Stats
Lowell Girls Softball (18U) - June 9 thru June 11
The weather did not cooperate on Saturday. All games for Saturday were cancelled. This resulted in a single elimination tournament on Sunday.
Mass Pressure 6 - Dracut Panthers 0
Our first opponent was the Dracut Panthers. The Pressure looked good in their first game of the 2006 season and defeated the Panthers 6 - 0. Great pitching by Geena, fine fielding and some timely hitting (led by Erica) resulted in a win for the Pressure.
Mass Pressure 1 - Mass Destruction 9
Our next opponent was eventual tournament champion Mass Destruction. The Pressure played with the Destruction for the first two innings leading 1 - 0. In the third inning the Pressure made some mistakes and the Destruction took advantage and scored seven runs in an ugly third inning for the Pressure.

| Fathers Day Bash Champs |
Mass Pressure 2 - Firecracker Brats 1
Geena and Kerry led the way to victory with some great pitching against the host Firecracker Brats team.
Mass Pressure 6 - Bay State Shamrocks 0
Katie pitched a complete game no-hitter and the offense flexed their muscles led by Erica as the Pressure defeated the Shamrocks.
Mass Pressure 1 - Seacoast Hurricanes 1
Some great pitching and defense from both teams resulted in an 8 inning time limit tie with the Seacoast Hurricanes. Kerry and Geena did a great job pitching, Chuckie made a 'highlight reel' catch in centerfield, Keryn made a fine running catch of a popup and Tricia hit a monster triple for the Pressure. A very exciting and close game.
~#2 Seed~
Mass Pressure 3 - Bay State Shamrocks 2
The Shamrocks gave the Pressure all they could handle in this game. Haley hit a clutch bottom of the 7th triple and was knocked in by Chuckie for the winning run to put the Pressure into the next round of the tournament. Katie and Geena threw well for the Pressure.
Mass Pressure 4 - Raiders 2
A very exciting game! Kerry pitched a great game and the Pressure were efficient in scoring their baserunners as they defeated the Raiders to go to the championship game.
~(Championship Game)~
Mass Pressure 3 - Mass Commotion 1
It was extremely hot and the Pressure were playing their third game in a row, but they had enough left to win their first tournament championship of the year. Erica led the way with a powerful game at the plate by clouting two triples and Tricia hit a clutch two run single to put the Pressure in the lead for good. Geena and Katie kept the very good hitting Commotion team in check. There were many fine fielding plays in this game led by Briana in the outfield. Lauren had a fine tournament as our catcher.

| 3rd Place |
Mass Pressure 2 - Tanner Pride 2
An early start and both teams played a little sluggishly resulting in a tie. Kerry pitched well.
Mass Pressure 4 - Mass Wildcats 1
Lauren and Haley led the offense, Katie pitched well and the defense turned two double plays.
Mass Pressure 9 - Northeast Invasion 1
Geena pitched a strong game and the Pressure bats came alive with poweful hits by Erica and Keryn.
Mass Pressure 4 - NE Firebirds Blue (DB) 6
A strong Firebirds team prevailed in this close game. The lead changed hands a few times but the Pressure could not score enough to win this game.
Mass Pressure 7 - Taunton Dynamites 1
The Pressure's bats were led by Erin and Chuckie while Katie pitched a strong complete game.
Mass Pressure 4 - Bay State Shamrocks 3
Our old friends the Shamrocks once again gave us all we could handle. The Pressure win a very tight game with a few controversial calls thrown in, too.
Mass Pressure 8 - Queensbury Royals 3
Katie and Geena pitched well to win this early morning game.
~Double Elimination~
Mass Pressure 4 - NE Firebirds Blue (DB) 0
Kerry and Geena combined to pitch a shutout and the defense was strong as the Pressure revenged a loss from the day before. Keryn came up with a clutch hit late in the game to give the Pressure some breathing room.
Mass Pressure 2 - Locomotion 3
The Pressure couldn't keep the intensity they had from the previous game and the Locomotion played well to beat the Pressure. Geena pitched well in defeat.
Mass Pressure 5 - NE Firebirds Blue (DB) 2
For the third time in this tournament the Pressure and Firebirds met in another emotional contest. Once again Kerry and Geena pitched well, Chuckie led the hitting and the fielding was terrific as the Pressure stay alive.
~Finals of the Losers Bracket~
Mass Pressure 0 - Boston Batbusters 1
It looks like the best way to beat the Pressure is to face them immediately after they play the Firebirds. The Pressure couldn't take advantage of their scoring opportunities and lost late in the game to a good Batbuster team. Katie and Geena pitched a strong game in defeat.
~~~~~~~~
Great eleven game tournament for the Pressure, finishing in third place in a thirty four team tournament. The teams defense was fabulous with all contributing.
NSA States - July 7 thru July 9
Mass Pressure 2 - Bay State Brats 10
The Pressure hitting couldn't keep up with the Brats hitting, resulting in a lopsided loss.
Mass Pressure 10 - South Shore Stingers 0
Pitching, fielding and hitting were all there as the Pressure win a lopsided game.
Mass Pressure 3 - Wachuset Wrath 4 (8 innings)
The Pressure let this one get away. The Wrath played well and the Pressure left too many on base and it came back to haunt them. This just wasn't one of the better Pressure performances and as a result it was a very early exit from the tournament.
Tradition Showcase - July 13 thru 16
Mass Pressure 1 - Xtreme Chaos NP 1
The Pressure had a two out, 1 - 0 lead in the 7th but some shaky fielding allowed a run to score and the result was a tie. Katie pitched a great game. Erica hit a triple to highlight an otherwise quiet game at the plate for the Pressure.
Mass Pressure 1 - Renegades CT 2
The Pressure again had a 1 - 0 lead in the bottom of the 7th but couldn't finish it off, allowing two runs to score, resulting in a tough loss. Kerry and Geena combined to pitch a great game. The bats were better than the previous game but still pretty quiet.
Mass Pressure 2 - Challenge NY 3
This time the Pressure battled back from a 3 - 0 deficit to have the tying and winning runs at second and third with two outs in the bottom of the 7th, but couldn't get the runs to score and lost another tough one by a run. Geena and Katie combined to pitch a great game against a strong Challenge squad. The Pressure bats started to come alive led by Erica with a monster smash to left.
~Single Elimination Sunday~
Mass Pressure 0 - Bay State Brats 6
Well, we travelled all the way to CT to play our local rivals the Brats. As in our previous meeting with the Brats, the Pressure offense could not keep up with the offense of the Brats and we lost. Katie and Kerry pitched well in defeat.
SUMMARY: The Pressure pitching remains outstanding and the defense was nearly perfect but the offense had a tough weekend. We played some great competition and this tournament should help us improve for the NSA World Series next week.
Once again Lauren was phenomenal as our catcher in this tournament.
NSA World Series - July 23 thru July 28
Mass Pressure 3 - North Penn Eclipse 1 (9 Inning Scrimmage)
Great competition with good play from both teams. All our pitchers got some work and did well. A special thanks to the Eclipse for their time and also for providing an umpire.
Mass Pressure 14 - Lancaster Thunder (OH) 4
The bats were on (led by Keryn) and the fielding and pitching was strong as the Pressure win their first World Series game!
Mass Pressure 2 - Eastern Valley Waves (PA) 0
Katie and Geena combined to pitch a solid shutout against a strong Waves team. The fielding and base running was especially good in this game.
~Double Elimination~
Mass Pressure 0 - Dynamite QC Dreamers (IL) 2 (8 Innings)
Geena pitched a great game but the Dreamers pitcher was literally 'unhittable' and the Pressure lost in the International Tie Breaker. What a tough luck draw to start the double elimination tournament.
Mass Pressure 4 - Michigan Bulldogs (MI) 5
In one of the most exciting games played this year, the Pressure and the Bulldogs exchanged the lead a number of times and the Pressure had 'the pressure on' in the seventh inning with the tying run on second base but could not get the run to score and lost a close and well played game by both teams.
Note:
Even though we didn't go as far as we'd have liked to in the tournament, the Pressure played very competitively in all their games and represented Massachusetts NSA Softball well.
~Single Elimination~
Mass Pressure 5 - Hudson Heat Blue 2
Kerry pitched another good game and the Pressure bats continued to look good led by Keryn, Chuckie and Erica.
Mass Pressure 1 - North Shore Storm 0
Geena pitched a great game in a hard fought pitchers duel. The Pressure displayed some good fielding plays to preserve the shutout and the victory.
~Championship Game~
Mass Pressure 5 - Boston Batbusters 3
Katie got the start and the win with relief help from Kerry and Geena as the Pressure won their second tournament of the season! All three pitchers did a great job in this game. Keryn led the fielding, Lauren had a great game behind the plate and Erica and Erin hit RBI doubles to highlight a five run second inning.
Erica enjoyed a HUGE Saturday, hitting two home runs and two triples to lead the Pressure offense this weekend!
--------------------------------
The Pressure enjoyed a very productive and fun 2006 season. Our final winning percentage was .667 with two tournament victories and one third place finish. We are looking forward to continuing our success in 2007 at the 18U age group.
Thanks to all the parents, grand parents, siblings and pets for their support and cheers!
A special thank you to two talented coaches Rich and Jen for all their time and effort. It was an awesome experience!
