After Winning Regular Season Championship, Rising 8th Grade Team Takes Silver Medal in Tournament
After finishing tied for the regular season championship with a 9-1 record, the Matrix Rising 8th Grade White team took home the silver medal in the post-season 13-Under Division 2 tournament to cap a very successful summer season.

Coaches Nick Cannon and Chis Trahant fielded two teams this summer – Matrix Green and Matrix White – double rostering almost every player.  While this created lots of playing opportunities for the girls, the challenge was having the girls learn to play together in a short amount of time without any practices.  The girls took to each other very quickly and it showed.

After losing the team’s very first game, the team didn't lose again until the championship game (except for forfeits due to not enough players).  The teams’ rosters consisted of players from the Matrix 12U Black and Green AAU teams, with new players added from Arlington and McLean that hadn’t played since the winter travel season.

The two Rising 8th Grade Matrix teams had a lot of fun and experienced a lot of success on the court.  Both coaches are very proud of the growth of the players and felt that the team(s) played very well together.
