JUNIOR MUSTANG FOOTBALL PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
We prepare our football players with proper and safe techniques so they can excel in playing football at Marquette High School, stressing hard work, good grades and good Sportsmanship.
How do we do this?
Our Coaches primary reason for participating is for the kids.
Team Unity, support of your teammates, respect of yourself and Team Pride are our core values.
We stress, “The way you practice is the way you play”. Most football skills are learned in practice. We emphasize more importance about practicing than we do the actual games.
Each team starts 11 Players on Offense and 11 different Players on Defense; 22 total starters.
Marquette Junior Mustang Coaches learn techniques and drills from Marquette High School Coaches and work closely with the High School Coaching Staff during summer camps and training sessions.
Each player learns at least one Offensive and one Defensive Position.
We try to teach players techniques and skills at positions they will play in High School.
There are no required work duties for our Families. Our Player’s Registration fees are also much lower.
We play MSHSAA Freshmen Football rules, our games are 9:00 minute Quarters, all other Junior Leagues in our area use 8:00 quarters. We can offer more playing time than other area Junior Leagues.
Our 6th, 7th and 8th grade Teams have "B" games for Non-Starters; the non-starters play the entire game. We typically have three "B" games per season. This dispels the myth of playing time issues. Other leagues give their "B" Players 8 downs a game, we give ours "B" players 3 complete games.
Our Program is about School Pride; this can not be replicated in any other junior football program.
ARE YOU PLANNING TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT MARQUETTE HIGH?
If you are going to attend Marquette High School and are interested in playing Football at Marquette we feel that it is in your best interest to play Marquette Junior Mustang Football for the following reasons:
Many strong Missouri High School Football Programs have “Feeder” Junior Football Programs, which prepare elementary, 6th, 7th, & 8th grade boys to play for their High School.
We use Marquette’s specific plays, schemes, terms and techniques so our players are not learning everything new when they are Freshman Football players, so time is spent refining the new freshmen players for their specific positions.
If you are familiar with the Marquette plays, schemes, terms and techniques you have a better chance of being successful playing Football at Marquette.
We have no weight restrictions. Kids will not need to go to extreme measures (sometimes unhealthy) to loose weight to play football.
We follow MSHSAA rules for age; other programs have “gaps” in which some 8th graders can not play because of their age restrictions. Our age classes follow the MSHSAA guidelines so all 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders can play.
You get to know and play with your teammates for the next 8 years (if you start in 5th Grade); this is when championship teams are born.
The majorities of Marquette 9th grade starters have played in the Junior Mustang Program, and are much more advanced than new comers.
The majority of the Marquette Varsity Football players played Junior Mustang Football.
The entire Marquette High Football Staff supports the Junior Mustang Program.
Marquette High School Football Coaches communicate with Marquette Junior Mustang Coaches about 8th grade players before they step foot on the practice field their freshman year, this helps the players development in the early season practices for their specific positions.
All Sign-up fees stay in the Marquette Junior Mustang and Marquette High School Football programs to support and advance your player’s development to their potential. We have “state-of-the-art” equipment in our Program; currently our entire Program wears Riddell Revolution helmets, which are the safest in football.
