NO MORE PARKING ON THE HILLSIDE OR ALONG THE ROAD
League,
The problem is trash in between the cars as players pull off and leave. I have addressed this several times and now I must try and make resolutions to this ongoing consistent problem. More so, to make things worse for the last 2/3 weeks and last year there were/are several beer bottles, as this week it was a case left in between the cars.
I can not monitor everything, so I am forced to put some restrictions on some things. The Parks and Recs office didn't like cars parked there anyway but left it up to me as long as there was no problems, but now there is.
Please tell all your players and spectators to park in appropriate spaces in the park only. YOU CANNOT PARK ON THE ROADSIDE. If there are no spaces available then you must park in the front of the elementary school parking lot and walk over.
Also, when congregating after a game i.e. end zone in front of bathroom some players are leaving empty water and juice bottles and balled up tape rolls around the park. From now on I will have to be watching which teams congregate where as I will hold the Coaches responsible for making sure that area is clean when they leave.
Your cooperation is expected and appreciated in this matter as you should let ALL your players be notified.

TRASH AND DEBRIS LEFT AT FIELD PROBLEM
Players and spectators alike are watching the games from their cars and are just throwing the trash including beer bottles outside their cars on the ground when done. I was about 20-25 minutes cleaning up almost an entire trash bag full and my back can't take that after being out there all day. And bottom line I'm not going to do it anymore. I feel if players park away from the action then they will have no reason to throw it outside their car as in the main parking lot there was only a few gatorade bottles and rolled up tape rolls (which is still unacceptable).
League,
My next step is, if this is not corrected, is to not allow any food in the park and/or allow spectaors to hang around on the hill if they are not going to clean up after themselves. Next step after that, is not to allow teams to congregate after their games in areas if they are not going to clean up every single thing after themselves. And that after every single game every player has to leave within 10 minutes with the Owners/Coaches being LAST TO LEAVE making sure they go behind all their players and make sure nothing is left including used tape and any empty or partially filled bottles or liquid and food and the like. Players are also leaving alot of clothing.
I don't think the Owners/Coaches are making it clear to EVERY SINGLE PLAYER on their team about this issue. The team owner is responsible for putting up 2 large garbage size trash bags at each 30y line BEFORE his game (so it should be the first thing him or his manger does), then making sure within the 5 minutes they have to exit the sideline after their game, that all debris are up off the ground on either side the fence or in the fence i.e. cups and placed in the bags they brought and taken up to the trash cans in/by the 1st pavillion where HCRP as told me it is to be put it.
At this point, because of how bad it has been 2/3 weeks we have played I will be handing out suspensions if I see anyone leave anything. If its a team congregating and leaving any more trash as defined above, then I have no choice but to fine that team as per the rules. O/HC need to send out emails and/or phone calls before this Sunday about the problem. This is slightly an extreme measure, but I can think of no other way to keep this problem under control if every single player and spectators are not going to cooperate.

FIGHTING/ILL-WILL
If it is found that punches were thrown by any player in the league(as I investigate with all Officials about incidents and will be looking at any video tape anyone wants to bring forward), the player(s) that threw punches wil be subject to suspension.
Of course, no player should have it held against them for defending themselves, against someone else who threw an initial punch.
Also, know that punches or physical altercation does not have to happen for a player to be suspended. It can be any form of ill-will such as verbal abuse and/or taunting. I am committed to have a league in which such incidents will be minimized and the only way to do this is to enforce the discipline and have players that break the rules set in place, pay the consequences.
I hope all Coaches/Captains are in agreement to this as well as all players. It would pain me to suspend someone, but none the less it has to be done or things become unruly. If a player knows he will be facing suspension and/or disbarment for wrongful actions then he he will think twice and refrain in most cases from doing anything that is foolish. If he does cross the line and does something foolish that is in the rules which makes him succeptable to being suspended, then he should display the maturity in accepting the consequences for his actions. Like Dewey Grim (Coach of the Outlawz) said, "these disciplines can and should be enforced within the teams organization", as this bonds all of us to keep players emotions under control so that they are less likely to break any rules. As with any issues that arise or questions you may have please get back to me as I take these matters very seriously.

2004 Fall negotiations between Mitchell and Lawrence
Mark Lawrence and Dave Mitchell have talked about what we are going to do about the upcoming 2004 Fall Season and have concluded.
There will be A and B League classifications.
Mark Lawrence will commission the A and Dave Mitchell will commission the B for new teams.
Both Regular Sesaons start September 12th-and will conclude on November 14th, with the States being November 20th and 21st and Regionals 27th and 28th and then our League Playoffs and Championship will be on December 5th.
Right now we each have 4 teams in each class. We will take up to 8 in each class with Games being on Sundays and game times being 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm. Scheduling requests have to be made before September 6th.
Schedules will be done September 6th and posted on this website. If your team did not turn in your fee on the 5th, you will not be on the schedule thus not in the season.
We have also agreed that each of our Officiating Crews will govern the same rules in both leagues with "Football Pants" being mandatory.
We have 4 teams registered in the EDRECO League commissioned by Mark Lawrence which are Baltimore PACKERS, Corinthian TIGERS, Reisterstown SCORPIONS, Cherry Hill COUGARS. For those of you who do not know the former Baltimore Cyclones Coached by Theoron McQueen have merged with the Tigers.
We have 4 teams in the BULLDOG League commissioned by Dave Mitchell- (New Teams!) which are Glen Burnie COLTS, Catonsville BOMBERS, South Baltimore STARS and Charm City SCOURGE.
For the 2004 Fall Season we will be playing at EDRECO FIELDS which are at Woodlawn Middle School and we will be using BULLDOG USFTL Sanctioned and Certified Officials as such an agreement has been made by Commissioners Lawrence and Mitchell.
2003 Fall/2004 Spring Letter to Coaches/Captains
Coaches/Captains,
We are going to have 3 Conferences in the 9-man level in Maryland for this coming Fall 2003 season. These Conferences are Anne Arundel County BullDog, Baltimore County Edreeco and Washington County Hagerstown.
After helping sponsor the Edreeco League for 5 seasons, I am back to commission the BullDog League in which I did for 10 seasons prior.
Although Mark (Lawrence) has done a good job the past 3 seasons after John's (McGraw) 2 seasons, I have received alot of commentary on how 9-man has went down in quality during the past 5 seasons.
My mission and commitment with the BullDog league is to bring the standards and quality back up to par for the same price. I cannot speak for the other commissioners in the state, however I will be working with Mark and Tim (Flook)to promote 9-man flag-football for the 2003 Fall season.
One way I will do this is to maintain the Maryland Bulldog Flag-Football website (which has just received over 10,000 hits) with 9-man Maryland information as well as information on Baltimore County and Washington County Leagues.
The past 2 months I have also worked on several things...
One, emailing, writing and going by the top 25 newspapers around the Baltimore Metropolitan area and requesting articles to add notoriety, while also promoting 9-man flag-football.
Two, contacting over 300 businesses (still working on), in the area for potential sponsorship. I have attached this letter to the website to act as a guide for Coaches/Captains who are seeking sponsorship for their respected teams, as you can cut, paste and then reedit the letter and send to sponsors of your own choice.
I request you let me know if your team needs funds to support your team for this coming season. Because if I do get sponsorship from a business(s) it will be given to the team(s) that request and need it the most. So please send me your requests if you need the funds.
Three, updating the website itself, as you can see by clicking on Big Dog Bowls, Tournament Champions and especially the ALBUM section to view pictures, standings, playoffs and commentary of seasons past. I am welcoming any emails from you with requests on any pictures you want to send me to put on the website or any other information or story you want to share i..e. a great game you played in, anything about a player that deserves kudos, a short biography of your own career, etc.
I also, FYI have all the scores and stats of all past seasons on file that I can send to you at your request. All you have to do is ask and I will send it to you if available. Most everything is on file from Fall 1994. Any pics you send must be in the form of a .jpeg, so make sure you scan it on your hard drive that way before sending it to me.
We have only a month before most teams start practices, so now is the time to try and get a sponsor for your team. Work hard, Work smart and work on it to get it done.
In my next e-mail to you, I will have the TOP TEN things that will make the Anne Arundel County BullDog League a good quality league. And these things I will guarantee and offer to you if you are planning on playing 9-man this fall.
If I do not have enough teams for the 2003 fall, I will commission the Bulldog 2004 spring season.
Yours truly,
Dave "Bulldog" Mitchell

2003 Fall Commissioner Letter to FutureTeam Captains
As you all are aware of we did not having a 2003 spring season.
There was just not enough interest, commitment and too much procrastination.
To answer everyones questions to what happened to all our Fall league teams, the CHIEFS are playing in Clinton, the WARRIORS are playing 8-man in the Anne Arundel County, the COUGARS and STEELERS don't play in the spring. The HURRICANES, and CLIPPERS didn't put a team in. The CYCLONES tried, but onlt 5 people showed up for 2 practices. The FALCONS after saying they were playing after the info. was given never called back with confirmation and only 3 players showed up for their scrimmage game a week prior to opening day. The new team (BAYNE'S TRAINS) never returned back a phone call or e-mail. The BLITZ (new team) having 25 players tried to get in late but had no OL, to start the season so were not going to participate. The former AFGHANHOUNDS Captain, James Weddington called too late, but are going to have a team in the fall, the PACKERS, refused to play in a league with just 4 teams, the TIGERS had every attention but did not turn in money and the BUCS only had part of their money.
So there you have it. 3 weeks of work down went down the drain. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for those wanting to participate in the 2003 Fall season. Every team has this last week of May, June, July (about 70 days) to get their teams together for to call practices in August, save and collect fee of $750.00, order their uniforms, in which football pants are going to be required (and everyone on their team will have to wear the same color pants or will be denied to play.)
All the information, protocol, and itinerary are on the web site for this coming Fall Season at http://www.eteamz.com/mdbulldogflagfootball
The ball is in everyones field to come through in a professional and timely matter. I cannot run things efficiently if fees are not turned in and Captains put off until the last week to order uniforms.
Understand prior to the season, field permits must be signed, officials have to be reserved and sanctioned, field maintenance has to be done, a vendor called, fees have to be sent to the USFTL for sanctioning and certification of our league, along with other odds and ends like copying of schedules and other rules and regulations, website organized for seasonal play and then there are many misc. phone calls to make and things to do. etc. etc.
I cannot have all this together without every teams revenue and cooperation. I know there will be alot more interest in the Fall being its the NFL season, so I expect a few new teams and some transfer 8-man teams in all probability, so I will be working with them when they call me for them to get their business together with the "SCHEDULE" I have set up (on the website).
Thats why it is imperative if you all want an organized season, have it together (fees and uniforms-jerseys-pants-sonic boom flag belts) before August 31st and then contact me by phone or e-mail. Those who do not contact me by then will not be put on the schedule, as I will only be taking the first 12 teams that pay in full (no partial payments) and have their uniforms together (jersey/t-shirt matching color tops and matching football pant bottoms).
If its a situation where I have 6 teams (minimum) or more by that time and have a few stragling teams that haven't got their business together, I will not wait for them to get it together since they have had all this time from now, cause it will hurt the organization from the others who have prepared accordingly and I know everyone for all intents and purposes can understand that.
Sincerely,
Dave "Bulldog" Mitchell

2002 Fall Commissioners season ending letter
Our Fall 2002 flag football season has finally come to an end. I won't recap everything that's happened this year. However, I would like to thank everyone who participated in making this year a successful one. There were a lot of things that we could have all done better and somethings we probably shouldn't have done. Nevertheless, I would consider this to be a successful season.
For those of you who weren't at our Championship game on Sunday, you missed an outstanding game between the Packers and the Chiefs. The Chiefs were victorious over the Packers by a score of 20-7, making the Chiefs the Undisputed Champions of the Edreco 9-Man Flag Football League and of the state of Maryland.
Congratulation to Barry Thompson (team rep), Anita Chelsey (manager), and the entire Chiefs teams for all your accomplishments this year. I look forward to see you all next year in the spring.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience so that you can get your right fully deserve trophy.
Just a heads up for all teams that are planning to participate in our spring league. Registration will begin on February 15th 2003. As usually this will be on a first come first pay bases. I will only be taking the first 8 or 10 teams.
Mark Lawrence
2001 Fall Letter of Special Thanks and Future Plans
I would like to thank you all for your participation in the 2001 Fall Edreco flag football season. Most of all, I would like to thank you for your patience and support throughout this yet another rough season.
Despite all the issues we had to deal with this year, I believe all in all it was a good year. The best part is, I'm more motivated than before and very excited about the future of this league.
My first goal for this league is to keep us together. I will achieve this goal by giving you what you want the most, and that is to play football. You will have the opportunity to play in the spring, in our first annual 9-man 2002 spring league and spring tournament, where you will be competing not just for a trophy but paid bids and traveling expense CASH!!!!.
My second goal will be to gain national recognition of our league. I will achieve this goal by first implementing a committee, that will provide a real atmosphere in promoting and also dealing with issues that may arise during the season, while providing a system for filing protest and complaints. As a result, our league will have real organization.
Teams that are unable to play within the rules and regulations of this board in conjunction with the USFTL will not be allow to join our league. "WE WILL STRIVE TO BE THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!
Enjoy the holidays and I hope to see you all in the spring.
Mark Lawrence
