Game Updates:
5/29 - Rockies roll over first place Cardinals of West Medford 6-2.
5/29 - Red Sox fall to the Dodgers of North Medford 7-6. The Sox fought back to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning when Cameron Quinlan had a clucth hit with the bases jammed. Unfortunetly, the Dodgers pushed across a run in the bottom half of the inning for the win.
5/24 - The orioles were thin at pitching, so their hopes rested on the arm of starter Colin Deangelis. Colin came through in the clutch tossing five innings. Meanwhile the offense took care of the rest, as they went on to defeat the Dodgers of North Medford 13-12. Slugger Alex Dorcean connected for his third home run, and later in the game almost hit another as the ball struck the top of the outfield fence. Pat Cooney, Geo Robinson and Kevin Casey all had big hits to score runs, and perhaps the biggest hit came from the bat of Fred Pompken. Pompken hit a bases loaded double to score the winning runs. Thomas Connearney also stole his seventh base of the season.
5/24- The first place Rockies stumbled last night, failing to score a run, as they lose to the Red Sox of West Medford 9-0. Sox lefty pitcher Harry Welch dominated the Rockies hitters all night giving up only two hits in the win.
5/24 - The Red Sox traveled to Gillis Park to take on the first place Yankees of North Medford. The Sox jumped on Yankee pitchers in the first inning and never looked back, on their way to a convincing 9-0 shutout. Sox starter John Dakermanji punched out 16 Yankee batters in the win.
5/24 - The streaking Astros fell victim to the Dodgers 11-8 on Thursday night.
5/24 - Mets Pitcher Julian Jarvis kept the Braves bats quiet, while Matt Mitchell, Shawn Nestor and Bobby Norton supplied the offense to help carry the Mets to a 21-8 win at Drane Field.
5/23 - West Medford A's get the better of the Dodgers 5-3 on a damp Wednesday night at Columbus Park. Coach Gallagher explained that "if you can't hit the ball out of the infield, you won't beat anyone". Gino Desimone and Devin Gallagher pitched two scorless innings each, recording a total of nine strike-outs.
5/21 - The Dodgers went up against the North Medford Dodgers at Gillis Park on Monday, with MNLL Dodgers winning 13-2. The Dodgers offense was sparked by Gino Desimone, who went yard for the fourth time this year. Dodgers batters pounded out 13 runs. Led by Devon Gallagher, Tony Fiorentino, and Phil Byers two hits each. Ryan Normile pitched four innings to get the win.
5/20 - On Sunday the Astros defeated the Mets 10-9 at Drane Field. The loss was the first of the year for the Mets.
5/19 - Frank Connearney, Manager of the Orioles said that his team beat the Dodgers on Saturday. No other details available.
5/19 - The Rockies "bash brothers" Aiden Park and John Keating both hit home runs today as they chase each other for the MNLL Home Run Crown.
5/19 - Mets pitcher Shawn Nestor tossed four innings and recorded 8 strikeouts, enroute to a 13-2 victory over the Cubs of North Medford. The balanced attack from the Mets offense contributed to the 13 run onslaught.
5/18 - Under the lights, in the Friday night game of the week, the Dodgers fell victim to the Red Sox 11-3. Swinging the hot bats for the Sox were, Chris Gatti, Tyler Quinlan and Robert Cunningham. Pitcher John Dakermanji was the beneficiary of the run support, as he went the distance for the win.
5/17 - In Minor league action at Columbus Park, the Mets squeaked past the Astros 12-8, with Bobby Norton leading the offense for the Mets, with four hits in four plate appearances. Norton also hurled 3 innings in the game. The Dodgers went on to defeat the the Braves in the other Minor game. The Major league game at Columbus had the Orioles bowing to the Rockies 7-3. John Keating pitched five innings for the win.
5/16 - Dodgers clean-up hitter Gino Desimone hit a three run bomb to break-up a no hitter, but the Dodgers go on to lose 11-3 against the Red Sox. Chris Gatti of the Sox had a no hitter going until the fifth inning, he was replaced after reaching his pitch limit.
Mike Valente of the Rockies hit his first home run of the year helping his team go on to defeat the Orioles 6-5 on Wednesday, at Columbus Park. Relief pitcher Rocco Pucillo Jr. took the mound in the sixth inning and recorded two strikeouts. Daniel O'Donovan of the Rockies made a tremendous catch on a screaming line drive with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to help secure the win. Also in the game, Aiden Park added two home runs to take the lead in the Majors with 5.
5/13 - After scoring a season low 1 run on Saturday, the Orioles bats awoke to pound the Red Sox 13-2.
Leading the onslaught for the Orioles were Fred Pompken who went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and knocking in three runs, while Alex Dorcean clubbed his second home run on the year. Starter Colin Deangelis of the Orioles pitched 4 innings limiting the Red Sox to only two runs. Relief pitcher Thomas Connearney took the hill in the fifth inning and teamed up with Dorcean to close out any hopes of a Red Sox rally.
5/12 - The Mets of MNLL continued sharing the title with the Cardinals of WMLL as "the only undefeated Little League teams in Medford" when they rolled over the Red Sox of North Medford 10-3 at Drane field.
5/12 - In a game, quoted by Minor League Dodgers Manager Bill Litchman as "A fun game to watch", the Dodgers played to a 7-7 tie against the Phillies of North Medford at Gillis Park.
5/12 - The Red Sox score two runs - turns out to be enough as they beat the Orioles in a pitchers duel 2-1 at Columbus Park. The Sox boast the best pitching staff in the league led by starter John Dakermanji. The entire staff have only allowed about three runs per game heading into their match-up with the Orioles on Sunday morning. The Sox defense deserves a lot of the credit, as they have played mistake free in the field handling all the routine plays to go along with some phenominal ones as well.
5/12 - Rockies handed a victory as Dodgers collapse defensively.
Commiting nine errors is not a recipe for success against a potent line-up that the Rockies bring to the table. They capitalized on the Dodgers miscues to score 11 runs, 9 of which were unearned, as they go on to win 11-8. Perhaps the best performance goes to the Dodgers pitching staff, as they were able to hold the Rockies powerful lineup in check for the better part of the game striking out 9 batters. Although Aiden Park did connect for his third home run, tying for the league lead. Coach Gallagher was without some of his top players due to scheduling conflicts, but the remaining players did well to almost defeat the Majors top team this year.
5/10 - On Thursday evening the Rockies slugged their way to victory over the North Medford Pirates 11-0 under the lights at Columbus Park. John Keating had four hits in four trips to the plate, including his league leading third home run. After making some adjustments to their swings, Rockies Manager Joe Steeves was proud to see his instruction pay off, as Jacob Whisler and Mike O'brien hit their first home runs of the year. The Rockies will try to keep it going against the Dodgers on Saturday, 2:30, at Columbus Park. While embattled Dodgers Manager Dave Gallagher will try to rally his troops to victory on Saturday sending Devin Gallagher to the hill against the leagues most potent offense.
5/7 - Nick Cornay of the Dodgers used his speed to touch all the bases, registering the second inside-the-park home run hit at Columbus Park this week. Nick helped his team squeak by Orioles 6-5, and knocking them out of first place.
5/7 - Rockies starting pitcher John Keating hurled six strong innings, striking out 8 and allowing only one run, against the Red Sox. While teamate Aiden Park hit his second HR tying him for the Majors HR lead. The Rockies went on to defeat the Red Sox 3-1 in action at Columbus Park Monday night. With the victory they now sit in first place, percentage points ahead of the Red Sox.
5/3 - Red Sox player Robert Cunningham legged out an inside-the-park home run Thursday at Columbus Park. Robert's HR helped propel his team to victory over the Pirates.
5/3 - Rockies players double trouble for West Medford A's -
In his first game back from an injury, Aiden Park of the Rockies goes yard for his 1st HR of the year. while teamate John Michael Keating slams his 2nd HR in the Rockies victory at Santoro Field.
5/2 - Gino Desimone of the Dodgers, goes yard for the 2nd time this season in a loss to the North Medford A's at Columbus Park.
5/2 - Alex Dorcean of the Orioles, crushed one over the fence at Santoro Field vs. the West Medford Cardinals.
4/21 - Gino Desimone of the Dodgers was the first player to knock one out of the yard, as he hit the first home run of the season on opening day, helping to defeat the Red Sox!
4/28 - John Keating of the Rockies hit a "grand slam" to seal the victory for the Rockies.
Way to go boys!!
