Welcome to the Mayo Athletic Association

Welcome to the Mayo Athletic Association website. The 2009 spring season is under way! As you can see, our all-volunteer organization produces the kind of results every community dreams of: Fun, Victory, and Team Spirit!

We welcome your volunteer support and participation as players, coaches, team parents, helpers, concession stand workers, web-site sports writers and patrons of our apparel. We will continue to add content to this site and post team feature stories as they become available. If you'd like to submit articles or pictures of your team, game, or any other MAA event please send them to the Webmaster. Any pictures submitted need to be in the .jpg or .gif format.

There are three ways to find information on this website. The sports buttons on the sidebar provide the latest general information from the county and 1-click access to the current season information. Alternatively, you can go directly to the season information by scrolling to the bottom of the page and choosing a sport link. You may miss important announcements with this shortcut, so please be sure to click the general info reverse link on the season page, if you bypass it the first time around. Don't forget to read the newsletter and check important news from the home page too.

And a great time was had by all.

Thanks to everyone who made Mayo Day a success!  Thanks to the faithful, hardworking volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day.  Thanks to the loyal patrons who came out to cheer Mayo and support the athletic association.  And most of all THANK YOU MOTHER NATURE for the beautiful weather!

Handout: Youth Player Contract

Get your team 15 minutes in the Sun!

Would you like to make sure your team gets the recognition it deserves? Jot down a few facts from a game. Give as many people credit as possible and send it to any web feature writer in the contact list. We will do our best to get it up on the website quickly. If you have a digital picture and the folks in it have given you permission to make them famous for awhile, send it with your email. Pictures must be saved as a .jpg.

Important Information About Background Checks and Coach Certification Clinics For Volunteers

Any member of the Mayo Athletic Association who, as a representative of the Association, has the opportunity to interact with children in any capacity is required by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks to have a current background check. The objectives of the County's background check program are to ensure that children have "a safe and positive experience and to provide parents with peace of mind".

Examples of individuals requiring background checks are coaches, assistant coaches, commissioners, and any representative of MAA with care, custody, or control of children. For a more complete list of the individuals required to have a background check, as well as additional information about the County’s background check program, click on Anne Arundel County Background Check Program.

To download a copy of the background check form, click Background Investigation Authorization Form. Drop off or mail the completed form to:

Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks
1 Harry S. Truman Parkway

Attn: Background Check Program
OR
Fax form to: (410) 222-4439
