Matrix 9U Fall 26-33 to Regional Champs Fairfax Stars in Back and Forth Game; See Pictures
In well played game by both teams, the 2006 regional champion 9U Fairfax Stars held off Matrix 9U girls by the final score of 33-26 on Wednesday, June 14.  The Matrix played a good game, leading at halftime 14-12.  But in the end, the Stars skills, experience and aggressiveness on both ends of the floor proved to be just a bit too much for the home team.

The pre-game activities were also fun for the girls as each player was introduced individually to the cheers of the big crowd on hand for the game.

The Fairfax Stars were led by Arlington resident "Magic" Mikayla Venson with 10 points and McLean resident Marta Sniezek with 9 points.  Arlington's Jordan Rivera chipped in 4 points for the Stars.

The Matrix were led by the 6 points of Christina "Big Red" Rebh, the 5 points of Brooke Maloney and the 4 points of Lauren "Cruiser" Karpinski and Reilly Burlingame.

Other Matrix 9U players include Sophia Sither, Janel Moore, Lindsey Paul, Leah Young, Tatianna Torres, Sarah Woodward, Haley Molnar and Taylor Leonard.  The Matrix 9U Spring team is led by head coach Megan Carney and assistant coach John Burlingame.

The 9U team had an excellent season that included two undefeated weekend tournaments.
