The Girls closed the regular season on a high note, and one they’re hoping it works

well for them  when the postseason begins.

In a preview of a Division 3 district semifinal, Manistee swept Shelby on Friday, winning the

opener 8-4 and the second game 5-1.

Shelby took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the opener, but Manistee responded with two in the

bottom half on back-to-back doubles by Tyla and Alyssa, followed by a sacrifice fly by Megan.

The Tarnowski sisters had three hits apiece while Alyssa led the way with a pair of doubles and

three RBIs

singled in a run.

Destiny got the win after allowing one earned run on seven hits with four strikeouts over six i

nnings while the Chippewas backed her up with 10 hits.

The Chippewas picked up where they left off by scoring four runs in the first inning of the second game.

After Haley doubled and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches, Alyssa had an RBI single

and Megan followed with an RBI double before scoring on a passed ball for a 4-0 lead

That was more than enough offense for Jamee , who picked up the win after allowing just one run on

six hits.

“She was solid up there for us,” said Coach Denise, who opted not to throw Haley in the second game

Haley, Alyssa and Shawnna all had two hits in the second game for the Chippewas, who will look to eliminate the Tigers for a fourth straight year on June 2.
