Ball is over for the summer!
TIPS FROM THE COACH

Ball is over for the summer! Take a break. Encourage your sons to go to the beach, golf or anything but baseball. Let them recharge. But now is the time for you to plan for Fall Ball.

Fall ball is a wonderful season. Some refer to this season as a developmental season but not for the right reasons. This is not a time to just goof off but a time to work on specific things. If they will be moving up to a different age group with a larger field and older players it is a great time to get acclimated. This is a great opportunity to play for another admired coach or play a different position. If he’s considering trying to switch hit, the Fall is a great time to experiment. If he is a pitcher the Fall is a great time to work on a new pitch like the splitter or circle change. He should not be particularily concerned with his stats but focus on expanding his game. If his coach is consumed with winning the Fall League to the exclusion of this kind of experimentation, you are on the wrong team.

Most teams don’t practice in the Fall so it is imperative that a player prepare on his own for success in the games. With Pickleballs you can throw quality BP to him right in the front yard without worrying about breaking the neighbor’s windows. He will be able to improve his swing all by himself. He will be ready for the game and ready to go when you get home from work after work/playing with the HANDS BACK HITTER . That is important as Daylight Saving Time ends and you lose an hour of sunlight .

Have a great and productive Fall baseball experience,
Yours In Baseball

THE COACH

The recent TIP about playing for the name on the front of the jersey not the name on the back was the most controversial I have ever written. Dozens of subscribers evidently disagreed and chose to be deleted from the list. I have to assume they believed that this baseball experience is supposed to be about the individual aggrandizement of their son not their son learning to play for the TEAM. Sadly, they think the TEAM concept will hinder their son from “making it”. They are not only wrong but are guilty of depriving their sons of a valuable lesson in life that will make them better members of society.
