Tigers Celebrate In Aberystwyth

There certainly won't be many clubs competing @ Manchester on May 18th who will have played more games than the tigers to get to the U.K. Finals.

Round 1 - South Wales - Caerphilly Castle 1 v 18 Mardy Tigers: - A comfortable start to what would become a dream campaign.

Round 2 - South Wales - Mardy Tigers 6 v 1 Thornhill Athletic: - A tough first half before the tigers got on top of the Cardiff outfit.

Quarter-Final - South Wales - Dinas Powys 2 v 6 Mardy Tigers: - In contrast to the last round acomfortable first period saw the tigers lead 4 v 0 at the interval only for Dinas Powys to fight back strongly in the second half.

Semi-Final - South Wales - Trefelin 0 v 3 Mardy Tigers: - The tigers booked their cup final place after a tough battle in terrible conditions against a physical side.

Final - South Wales - Mardy Tigers 7 v 0 Margam Y.C.: - On a cold evening @ Barry Town F.C. the tigers turned on the style to demolish a good Margam outfit and win the South Wales Tesco Cup in fantastic style.

Welsh Finals - Group Stage - Mardy Tigers 2 v 0 Mold: - Having travelled to Aberystwyth for the Welsh Finals the tigers found themselves facing representative teams from North Wales which was against the rules. However the girls dug in and despatched the first of them with ease.

Welsh Finals - Group Stage - Mardy Tigers 1 v 0 Llandudno: - In a winner takes all situation the tigers came through a titanic struggle against another representative side to claim a deserved place in the Welsh Cup Final.

Tesco Welsh Cup Final - Mardy Tigers 2 v 0 Llangyfelach: - A tight first half against their Swansea opponents opened up in the second period and the tigers won the cup in some style to win their place in the U.K. Finals. Ellie received player of the tournament and Jade received the cup from former Wales international Neville Southall

8 matches and almost 7 hours of football has seen the tigers on their way to the City Of Manchester Stadium on Sun. May 18th where they'll face Scottish side Clyde Cumbernauld for a place in the U.K. Final to be played later the same day against the winner of the England v Northern Ireland semi-final. A full report will appear here on Monday following what promises to be a very special weekend for Mardy Tigers Girls' F.C.

Tesco U.K. Cup Finals -

Semi - Final - Mardy Tigers - WALES 1 v 0 Clyde Cumbernauld - SCOTLAND: - The tigers entered the City Of Manchester Stadium to loud cheers from all the Welsh supporters and were told to go out and enjoy the chance in a lifetime. Enjoy they certainly did especially when Amy lobbed the keeper just before half-time to give the tigers a lead that they never gave up. Fantastic defending in the second half booked them a place in the U.K. Final against Northern Belles from Ireland who beat Preston North End from England 1 v 0 in the other semi-final.

Final: - Mardy Tigers - WALES 0 v 0 Northern Belles - NORTHERN IRELAND - After Extra-Time Mardy Tigers Lost 3 v 4 On Penalties. What an occasion: - the pitch, the stadium, the fans and the watching Trevor Brooking & Paul Merson could the tigers rise to it against what has to be said an Irish representative side littered with internationals. When Ellie hit the bar in the first minute who was to know it would be the first of three occasions the same cross bar would be struck by the tigers which would eventually cost them the title. The tigers gave absolutely everything in both attack and defence but the elusive goal just wouldn't come and when extra-time came and went penalties were to decide the U.K. Final. Inches seperated the tigers from glory when on 2 strikes they hit the bar and eventually lost 3 v 4 in a nail biter of a finish. The whole club can be very proud of the squad who played 10 matches in the Tesco Cup this season winning 9 and drawing the final. The memories of that great day in Manchester will live with everyone forever as the tigers move forward as a club and look to future successes.

TESCO CUP RECORD: -
