The Marlton Swim Team was organized to give boys and girls the opportunity to participate in competitive age-group swimming regardless of their ability. This program aims to build a quality developmental swim program, develop aquatic skills in its members, and promote sportsmanship and team spirit. It also provides opportunities for members to make new friends and participate in group activities.
All active members of the Marlton Swim & Recreation Club between the ages of 5 and 18 who are interested in competitive age-group swimming are invited and encouraged to join the Marlton Swim Team. The Marlton Marlins swim in the Prince-Mont Swim League (PMSL). Visit Prince-Mont (PMSL) for current league information.
2009 SEASON DATES - Practices will start in the evenings after school on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Meets will be every Saturday from June 20, 2009 - July 25, 2009. The Marlton Awards Banquet will be Sunday, July 26, 2009. All-Stars will be Saturday, August 1, 2009. Please mark your calendars.
COST - Shareholding members of MSR pay $65 for first child, $55 for second child, and $45 for third and subsequent children in addition to yearly dues. Yearly MSR dues must be paid before any child can participate on the swim team. For information on purchasing a share and membership, go to www.marltonpool.com . Registration ends June 13, 2009.
SWIM TEAM ONLY - If you are not a shareholding member of MSR, your children may join as Swim Team Only. This fee is for the swimmer to participate during swim team functions only. Swim team only members pay $145 for first child, $125 for second child, and $105 for third and subsequent children (for one child, this works out to just $16 per week for 9 weeks of swim instruction!). Registration ends June 13, 2009.
MSR CAPS & SUITS -- Team caps cost $3 and will be available for online purchase in mid-April. Team suits cost $40 for girls, $30 for boys jammers, and $25 for boys briefs (Speedo-style). Marlton team suits are royal blue with "Marlton" imprinted in white. If you are unsure of what size to order, we will have sizing kits available the first two weeks of practice. Purchase of team suits is optional. Any competitive swim suit is acceptable. Orders for team suits will only be taken thru June 8, 2009.
PARENTS -- It is expected that parents volunteer to run the swim meets. Unlike soccer, basketball, or baseball, 50 parents are needed on the deck to help a swim meet run smoothly. Whether it be fundraising, timing, helping with the snack bar, running cards from one end of the pool to the other, scoring, writing ribbons, announcing events, or going one step further and taking a free class on officiating a swim meet -- the meets do not run unless at least one parent (sometimes both parents!) from each family volunteers at every meet they attend. Please be prepared to fulfill this commitment.
