Welcome to the website for the Shenandoah Valley Mavericks 14U Fastpitch Softball Team. Feel free to view all of our posted information and don't forget to sign our guestbook before leaving! BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAVERICKS: The Mavericks were formed in 2003 by a group of high school coaches, players and parents. We saw our area falling behind in the game of fastpitch softball and knew we had to get better to remain competitive. A lot of hard work was put in by all involved to get the team started. We began tournament play in May 2003 entering the Hunt Country Classic in Purcellville VA. We finished our first season by actually winning our final tournament in Henrico VA.2004 saw us double in size as we expanded to two teams by adding a 16U team. Both teams had good seasons and qualified for and participated in PONY Nationals. Both teams returned to compete again in 2005. The 14U team had 13 players from six different schools and the 16U team had 15 players from 10 different schools. The 16U team had an awesome season winning two tournaments and qualifying for both the PONY & USSSSA Nationals. The 14U team also qualified for PONY Nationals. Both teams participated in PONY Nationals for the 2nd straight year! With our popularity continuing to increase, we expanded again in 2006. We formed 12U & 18U teams to go along with our existing 14U & 16U teams. For 2007, we will have two 12u teams, two 14u teams and a 16u team. Congratulatulations to all the players and best wishes in the upcoming season. We are hosting 3 Tournaments this year in the Winchester VA area! The first is May 19-20. It is sanctioned by USSSA and is a National Qualifier for 10u, 12u & 14u teams. Participants are guaranteed 5 games with 3 pool games on Saturday and double-elimination on Sunday. The 2nd is June 9-10. It a NSA National Qualifier and is for 12u, 14u & 16u teams. It follows the same format as the above with a 5GG. The 3rd is July 14-15 is a PONY National Qualifier for 12u, 14u, 16u & 18u. Again, it is a 5GG with 3 pool games onSaturday and double-elimination on Sunday.
