ABOUT THE MEDFORD BABE RUTH LEAGUE - SPRING SEASON

Medford Babe Ruth Spring League consists of 2 Divisions - American League & National League - each with 5 - 6 teams made up of 12 - 15 players.

The American League is made up of 14 and 15 year olds selected at a draft following the tryout - performance at the tryout and the prior season as well as team positioning needs are the basis for selection to the American League. The National League is made up of all the incoming 13 year olds and any 14 and 15 year olds not in the American  League.  All incoming 13 year olds play their first year in the National League and in their second and third year are eligible to tryout for the American League.  14 and 15 year old players may chose to play in the National League or try out for possible selection in the American League.  All new players and returning National League players must attend the tryout/evaluation so that competitively matched teams can be selected in both leagues. In both leagues ALL players are in the batting order in EVERY game and can be brought in and out of the game at anytime.

The season will generally run from early April to mid June including playoffs.  Practices will start in early April (weather permitting). Teams will each play 15 games plus playoff games. All teams are made up of players from Medford (about 150) and all games are played at Medford parks - no traveling.

All players are covered by Participant Accident Insurance.  The player participation fee includes uniform shirt, hat and socks (players must provide their own gray pants) as well as insurance, umpires, balls, catchers equipment.    Metal or rubber cleats are allowed.  Players are encouraged to provide their own bat and batting helmet.

Players of all abilities will find that Medford Babe Ruth will provide an opportunity to improve their baseball skills while having fun playing the great game of baseball with their friends and other players from Medford.
