Marietta Blue Eagles: Blue Eagles History

Blue Eagles History
In 2000 the Marietta Youth Football Association, Incorporated. The “Marietta Blue
Eagles” was founded. The idea came about from a meeting with some officers from the
Marietta Police Department. They were concerned with so many youth in the community
with nothing to do after school. They realized a need for an organized recreation. A
Board of directors was chosen and an application for membership into the North Georgia
Youth Football league was applied for, the rest is history.
After our initial startup, we were very successful. We had 9 (nine) teams in which two were undefeated. Over 300 children participated in our program. Over four years we have had 7 teams in championship games, and two championship victories. The initial start up cost was enormous but thanks to individual and corporate sponsors, the program has prospered. The lives of the children in our community were changed. Learning to work harmoniously as part of a team instills life lessons in our children that they will benefit from every day. In order for the association to continue to firmly implant good ideals in the minds of our youth, we need you to be a Blue Eagle supporter.

We have manged to keep teams in the league championship games, all but 2004 season was the only year no teams made it to the super bowl.

2005 was a great year for the associaion. The 10 year olds & head coach mark hughes went to the super bowl and lost to the East Cobb Vikings. The 11/12 year old team, Head Coach Garland Baker, won the super bowl over the Fair Oaks Lobos 45-0 and went on to participate in the Frank Ski Kids Foundation Youth Bowl II at Morris Brown College. The Blue Eagles won against the Atlanta Colts 40-6, and lost the championship round against the North Henry Tigers 38-0.
