Matrix 10U Black Teams Wins Three Games to Take Silver Medal at Districts
Congratulations to the Matrix 10U Black team coached by Coach Jess Garay for winning the silver medal at the 2008 10U-Under Division II Potomac Valley District Qualifying Tournament ("DQT") on May 18, 2008.

The
Matrix had to win three games, including two nail-biters, including an overtime win in the semi-finals to make it to the finals.

In their first game of pool play, the Matrix defeated the eventual bronze medal winning Maryland Lady Pistons 23-19.  The girls then won their pool with a 30-16 win over the Fairfax Stars Maroon team to advance to the Medal Round.

In the semi-finals, the Matrix had to come from behind against the rival Vogues-Skwara team.  The Matrix completed a big comeback to tie the game in reglulation before shutting out the Vogues 5-0 in overtime to win a trip to the final with a 21-16 win.

The Matrix came out ice cold in the final and couldn't get it going in the first half.  The team came to life in the second half and competed hard before falling 26-13 to a very good Classics team.

With this being the first year that the Matrix has competed in Districts, with the 10U Black team's 2-0 record in pool play, they became the first Matrix team to win their pool at Districts.  Then with their silver medal, the 10U Black team earned the club's highest medal by winning the silver.

Congratulations 10U Black!
