Mardy Tigers F.C. 2010 Presentation Evening
Saturday July 3rd.
@ Alice Springs Golf Club.
7.00 - 11.30p.m.
Over 140 guests attended this very special event to celebrate what had been a quite remarkable season in the history of the club. A sumptuous buffet kicked off the evening in fine style and once "The Tigers" had all been fed it was time for the speeches and awrds ceremony. A very proud Club Chairman Mr. Wayne Edwards welcomed everyone and congratulated the girls on what had been achieved over the past 12 months. Club Secretary and coach Wayne Jeremiah then took to the floor. He began by thanking the club committee for all their hard work, club sponsors for their generosity and his club captains Jade & Shauna for their fantastic leadership on the pitch last season. Special thanks & presentations went to: - "Big Wayne", Richie, Martin & Tracey, Tony, "Our Nan" & Lorraine for everything they'd done for the club. Lastly he thanked "The Barmy Army" for their fantastic support - "Simply The Best". A summary of the season then followed: -
Under 10's - Had a super first season playing in The South Wales Girls League weekly festivals. Numbers had grown to 15 by the end of the season and summer trips to Gloucester & Caerphilly tournaments had brought their first silverware.
Under 14's - Had done remarkably well considering they'd played the whole season with just 13 players. Winning The Gwent Tesco Cup was the highlight of the campaign whilst finishing runners-up in the league was also a great achievement. Defeat in the league cup semi-final to Dinas Powys may have ended their season but it was one the girls can be very proud of.
Under 16's - Putting into words what this squad of players had done in the past 12 months wasn't easy. Having started back in August by winning The English Cup @ Shrewsbury no-one could've forecast what was about to happen. League Champions, League Cup Joint Winners, Gwent Tesco Cup Winners, Mitre Ultimatch Brean Sands Cup Winners, Gloucester City Champions, Caerphilly Castle Champions & WELSH CUP Winners!!! This wasn't a dream but really happened and nobody can deny they didn't deserve it. A more dedicated bunch of players you'll never find and Jade lifting The Welsh Cup above her head @ Caersws will live forever in the memory. Representative honours came for Jade Edwards & Rhian Cleverly with the S.W.G.L. team and no fewer than FOUR tigers played for WALES U.16's in Scotland. Congratulations went to: - Sophie, Rhian, Zoe & Ellie.
Now was the time for the individual honours to be announced and below is a list of who won what: -
Sharla Passariello Special Achievement Award - Rhian Cleverly.
"300 Goals" Club Award - Kate Jeremiah

Everyone outside for some photographs in the evening sunshine overlooking the 18th green.
Then it was time for something special. Our very own Frankie wesson with guitar in hand performed three classic songs infront of a spellbound audience. What a treat for everyone that turned out to be. With all the formallities over it was time to relax, have a pint or two with friends and watch the tigers take to the dance floor to strut their stuff. A perfect end to a perfect season. As I left the building just before midnight, Welsh Cup in hand, it was with huge pride looking back at the last MAGNIFICENT 7 years.
