 MIZUNO ELITE GOLD...Statement of Purpose

Montgomery County Elite is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization based in The Woodlands, Texas. Mizuno Elite Gold is an intergal part of MC Elite Organization.  We are the only Gold team for the Mizuno Elite Gold. The purpose of the organization is to sponsor competitive girls' fastpitch softball teams. We will provide girls from the south Texas area a chance to compete against teams from across the state and nation.

We seek to promote player development in hopes of receiving scholarship help in college. We expect our team to be very competitive, but we realize winning isn't everything. We hope the girls in our program learn other values such as teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, and goal achievement. We feel this exemplifies what sports is all about.

Mizuno Elite Gold finish 2nd in Colorado Explosion

Mizuno Elite Gold played some outstanding softball in the Colorado Explosion softball tournament held in Parker, Colorado.  Mizuno Elite played a total of 14 games over the course of the tournament.  After completing pool play, they played their first bracket game against TX Pride Gold.  Trailing by 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, three singles loaded the bases.  Keezie McDermott finished the game with a booming triple scoring three runs to win the game in walk-off fashion.  This would set the tone for the week.  The next game was against the eventual champion, NE Omaha Quakes.  This game would put us in the loser bracket and test our desire to work our way back.  We then changed parks and played Montana Blitz.  We won that game off the home run power of Skye Koehl and Breanna Skinner.  The next day our next game was against TX Hit Away Gold.  They were the defending champions and a solid team.  We defeated Hit Way Gold and sent them home on the right arm of Leigh Luker.  Five runs scored in the first inning set the tone for the game.  Our next back to back game was against CA Salinas Wildcats.  We won that game with solid hitting from Speedy Wood and Gaby Martinez.  Hayley Vavra pitched a complete game for the victory.  We then had to change parks and play the CA Lady Sharks who were resting and waitng for us.  We exploded for 11 runs for the run rule victory.  Leigh Luker was the winning pitcher and Bre Skinner had another home run.  We then had to change parks again and return to play CA Rage Gold.  We run ruled the Rage on the strength of a booming home run from Hannah Gerecke.  Hannah has 5 home runs for the tournmament with 19 rbi's.  She was outstanding.  We had one more game this day and this was against Glory RWB.  It was an outstanding game with both team having outstanding pitching.  Elite was led by Leigh Luker who pitched, in my opinion, her most dominate game of the year.  We won the game 2-1 with rbi's from Bre Skinner and Hannah Gerecke.  Finally some rest and a return visit for the Sunday finals.  Sunday had us facing CO Warriors Select in the semi-finals.  It was a tense game with the Warriors with a late home run to put us behind after leading the entire game.  We came in to bat in the bottom of the 7th trailing by 3 runs.  We were not to be denied.  Alyssa Vega lead off with a single to lf.  Next came Taylor Henthorn with a great single to rf.  Next came the hot hitting Bre Skinner with another single to load the bases.  Gaby Martinez came up and utilized her speed to beat out a play a first to put us down by two runs.  A wild pitch scored another run.  With Hannah Gerecke at bat, a walk off single scored the winning runs and lead to a great dog pile which followed.  With 2nd place assured, we again played the Omaha Quakes.  We played hard but we could not get over the hump and fell to them in the Championship.  We are VERY proud of this team.  Leigh Luker, Hayley Vavra, and Casey Peters pitched great and kept us in games throught the tournament.  The hitting was outstanding with dominate hitting from Gaby Martinez, Bre Skinner, Speedy Wood, Skye Koehl, Lauryn Manning, Hannah Gerecke, Alyssa Vega, Keezie McDermott. Hayley Vavra, Taylor Henthorn, and Alyyssa Muckelroy.  Our team batting average was .394 and slugging was .565.  9 homeruns and 80 rbi's.  Our defense was OUTSTANDING all tournament.  Congratulations ladies and way to represent Mizuno Elite Gold.
