I am proud to announce that Mattoon Post 88's very own Gil Metzger will be sharing his hitting knowledge with ball players from the age's of 9 to 19.
Gil is very knowledgable in the art of hitting. During his high school Sr. year, he hit .577, set three Mattoon High School records for hits (77) RBI's (80) and batting avg. (.577). After High School, and an Illinois State High School record for RBI's in a single season (80). Gil went on to LLC and then on to Weber International University in Florida where he averaged a .314 batting average and started all 4 years at 1st base. Gil also coached with Coach Smitz of EIU and learned alot of drill's from him to help fine tune minor flaws in a young man's swing.
Gil will teach the entire hitting swing from the approach to the finish, concentrating on the proper load and weight transfer, angle of the head and bat for good contact on the ball. Last is a good follow through for power. Gil's philosophy along with Post 88's is to hit line drives and hard ground balls, doubles are better than Home Runs and OBP is just as important as batting average, and that Tee work is the most important way to becoming a good hitter.
Price will be $25 an hour or $12 for a half hour. Call or email Gil at 217-259-6595 or gilmetzger@gmail.com
