Marinette-Menominee YMCA Stingrays
Welcome to the home of the Marinette-Menominee YMCA Stingray Swim Team. We are a competitive swim team with both winter and summer teams. Winter Season runs from Mid-October to end of March. Summer Season from Mid-May to end of July.
The YMCA Swim Team is designed for EVERYONE in the community. We DO NOT have a limit on the number of swimmers and at competitive swim meets EVERYONE swims. Our motto is "EVERYONE SWIMS EVERYONE WINS".
We only have 3 requirements to join the team.
- Ages 5 to 21
- Able to swim two lengths(50 yards)of the pool on
your front and two lengths(50 yards)of the pool
on your back
- Swimmer needs to be a YMCA member
Our swim team coaches will teach your child everything else about competitive swimming. However, keep in mind that this is a competitive swim team and that the focus is on the competitive strokes. It is not a substitute for swim lessons.
We do not have any requirements for the number of practices you are required to attend. Our coaching staff does have certain recommendations that will help your child attain the goals they set for themselves. These recommendations vary depending on the goals set and the age of your child.
We also have no requirements for the number of swim meets you are required to attend. For our summer season we have approximately 3 meets. During the winter we have approximately 11 to 14 meets. You pick the meets that you wish to attend. However, swim meets are the only way a swimmer can judge their progress/performance.
Swimmers compete against others in their own age group. Depending on the meet, awards are usually given out to the top 6 to 16 finishes. If a swimmers does not receive an award but achieves their own personal best then they will receive a personal best ribbon.
"To win at an event is nice but our main focus is on achieving goals and attaining a personal best"
