Welcome to the home of the Premier Youth Football League in Medina. MBYF is the Home of NFL FLAG Football, the Broncos, Stallions, Storm, Predators, Rampage, Grizzlies, Hawks, Crush, Cobras, Wildcats, Eagles, Sharks, Knights, Dawgz, Panthers and Bisons. 2009 marks our eighth season. Since 2002, MBYF has more than quadrupled its enrollment. We now have over over 1400 participants in our programs annually.
This growth is clear proof that the Medina football community views MBYF as the best youth football league. Over 90% of our age eligible players and cheerleaders return for the following season. This is proof that MBYF provides the best football, NFL FLAG Football and cheerleading programs in Medina.
With MBYF your family gets much more than with any other league: a greater degree of commitment to teaching skills; more games; more playing time; more free events (pool parties, Browns games, etc.), better equipment and uniforms-- and NO FUNDRAISING.
THE LEADER IN YOUTH FOOTBALL: MBYF is the leader in all areas of the game. We are the only league in Medina to offer NFL FLAG Football (both Spring and Fall Seasons); the league which has the most teams since 2002. In 2008 we fielded 21 cheerleading squads, 21 tackle, 30 Spring NFL FLAG Football and 30 Fall NFL FLAG Football teams. In 2009 we anticipate that the number of teams will grow again.
MBYF is a charter member of American Youth Football and also an active member of USA Football. These organizations and MBYF seek to promote the sport of football and instill strong values in our participants.
Winter of 2010 will mark of second season of Indoor Flag Football League for boys and girls ages 5-9. All of these games will be played at the new Medina Sports Campus. Registration opens in September and games will begin after the first of the year.
Also, new for 2009 is our indoor 7 on 7 league for players 8 and older. This league will help players improve their pass defense, receiving and passing skills. If you would like to be a part of the inaugural season, please e-mail: support@mbyfootball.org.
MBYF is the only league to require both background checks and National Certification (USA Football) of all coaches, advisors and staff, for the safety of our participants; attendance of coaching clinics to so that our coaches remain the most knowledgable and skilled in youth football; the league with the most playing time; the league which has repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to the community by providing ( with its sponsors) renovations and maintenance of Bill Dunn Field; installation of scoreboard; Sponsor of Ken Dukes Stadium Renovation; donations to Medina High School Athletic Department; participation in Memorial Day, 4th of July and Candlelight Walk Parades; sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation Walk; participation in team dinners for Medina High School Football Team.
MBYF is the only league which competes against teams from Medina High School's Conference (The Northeast Ohio Conference). The Northeast Ohio Youth Football Conference is one of the largest in Ohio, consisting of over 60 teams.
MBYF is the only league that offers its players the opportunity to play against national competition, by hosting our Kick Off Classic pre season tournament and through our participation in the Midwest Youth Football National Championships.
MBYF is the only league that sponsors a regional football tournament, "The MBYF Kick Off Classic". In just three years, this tournament has grown to include tackle and flag football teams from the Midwest and Canada. The 2009 Kick Off Classic will be even better.
The success of our program lays the foundation for our players future success. The majority of players on the Medina High School team started their football careers with an MBYF team. The 2008, Medina High School Offensive (Pat O'Boyle) and Defensive (Connor Kunz) MVP's, both played for MBYF's Broncos.
SUCCESS: MBYF is the only league in which teams from all age groups can qualify for the playoffs. Our teams have a proven track record of success-- 14 Division Champions, 11 Conference Champions, 11 League Champions, 2 League Runners Up and 10 Division runners up since 2002. In 2008, MBYF swept the NOYFC Championships for the second consecutive year.
Beyond success on the field, we judge success by how much our players and cheerleaders enjoyed the season. Over 90% of those age eligible to participate in MBYF return each season.
OPPORTUNITY TO EXCEL: Our Divisions for tackle football are divided according to age and weight (all ages determined as of 7/1/08 ): Varsity 11-12 year olds weight limit 150 pounds; Junior Varsity ages 8-10 weight limit 140 pounds; Bantam Division ages 7 and 8, weight under 100 pounds and 9 year olds under 65 pounds.
Our weight and age divisions offer the best mix of competiveness and safety of any league in Medina. Weight is only one safety factor to consider. Maturity has a much greater impact on safety. Our divisions address this issue betterthan any other league.
We limit all of our tackle squads to 19 players to maximize playing time and increase individualized teaching. We strictly enforce are rules in regard to playing time. All players must receive a minimum of 10 plays (not counting punts) per game. We offer cheerleading for all of our Varsity, Junior Varsity and Bantam level teams. The same age restrictions apply to the cheerleaders. There are no tryouts everyone plays.
We offer many opportunities for our players to improve their skills through our combines, speed & agility classes, instructional camps and pre-season conditioning.
VALUE: With MBYF you get much more. NO FUNDRAISING IN 2009. No family willl be asked to sell raffle tickets, etc. There are no hidden costs, as MBYF provides all equipment and uniforms necessary to participate (cheerleaders, football and NFL FLAG Football Players). In addition the registration fee covers trophies and admission to all MBYF events such as pool parties, Snow Bowl and more.
MBYF provides the best coaching, equipment, uniforms, trophies and events available for all of our players and cheerleaders.
Every tackle player receives a game and practice uniform, mouthpiece, game socks, t-shirt and trophy.
Every Cheerleader receives a game uniform, including socks, undergarments and hair ribbons and trophy.

The 2009 Medina Kick Off Classic will be held August 22 and 23 at the Medina High School Athletic Complex. This will be the fourth year of our tournament, which has grown every year. What started as a local tournament in 2006, has now developed into a regional tournament attracting teams from across North East Ohio, the Midwest and Canada.
We look forward to another great Tournament filled with great football and fun for the entire family. In addition to football, flag football and cheerleading, there will be a midway featuring carnival games and great food by Sheetz. The Kick Off Classic is great fun for the entire family.

MBYF has always been committed to helping its athletes improve their abilities through our off season work outs. The hard work of our athletes is reflected in the high number of former MBYF players who now compete at the high school and collegiate level.
There has been growing interest for a Spring and Summer program which focuses on improving an athlete's speed, agility and quickness. In response to this interest, MBYF will be offering a FREE Speed, Power and Agility Program every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Participants are welcome to come all 3 days or when ever their spring sports schedules permits. Midweek sessions will be from 6-7:30 and Saturday sessions will be 9-11 a.m. The program will begin on April 14 and run through June 27.
We will utilize equipment and drills specifically designed to increase the athletes, speed, quickness, later movement and power. These workouts are intended to be high intensity. Participants will be separated into age groups and skill level to maximize the effectiveness. These classes are not intended as conditioning, although improved overall endurance will be another benefit of the program. We will be focused primarily on improving foot speed, quicknees, agility and the ability and lateral movement with power.
You should attend these sessions if you are committed to making yourself a better athlete and are prepared to work hard. These sessions are for serious football players.
The program will run up until our voluntary conditioning starts in July. Feel free to bring your friends. This program is open to all Medina athletes ages 8 and older. This includes junior high athletes. Once again, be prepared to work hard.
Although, no registration is required, please e-mail if you will be participating and what days for our planning.
