Matt is an outfielder for the Tar Heel baseball team.
EAST MECKLENBURG HIGH:
2005 (Senior)
Matt was the starting LF for the Eagles. Matt finished with a .313 average (26-83) and 3 HR's. He was selected all-conference and all-state. The Eagles finished 16-12, playing in the conference championship game for the 3rd straight year. The Eagles advanced to the state playoff round of 16.
2004 (Junior)
Matt was the starting LF for the East Meck Varsity, helping them to the SW4A Championship game. Matt batted .270 (20-74) and led the team in walks (17), runs (23), hit by pitch (7) and stolen bases (12). His on base percentage was .440. Matt received the Most Valuable Outfielder Award.
2003 (Sophomore)
Matt was a starter for the East Meck Varsity, helping the Eagles win the SW4A Conference championship. Matt finished the season with a .250 average. Matt was co-Rookie of the Year for the Eagles.
2002 (Freshman)
Matt was the starting centerfielder on the East Meck JV team as a freshman. Matt was co-MVP for the JV team, batting over .350 on the season.

2005 CHARLOTTE AMERICAN LEGION:
Matt was a starting OF for Charlotte American Legion, leading the team with a .324 average (22-68) and 3 HR's.
2004 MATTHEWS COUGARS:
Matt batted .400 (4-10) in 5 games for the Cougars.
2003 CHARLOTTE RHINOS:
Matt was a starter for the Rhinos 18u select team, batting .318 on the season. Matt helped the Rhinos win the AABC regular season championship.
2002 COUGARS:
Matt helped the Cougars win a State Championship and earn a World Series berth. He finished the season batting .370 with 34 stolen bases in 31 games. Matt was selected a Most Valuable Player for the team.
2001 AAU:
Matt was a member of the Charlotte Royals and a teammate of former Cougar Dane Arnesen.The Royals were one of the better AAU teams in the state in 2001.

Matt was a JV & Varsity Football player at East Meck in 2001 as a freshman. In 2002, Matt was a starting WR with the varsity, catching 40 passes. Matt was a starting WR and punter for the Eagles in 2003 as a Junior. In 2004, Matt was an all-conference selection at WR, helping the Eagles to the state playoffs.
