The team produced numerous scholar athletes and several graduating Seniors are planning to play at the colletiate level. In 2004, the Miramonte Women's Water Polo Team placed 6th in the North Coast Section! In 2003, the Lady Mats were the North Coast Section 2nd Place Team! The North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation consists of 170 member schools. The Miramonte Women's Water Polo Team was established in the fall of 1993. In the first decade, the team has won five league championships and three North Coast Section Championships. In 2003, the Mats played for the DFAL Championships. The Mats have had eight High School All Americans and two NCS MVP's. Numerous graduates have gone on to play water polo in colleges across the county including UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, Dartmouth, Stanford, University of Maryland, Long Beach State, Villanova, Bucknell Harvard,and DVC. Miramonte Alumni Heather Petri is a member of the 2004 Women's Water Polo Olympic Team! Miramonte is very proud of this winning tradition, combining athletic and academic excellence. Our success has been accomplished through the hard work and dedication of both coaches and players. |
