In Fairfax Stars Summer League championship games both held at Lee High School at 8:45 last night, the 10U Matrix Black team and the Matrix 11U Black team brought home runner-up trophies.

Coach Kevin Brown's Matrix 11U Black team fell to #2 seed Vienna in the G11 Division 1 championship game.  It was a tight game in the first half as the Matrix trailed by 1 at the break.  However, Vienna ran off a 17-3 scoring spree at the beginning of the 2nd half.  The final score was  by the final score of 44-21.

Coach Jim Butler's Matrix 10U Black team fell to #2 Braddock Road in a similar fashion.  The 10U team was also close at the half, trailing by just 4 points after leading early in the game.  But Braddock Road's pressure defense created too many turnovers as the Matrix ultimtely fell short in its championship run by the final score of 22-8.

Still, congratulations to the players and coaches of these two Matrix teams as making it to the finals is still an excellent achievement.  Click
