AGE DETERMINATION

**PLEASE NOTE- THIS IS NOT A MECHANICSVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE ADJUSTMENT, IT IS DIRECTED BY LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL**

As a result of this recent adjustment to the implementation strategy, effective immediately, any player born on or after January 1, 2006 who will turn the ages of 4-9 during the 2015 calendar year will be eligible to participate in a local Little League program and will use the new age determination date of December 31 for the reminder of their Little League career. Players will still be assigned to a division based on local league divisional structure.

JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP OCT NOV DEC AGE
2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011 4
2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 2010 5
2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 6
2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 7
2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 2007 8
2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 2006 9

Consequently, players born prior to January 1, 2006 will continue to utilize the current age determination date of April 30 for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons. In 2018 all players born prior to January 1, 2006 will begin utilizing December 31 as their age determination date. The majority of concerns will surround the fact that a 2015 league age nine (9) year old will be 10 in 2016, 11 in 2017, but in 2018 will effectively be league age 13 and will advance out of the major league division. All players represented within the chart below will all use the December 31 date beginning in the 2018 season.

As stated, with this implementation strategy adjustment the impact on our players will be reduced, with the exception of a marginal impact on players currently participating in the very early stages of their Little League career. Furthermore, our continued focus on fun, fitness and fundamentals at the Tee Ball Division will assist local leagues as they look to provide a smooth transition to the Coach/Machine Pitch divisions of play while still developing a passion for the game as well as focusing on skill development.

SIGNS AND BANNERS: BUSINESS OWNERS WANTED

The Mechanicsville area is growing every day. If you or know someone who owns a business in the area, MLL is the place to advertise. Each spring MLL has over 2000 people coming in and out of the complex on a weekly basis. Each field has signs displayed on the outfield fence. These displays will help support the business and also help MLL. The designs are created by the business. The advertising forms are found in the Handout section. If you would like to order a sign or have further questions, please contact Clay Dillard at 337-7805.

BINGO AND BINGO LOT PARKING: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Did you know that Mechanicsville Little League runs Bingo?  On Thursday Nights from 5pm - 10:30pm, MLL volunteers work Bingo.  MLL is the only Little League in the area who provides this entertainment.  The income from Bingo allows us to keep registration costs down.  We also need volunteer workers to sell "instant tickets" during Bingo. Instant Tickets are sold for $1.00 per ticket. If you want to learn more about Bingo, contact Chuck Boyle at cbhokie24@aol.com.

On Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the Bingo Lot is closed to the Little League until 7:30 P.M.  On Saturday, all Little League cars must be out of the Bingo Lot by 12 P.M. If you have a game at 1 P.M. or later, please park in the grass parking lot by fields 1,2,and 3.  If you have a Handicap License plate or an official Handicap sign, you can park in the Bingo Lot. Bingo provides MLL with the majority of the funds needed to operate the Complex, equipment and helps keep your registration fees down.
