COLTS PULL OUT 2 VICTORYS IN DRAMATIC DOUBLE HEADER SUNDAY
COLTS 15
SCORPIONS 12
The Glen Burnie Colts coached by Cottrell Wesson pulled out 2 dramatic victories in their contests Sunday against the Reisterstown SCORPIONS and Catonsville OUTLAWZ.
The first match-up pitted the Colts and Scorpions in which the rubber game of the season was for first place. the Scorpions had defeated the Colts in their first contest 6-0 and the Colts prevailed in their second match 18-0.
The Scorpions struck first in the game as QB Tony Davis hit his WR on an underneath pass for a 40y gain. A few runs later RB Alvin Booze scored on a 5y sweep juking 2 Colts defenders to paydirt.
With QB John McGraw's back tight H-Back Dave Mitchell had to lead the first Colts series in which he hit TE Rob Elliott on a 55y pass to get inside the Scorpions 10. Unable to capitalize the Colts settled on a 30y FG from Jeremy "Vanderjagt" Palguta to cut the lead in half.
On the Colts 2nd series QB John McGraw came in to hook up on a 65y scoring strike to Adrian King to make it 9-6 Colts as they were unable to convert the extra point.
It remained 9-6 as the Colts were held back even after a beautiful diving 50y catch by RB Isaac Hand to get inside the Scorpions redzone.
With 10 minutes left in the game the Scorpions put together a nice drive capped by a 40y run by Noel Duhalney putting the Scorpions up 12-9.
Both defenses got stingy the next alternating series as the Colts got the ball back with just over 2 minutes to play as veteran QB McGraw started the charge down the field. However, the Scorpions defense tighten up as the Colts got across mid field and Glen Burnie found themselves with a 4th down and 20 at the Scorpions 40y line. McGraw staying cool under pressure stepped up through the pocket and hit King who adjusted his post corner route, down the seem making the grab across the goal line to give the Colts a 15-12 lead.
The Colts laxed on the ensuing kickoff as Duhalney returned it to the Colts 30y line. The Colts defense held on third down as King picked off Davis and the Colts took a knee to end the game.
The win gave the Colts sole possession of first place and an inside bye on a first round bye in the playoffs at 7-1, while marking the Scorpions record to 6-2.

COLTS 9
OUTLAWZ 7
After an elated first victory, the Colts found themselves in a real dogfight in their second match of the day. The Colts look to have things in "hand" jumping out to an early 6-0 lead on a 1y slant pass from John McGraw to Isaac Hand. However, the Outlawz came back on a misdirection play catching the Colts inside and getting down to the 10y line in which they ran it in on a left sweep from there.
The stubborn Outlawz defense held the rest of the half and the whole second half as Colts kicker Jeremy Palguta barely missed a 38y FG which sailed just a few inches over the goal post and then had another 35 yarder blocked with just over 6 minutes to go in the game. The Colts put up a barrier on defense lead by the hard outside rush of LB Eric Defelice in which he had 3 sacks.
The Outlawz seemed to shoot the Colts right in the foot as a missed pass for a first down and a holding penalty and an interception sent Glen Burnie reeling. An estatic bunch of Outlawz became more enthusiastic as they got the ball back after the second missed FG attempt. However they could not convert a first down and had to punt with just over a minute remaining from inside their 20y line. PR Isaac Hand returned the ball 12y just inside Catonsville territory with just :39 seconds remaining. With only 1 TO and an intense Oulawz defense in front of him, veteran QB Dave Mitchell started a game winning drive which consited of a 6y pass to Hand, a 12y scramble of his own, a 15y pass to Eric Defelice, a 5y dump to Stacy "Twin" Stropshire. Down to the 8y line on 3rd down, Mitchell was calmly going up to center to spike the ball in order to stop the clock and give Palguta a chance to pull it out. The Outlawz panicing called TO with :08 seconds remaining giving Mitchell a last shot at the endzone in which he failed to execute to TE Rob Elliott on a quick down and out pass play. With only 1 tic remaining, the Colts lined up for the game winner from 26 yards out. Aaron Dixon-Proctors snap was right on the money to Mitchell as Palguta blasted a shot straight through, splitting the uprights and sending the once young overjoyed Outlawz to a bitter defeat that they let slip through their lassos.
Seasoned Colt Coach veteran Cottrell Wesson quoted after the game as saying "I remember the line from Terminator 3, where the terminator (after John Connor says " I don't want this burden of the future placed upon me") picks up John Connor by the throat and says "your right I don't need you". Then realizing his ultimatum Connor says "alright!". The terminator in turn says "there, now you can be courageous out of fear, not of cowardness". QB Dave Mitchell added "The same applys to veteran players when they are faced with situations such as we were. You need to embrace that fear of losing as your strength, not buckle under the pressure but yet enhance it to make you sharp. Time, practice, experience and focus helps you become the master of yourself while keeping an even-keel attitude. Rookie or inexperienced players tend to let their emotions control them and they become either too high or too low and can often lead to a teams demise in a big game, where 1 play can and often does make the difference. Most of all you have to have FAITH. Faith in the abilitys God has gifted you, faith in your teammates that they can get it done. I do congradulate the Outlawz and Coach Dewey Graham on their obvious improvement over the season and hope they will continue their perseverence towards success". The win put the Colts at 8-1, while the Outlawz fell to 2-6.

Both teams had trouble moving the ball. But it was the Colts miscues that made the difference. On their first drive, the Colts had had a botched punt attempt, a big misread on a Dave Mitchell to William Blue pass on their second drive. Three drives inside the Scorpions 20y line, one which QB Dave Mitchell was picked off in a fade pattern to the corner to WR Eric Defelice, another picked off over the middle in the endzone attemted to William Blue, and a William Blue interception that resulted in Scorpions DB Alvin Booze to retuen the only TD of the game 85y for the games only score.
The Colts also had 4 other drives twarted, as they had 2 dropped passes for first downs and 5 false start penalties which broke the rythm of substantial drives, one which was inside the 5y line.

After several weeks of alot of hard work (phone calls, running around getting uniforms, getting field equipment, reviewing with officials and players, etc. etc.) things finally came into fruition Sunday.
I was very pleased with the conduct and attitude of players from all 4 Teams and Coaches/Captains Alvin Booze, Dewey Grim, James Powell and my own Coach, Cotty Wesson.
I know I compromised my integrity somewhat by letting the Bison-Terror and James Powell play in black shorts the first week, but his supplier gave him different color pants on Saturday and he had players traveling from Virginia. He will have all his players all in football pants by this Sunday or he knows he can't play. James did make it known to me, he has learned not to wait to the last day to make sure all his equipment is in order.
I received alot of good compliments on the Officials, Paul Sneeringer, Richard Pusniak, Wayne Bunk.
They were prepared and professional and also followed Bulldog Improvisions well concerning time, hustling everyone along with the "1 minute awareness". Wayne Bunk even stayed after a little bit to help the Bison-Terror with things. I also appreciated the sportsmanship from Alvin Booze for loaning Flags to James Powell.
Anyone with any questions or concerns about officials or rules or anything concerning the league, please by all means to make the league better and clear up any confusion address me by either phone or e-mail, so I can resolve the issue.
Concerns: Players showing up on time. Coaches/Captains have put in alot of time and their own money to have a team and phone calls, e-mail to get players there. Whatever your game time is, be there an hour before or when your Coach/Captain tells you to. There is warm-up to prevent injuries, pre-game plays to go over, and other team news and business to discuss. Players should come to the field dressed to save time.
Holding Rule Discusion: Teams that wear T-shirts MUST have them TUCKED IN AT ALL TIMES. There was a play in my game where a BT WR caught a pass and his shirt was out over the belts and the Colts DB grabbed his shirt where it was overtop the belt. The officials called holding, gave an automatic first down and the yardage. Several Players on my team complained because it was unfair that his shirt was out and the deflagger was disadvantaged to grab the flag belt because of the hinderance of the shirt. Note that the BT WR had shorts on that can't hold a shirt in tightly enough throughout the game. I am in a way glad this happened in the way to show players WHY I am requiring Football Pants to considerably limit these arguments.
If a ball carrier has his shirt tucked in and you grab the shirt then it is going to be holding. If it comes out during the run, as with jerseys that might slightly overhang, it will be Officials discression to call a hold if they feel the deflagger did grab the overhang intentionally to gain advantage to deflag or to twart the ball carriers inertia or momentum.
If a player is having a problem not tucking in his t-shirt, then officials have the discression to give an equipment penalty. Understand that having these rule disciplines in the league will cut down on the controversial calls and help those new players that are not used to these rules become more respectful and formidable to league play. So Coaches/Captains it is your responsibility to forward this e-mail to your players, make copies of it to hand out to your players, call them and go over with them, at practice, during conference pep talk time as part of pre-game warm-up.
Lastly, I know I need to to resend some passwords out for Coaches/Captains to get on their website. Please give me to Tuesday to do this.
Please send me your Stats from your Game, by every Monday evening so I can forward them to the Maryland Gazette Newspaper and the Baltimore Sun. You can make a game summary in addition to the "BOX SCORE". An example is below from our game yesterday.

2002 Fall Pred. & Commentary Week 8
Cyclones/Chiefs
The Cyclones haven't done much to improve, still their slim playoff hopes are alive even after this week. The Chiefs are licking their wounds after their first defeat to the mighty Packers and should score on 4/6 possessions in this early morning clash. Chiefs by 22 Chiefs won 18-0
Steelers/Tigers
WOW! The striped beasts threw the league for a loop with a shocking upset over the streaking Cougars (first B team to beat an A team this season) proving who is the dominent cat. The Steelers also locked up the leagues records with a upset over the Bucs, making this a very prominent match-up. This will be more of a battle on the defensive side of the ball. A big play their or on special teams might make the difference. Steelers by 6 Steelers won 13-6
Packers/Bucs
The Packers knocked off the #1 ranked team in the nation last weekend (Chiefs) by 11, making them the undisputed team to beat. The Bucs will keep this up tempo and can stay close. If McGraw picks up the blitz well they should prevail in a scrappy contest. If the Bucs hold them to under 3 TD's it should be a good one. I would have to say the Packers are 13 point favorites. Due to ethical controversies I cannot give a predictable score, I know we are 2 TD dogs, so of course I will try and upset them. Packers won 8-6
Hurricanes/Rams
The Canes woes will end this week as the Rams are having trouble fielding a team.
Hurricanes by 19 Hurricanes won 8-0
Warriors/Cougars
This was looking like the game of the week, but the Cougars showed alot of weaknesses particularly their ability to pick up the blitz, forcing All Bulldog QB Anthony Wyche out of a pocket in a panic mode, thus making ill advised throws. The Warriors are playing sound ball. This should be a thriller. If it comes down to x-tra points, the Cougars have the edge. Cougars -1 Warriors won 18-0
Clippers/Gladiators
The calamity as SW Academy this year is the Gladiators wilted program. Coach Brian Stuart's lack of recruiting and other issues, amongst not taking football serious enoughlead to his teams demise. The Clippers however are serious and contending. They will use this FF win to up their mark and stay in the playoff hunt. Clippers FF Win 1-0

2002 Fall Pred. & Commentary Week 6
Cyclones/Steelers
The Cyclones are injured and have too many holes on offense. On the defensive side some players have too many outside obligations. Nothing wrong with that except you can't be a better team without consistency and cohesiveness. The Steelers are still licking their chops after last weeks FF win over the Gladiators. The Cyclones do not have the muscle to block them and it should be along day for the Cyclone QB's, whoever they start. The Steelers will be able to show their might playing one of the teams less perenial teams. Look for them to score on D.
Steelers -20
Packers/Rams
The Clippers played the Packers really tough where they took advantage of many Packer penaltys. The Rams don't have the gump however needed to take advantage of those opportunities and keep the game close. John McGraw will get an early lead to pad his league leading 14 TD statistical advantage and then use his ground game to cap a should be victory to up their undefeated record to 6-0. Watch out for Tony Vincent, a multi positioned player that came from the Baltimore Ravens. This is a no brainer as the Rams will have to endure if they are to grow. Packers-26.5
Hurricanes/Bucs
This is an interesting match-up this week as the Canes continue to get better, competing with A teams. Though losing OL/DL James Moore to the Chiefs, they have recovered with picking up former Arbor Valley players very well. They do have to stay together mentally and not have a breakdown like they have been the past couple of weeks if they want to beat an A team. Bucs Coach, Cotrell Wesson is not even close to being satisfied with his teams productivenessas as he continues to push them towards the top, despite a 13-0 Tiger shutout. This should be an aggressive game with both teams battling on both sides of the ball. Look for a Warren Sapp-Brett Favre type comraderie match-up as Cane DE Troi Palmer tries to chase down Buc QB Dave Mitchell. It has the brewing of a classic. Still the Canes have to maintain a high intensity for 4 quarters to stay with the Bucs. And though the Bucs are lacking depth they should prevail. Bucs-9
Cougars/Clippers
Not so much of a contrast as one might intially think as the Clippers believe in themselves and their ability, which was evident with them sticking with the powerful Packers. However the Cougars are playing as well as anyone can right now and show no signs of a let down. This may stay close for a half and can come down to Anthony "Doc" Wyche just making a couple of plays to decide the difference, in the battle of the scrambling QB's. Cougars-12
Gladiators/Tigers
The Gladiators are really struggling at this moment and need to pick up some players quickly to compete. The Tigers after 2 13-0 shutout loses in as many weeks will find their way back easily into the endzone.
Tigers-19
Chiefs/Warriors
If any team knows the Chiefs it is the Warriors in this classic rivalry. If the Warriors had Stacy Turner this would be a great game. Rumor has it that Turner, when he is back from a semi-pro football injury IS going to the Chiefs. What a loss it would be for them. The Chiefs explosive offense complimented by a strong DL, anchored by big Nathaniel "Nate" Bing (if he can keep the personal fouls to a minimum) have an invincibility about them right now and should beat there old rivals with a swagger this time around. Chiefs-13
Bucs/Gladiators
Despite what happens in the first game, the Bucs should not have too much trouble with the Gladiators. Gladiator Coach, Brian stuart has to get his stuff together for his DH this week, to even field a decent team. Bucs-24
2002 Fall Pred. & Commentary Week 5
Its A Teams v. B Teams in this weeks exclusive inter divional match-ups. Which B team has the most likely chance for an upset?
(Note: There is a 6pt. handicap given to B teams when they do play the A teams)
Rams/Cougars
The Cougars are playing some of the best ball in the league and are on the cutting edge of being 1 of the elite 3 just behind the Chiefs and Packers, with QB Anthony "Doc" Wyche still making waves in his mid 30's. LB Brock "Brickwall" Birden still anchors the D. The Rams lost a tough game to the struggling Cyclones and will continue to take their woes in their inaugural season. Cougars -24.5 Cougars 26-0
Clippers/Packers
Still too big and fundamentally sound on the offensive line with center Matthew Steeples, and guards Jackson Hawkins and Barry Cohen and just have the the better players at skilled positions with the signing of free agent pick-ups from the Bucs, namely William "Moonie" Blue to add to the arsenal of receivers via Cris Armstrong and Charles Smoothers. Still the Clippers (last years Wolverines) with new coach Rico Cornish has the team believing in themselves and should play a tough first half. They can use this game as way to measure where they should recruit to go against teams as good as the Pack. Only the strong (mentally) survive.
Packers -23 Packers 20-12
Gladiators/Steelers
If Gladiator coach Brian Stuart faces the season with the attitude this is only for fun, teams like the Steelers especially with their size and strength will literally run over and run his players into the ground. The Steelers had a rough go at it, the first 2 weeks against the Chiefs and Packers, but should easily get a victory this week. The only thing the Steelers lack is an offense (but should score 2-3 Td's this week) to compliment a strong D. Look for the D, to score at least a TD or 2 in this one. Steelers-26 Steelers FF
Chiefs/Hurricanes
Cane QB Chris Demetrakis has certainly proven a dominence in the B division with wideouts James Gee and Tavon Davis. Still Demo has yet to prove himself consistently against A teams. If the Canes can run the ball, get some first downs and don't get beat deep, they can stay in this one. However on the other side of the ball is the proven Kevin "Nasty" Nelson who does know how to use his talent to the fullest with the run and gun offense. With LaMont McLaughlin back in the line-up to compliment Adam Allen, Kelvin Dale and Co., Cane DE Troi Palmer (the leagues Warren Sapp) will struggle to run down Nelson from that long snap and step up and twist through the pocket Nelson brings to the game.
Chiefs-16 Chiefs 21-6
Bucs/Tigers
Corinthian QB Dmitri Dickerson is certainly making an impact as a league top QB. With the addition of Travis Reid and his elusive running style the Tiger QB has been able to distribute the ball around. The key for the Bucs is not to let him outside the pocket. If this happens the Bucs could be in for a week 5 dogfight. The Bucs should bounce back strong from their week 3 humbling by the hands of the Cougars as rookie Head coach Cottrell "Cotty" Wesson (who takes over for brother Norman) has the team practicing hard implementing his offensive system and defensive schemes. Cotty brings alot of knowledge to the game and if QB Dave Mitchell can run his system proficiently they will be a top contender with a good line and a solid array of receivers featuring Bryan Carter. Also, watch for the debut of RB Devin "Madman" Jones which should open up the Bucs running game and take some pressure off Mitchell. A big key for the Bucs will be veteran DE Salvatore Assaro and his solidified commitment to the team. Assaro's absence was felt in the Cougar loss and now only a resurgence can tighten up the defense. Weather he plays or not can provide a 1 to 2 td swing.
Bucs-12 Bucs 13-0
Warriors/Cyclones
This one certainly seems interesting enough. Without QB Stacy Turner, the Warriors are a different team. With some tough games out of the way, they should endure and get back on track in favored match-ups. The Cyclones are a young team with no clear leader for the team to rally around. Still Head coach Thearon "The Dream" McQueen and Asst. coach Michael "Iceman" Banks search to find the right ingredients to help their team run affluent. They do have some talent at RB with the pick-up of Maurice Williams, the multi purpose Newman Thompson and CB Damon Moore, but lack the experience and some clear cut key players to fill key positions to be a top contender this season. These issues amongst the team will lead to arguing and can lead to eventual implosion within. The Warriors may not be atop the A teams elite right now, but have enough to take advantage and not faulter to the twisters that may spiral out of control before seasons end. Warriors-19 Warriors 36-0
2002 Spring --- Player of the Week
PLAYER OF THE WEEK (May 5th)
Mike Randolph, Bucs QB
Mike keeped his poise and used his Michael Vick like mobility to scramble outside and complete passes against a mighty Packer rush. In place for injured Mike Fitzgerald (wrist) he completed his most important pass of the day with :35 seconds remaining, a 3y scoring strike to William Blue to the back of the right corner of the endzone. He then fired a perfect strike to his other WR to the back part of the left side of the endzone for the PAT, giving them the lead (and win) 7-6, which left the Packers stunned, after they controled all but the last minute of the game. Randolph didn't make any mistakes and even had a TD pass dropped by one of his WR in the 1st half in the back of the endzone from 40y out. He keeped Coach Marty Burke's bunch off balance most of the game, until he finally punched it in on his last drive of the game.
Keeping our Spirits up
By not cancelling or postponing this past weeks games, we were able to come together and share our thoughts and expressions out on the field and in an atmoshere we have in common. This is a positive thing for us to do as our nation is going through a trying time, especially here on the east coast. For many of us it hit home with losing relatives and friends that were in and around those buildings. To stay at home and do nothing or just sit there and watch the news all day, I feel would have been worse. With all 5 games starting and ending with prayers after Sundays games gave alot of players and spectators comfort. To play the games was appropriate because it provided us with a relief as we must go back to work and business this week. Things can get worse as we are going to war, so lets just keep things in perspective each and every Sunday to come and not let our emotions wear thin. Football is a serious fun, as life is sometimes, so it is important for all of us to mentally, physically and spiritually to keep our spirits high...

2000 Fall CYCLONE review
10/18/00 The CYCLONES after losing QB Mike Fitgerald and his go-to-guy WR Troy Watkins to free-agency have struggled to contend. Coming from 7-man and finishing runner-up in the spring 2000 MD. Bull"DOG" League they are yet to replace and pick up players to regain a winning competitive form. They are also lacking depth which has tappered key players quality of play, because they are in longer than usual. What will Capt. Thearon McQueen do before the upcoming playoffs?
2000 Fall HUSKIES review
10/18/00 The 2000 Spring Champion HUSKIES have a problem. Their top players, DE Gene McGill, WR Anthony Coffield among a couple others are not being responsible in showing up. Despite their absence last game the HUSKIES are also plagued with injuries: LB Al Guy (knees), TE/DE Rob McQuaery (broken thumb). Also, LB Mark Quake has been released, violating team insubornation. They have to get it together quick for the upcoming playoffs...
2000 Fall Week 6 "The Line"
PACKERS(2-3)
CYCLONES(2-3)
Although the PACKERS are on a down, they still have enough talent and experience to beat the CYCLONES. I don't think the score will be 36-0 as earlier in the season, as the CYCLONES will play hard knowing they have more than a decent chance, with the PACKERS having no structure as to who is running the team. PACKERS by 9
HUSKIES(3-2)
BUCS(4-1)
BUCS RB Bryan Carter has to stopped. He is opening up everything in the playbook that the BUCS can call. The veer formation is working well for Coach/Capt. Norman Wesson, with the aid of formadable blocking schemes.
HUSKIES QB threw 3TD's last week with the debut of Anthony Coffield. They found the chemistry is still there. The HUSKIES must pick up the blitz, to keep the BUCS D honest.
COUGARS(3-2)
RENEGADES(0-5)
Despite their record, the RENEGADES don't play like a winless team. Depending on how practices are going they could be a tough test for the COUGARS who have dropped their last two contests in close games against the two best teams. COUGAR QB Anthony 'Doc' Whyche has to start running alot more and this may be the game he can stretch his legs. All the COUGARS have to do is contain RB Kevin Moore and WR Odell Torrence. The RENEGADES don't have any other big play threats. COUGARS by 12
D.C.WARRIORS(5-0)
BOMBERS(1-4)
Although they won a game, the BOMBERS might be the weakess team right now. They are certainly the most inexperienced and have a hard time stopping the run. In their favor the WARRIORS don't really run the ball, except on direct snaps. However QB Stacy Turner can and could have a huge day, if Coach Conrad Basset plays him over Harry McFadden. No difference as the BOMBERS are lacking the defense to cover there short screens, that turn into long plays. This is a wash, welcome to 6-0, D.C. WARRIORS by 18
2000 Fall Week 5 "The Line"
OCTOBER 8, 2000
9:00 CYCLONES(1-3) v. BOMBERS(1-3)
The good news about this is someone will have 2 victorys. The CYCLONES are coming off a tough lose to the HUSKIES while the BOMBERS are celebrating after their 1st victory and OT win against the RENEGADES. Still I think the CYCLONES have a little more talent right now. CYCLONES by 6
10:15 RENEGADES(0-4) v. HUSKIES(2-2)
Of couse its hard to be impartial, but the fact is we just have a better football team. These guys just love to beat us if they can. They are looking for the upset and will be coming for me, that just might be the juice I need to go over .500. HUSKIES by 8
11:30 COUGARS(3-1) v. BUCS(3-1)
The match-up of the week! the COUGARS coming off a disappointing last minute loss to the WARRIORS while the BUCS looked really strong and confident in beating the PACKERS last week behind Bryan Carter. I still don't know if the COUGARS are ready to overcome a setback. Although I think the COUGARS will play then tough defensively. The BUCS will prevail in a close on. BUCS by 3
12:45 PACKERS(2-2) v. WARRIORS(4-0)
I think the afternoon game will be good for the PACKERS as they will be more awake and should have everyone there and attentive as long as no one is worried about what the Ravens/Jacksonville score is? Hopefully Coach Marty Burke will inspire them to stay focused and they will play with as much heart as they have attitude. They match up well against the WARRIORS defensively and this game will come down to a conversion in a low scoring contest. PACKERS by 2
I 12-4 on the year predicting games and evenly recorded with the spread for a .750 percentage. This is for fun and everyone is welcome to make comments (not trash talking) on the message board. Please show your maturity and that your parents raised you right by keeping your opinions clean and educated!
2000 Fall Power Rankings through mid-season
1. D.C. Warriors (4-0)
With QB Harry McFadden's 14 TD's, he leads the league, hitting his favorite receiver Eric Scott on 4 of those tosses. The Warriors run and shoot offense is tiring defensive lineman and giving defensive backs headaches
2. Cherry Hill COUGARS (3-1)
Coach Eric Hicks organization and administration have helped an undisciplined group come together. Anthony 'DOC' Wyche has thrown 11 TD's himself, while converting all but 1 of his conversion attempts. With a defense that has improved. Its all a matter how they can deal with adversity and listen to Coach Hicks and not argue and become unruly amongst one another after a play that doesn't go their way or a loss. Lets see how they bounce back after a tough loss.
3. Baltimore BUCS (3-1)
Getting QB Mike Fitzgerald and WR Troy Watkins is what Coach Norman Wesson thinks it will take to go all the way. While incumbant QB Mike Randolph has been switched to CB, the BUCS defense has been making the plays after a opening day heartbreaker. Will they be able to get over the top? It will be be interesting as RB Bryan Carter has made a resurgence as this seasons offensive threat.
4. Baltimore PACKERS (2-2)
The mighty are down but certainly not out. They are just plainly lacking commitment and overall effort. While talks to a fall off has prompted some to talk about QB change from John McGraw to Duane Washington, detractors agree it might be franchise flag-football suicide to take out a guy who in 2000 has lead them to a league championship and 3 tournament titles. They have fought off injuries, all they have to do is fight off a lackadaisical attitude.
5. Glen Burnie HUSKIES (2-2)
What a year QB Dave Mitchell thought he was going to have, yet offensive line problems plague the defending spring champions. But Mitchell is the Jim Harbaugh of flag-football and will continue to play hard trying to compensate. New RB sensation Tony McCoy has rivoted his rookie expectations, while veterans TE Hue Bibbs, Curtis Bordeaux, and Sal Assaro should continue to shine, but all of them must be at top their game with Mitchell to win key games as DE Gene McGill anchors the DL.
6. Baltimore CYCLONES (1-3)
Definetly the loss of Fitgerald and Watkins have taken its toll on the once thriving CYCLONES. But they must forget about it, those guys are gone and in order to win they have to scout teams out and step it up. They need some players however, as Dominic Dinisio and Thearon McQueen can make good plays to keep them in a game but they need a playmaker to come ease the load.
7. Baltimore BOMBERS (1-3)
Captain Tony Vavakas has the same problems the PACKERS do, lack of dedication, however the BOMBERS aren't established as the PACKERS and must recruit some players somewhere to even have a chance of making a run of it down the stretch. They have some speed, but lack in mechanics and formability. Vavakas has maintained discipline but must do the above to establish a winning repertoire.
8. Baltimore RENEGEADES (0-4)
Capt. James Weddington took over the program this fall from a failed Milton Anthony campaign in the spring. His goal is to build the team back up to be a future contender. It will at least take this season to do. Having players from the former AHGHANHOUNDS team that tasted success in making the playoffs 3/4 seasons Weddington must find a way to put the hunger back in their mouths and inspiring them with the will to win, so they can find a way to win. But first who will he play at QB Luis Santiago or Lyden Johnson. Everyone knows the song when your on a losing team; frustration that turns into unfocused anger. And then becomes introverted to ones own teammates. They must lick their wounds and press harder each week so Weddington can filter out who stays and who goes. Lets just hope he doesn't do a "Bruce Coslet".
