Sam Zambanini will begin his fourth year on the coaching staff, bringing 29 years of AAABA and High School coaching experience.
Zambanini played collegiately for Allegany College of Maryland and IUP. He played Minor League ball for the Harrisonburg Turks (New York Mets). He played for Dr. Walker's in the AAABA League, winning the league batting title in 1980 and 1981. He was named League MVP in 1980.
Zambanini managed Coca-Cola to the 1985 AAABA Tournament. He also coached in the AAABA Tournament three times as an assistant coach, in 1982 with Coca-Cola and in 1989 and 1990 with Pepsi.
Zambanini took over as head baseball coach at Conemaugh Township High School in 1993, where he has over 200 wins. He was named Somerset County Coach of the Year five times, won five District V championships, won three Somerset County League titles, and two conference championships. He also was named head football coach in 1999, leading them to a District V championship in 2003.
Zambanini is employed as a Physical Education teacher at Conemaugh Township High School. He and his wife, Valerie, reside in Hollsopple. They have two children, Arek and Kayla, and one grandson.
