (GOOFING-OFF) PROHIBITED!!!
Goofing-Off or Horseplay is often the cause of many injuries in wrestling rooms. Practices are for working on conditioning, learning new moves, and improving one's techniques, and should be done only when there is qualified supervision to make sure it's done correctly and safely.
Occassionaly, the coach may schedule games and other non-wrestling activities, but these are conducted in a supervised environment, and with specific rules to minimize injury.
SPECTATORS REMAIN BEHIND YELLOW LINE
Spectators are asked to remain behind the safety boundary line, which has been placed approximately 10 feet inside the wrestling room. This yellow line separates spectators from wrestlers to ensure that our wrestlers:
#1 Are in a protected environment
#2 Are provided with the space they need to do their best.
WARM UP BEFORE PRACTICE OR MATCHES
In order to avoid injury, it's important that wrestlers stretch-out and warm-up before practice and/or tournaments.
Most muscle injuries the result of not preparing your body for strenuous activity.
When stretching or doing excercises, do them correctly; failure to do so may result in serious injury.
If you arrive late to practice, take a few minutes to loosen-up your joints and muscles before wrestling.
