New Division -- with World Series -- Created in Little League Baseball
For the first time since 1999, a new division of play has been created in Little League.
This divison, successfully piloted in MCNLL is referred to as 50-70 Division. This new division is for players who are league-age 11-13 and features a pitching distance of 50 feet and base paths of 70 feet. The new baseball division will be offered for the 2013 regular season. It will include postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series.
The new baseball division will serve as a bridge between the current "Little League" size baseball field (46-foot pitching distance, 60-foot base paths) and a standard baseball diamond with 60.5-foot pitching and 90-foot base paths.

Chris Reisfeld

| Chris |
Martin County North Little League mourns the death of one of its own, Chris Reisfeld, who was an active member of our league until he was diagnosed three years ago with a rare bone cancer in his leg. He received the diagnosis just days after learning he had been selected to the 11-year-old all-star team. Chris played all stars as a 9 and 10 year old.
Chris's younger brother, Andrew, currently participates in our league.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Break Ins at Sailfish Park
MCNLL would like to bring to your attention that there now have been two (2) known break ins at Sailfish Park. There is a group of burglars who work the parks. They are now targeting Sailfish.
Do not leave purses, wallets, I-pads, cell phones, lap tops in plain sight. A typical smash and grab takes just 45 seconds.
We have asked the City to do extra patrols of the parking areas. The best remedy though is not to leave any valuables in your vehicles. Stay vigilant.
If you see anything, please report it immediately to the City of Stuart Police Dept. Save this number in your phones (772) 287-1122.

"We Want Ball Fields"
Thank you to all the children, parents and coaches who came to the Martin County Commissioners Meeting on February 7, 2012 to help support the proposal to spend $4.5 million in sales tax money to develop new sports fields.
"I think you can feel the passion coming out right now," said George Bailey Jr., of East Stuart. "We definitely need more fields for these guys and even the girls."
The commissioners voted unanimously to ask county Parks and Recreation officials to meet with representatives of several youth sports leagues as well as the School Board and city of Stuart to try to determine how to meet the most needs with the money available.

Coaches Cleanup Day; January 14, 2012
![]() |
On January 14, 2012 instead of the standard Coaches Clinic held at the beginning of each season, Martin County North Little League held a "Coaches Cleanup Day" at Sailfish Park. Coaches, Managers, Board Members, Players and Volunteers all worked together for more than three hours to get the park into shape for the upcoming season. They groomed the infield base cut outs and pitcher mounds, weeded the warning tracks, painted the dug out fascias, cleaned and painted the concession stand, worked on bull pens, batting cages and more.
"It was incredible to see not only the turn out but the results of yesterday's Manager, Coaches and Volunteer Day at Sailfish. To see everyone pitching in for our baseball community was something special- very rewarding." stated MCNLL President, Steve Provines.
Two important sponsors were Simply the Best Painting and Cleaning and the local Benjamin Moore distributor. Their contribution was invaluable and made an important impact.
In case you missed it, MCNLL will be having another Pitch In Day on Saturday, January 28th at Sailfish Park. See you there!

MCNLL Around the Town!
Martin County North Little League Board of Directors have been busy in the "off season". Besides getting ready for December registration for spring ball, they have also been working hard on new fields for Martin County.
On Thursday, October 20, 2011 members of the MCNLL Board presented to the county's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in an effort to persude them to use the approximate $4 million in currently unallocated sales tax revenue for county park projects on more baseball, softball and multi-purpose fields for the county's youth.
On Saturday, October 22, 2011 more MCNLL Board Members were out at Lance Cpl. Justin Wilson Park to support the Annual Palm City Fall Fest. It was a beautiful sunny day to visit with old and new friends and raise awareness about the plight of Sailfish Park as well as encourage support of new parks in Martin County.
District Training for Board Members has been occurring throughout the end of October.
The next Board Meeting is Monday, November 7, 2011.
Spring Registration starts in December look for the MCNLL newsletter and registration information to be coming soon!

Little League International Announces Bat Rules Changes for 2012 Season
Little League International has posted information regarding upcoming changes to the bat rules and specifications for the 2012 season. Little League is taking this step, before the rule books are actually published in December, to give parents and leagues a timely "heads up".
- For the Little League Major Baseball Division and below: The moratorium on composite-barreled baseball bats remains in effect. However, some composite-barreled baseball bats that have been proven in laboratory testing to meet the BPF (Bat Performance Factor) standard throughout the life of the bat, through the Accelerated Break-In (ABI) process, have received waivers. That list is here: http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/approvedcompbatssmall.htm
