MANCHESTER BEARS: History

MANCHESTER BEARS HISTORY

The Manchester Bears Senior Football Club was founded in 1991 and is a member of the Northeast Junior High Football League. The League is currently comprised of 15 teams from Southern New Hampshire and Northeastern Massachusetts. Prior to the Bears inception in 1991, youth from Manchester and the surrounding communities who did not meet the weight restrictions of Pop Warner Football had no alternative team to play for. Seeing a need for an alternative for these children, Rick Serodio and a group of other concerned parents from the Manchester area founded the Manchester Bears in the summer of 1991. The Bears play in a League which has no size or weight restrictions on its players. Other than simply providing a team for which larger children could play, the founders of the Bears had other objectives in mind as well. Primarily, the objective of the Manchester Bears is to instill in our Players a sense of pride in achievement, discipline both on the field and in the classroom, and a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. We teach our Players that without these strong character traits, success on the field or in the classroom is of little real value. As we prepare for the upcoming season, we will continue to refine our program in a never-ending effort to provide the youth of the Greater Manchester area a meaningful football experience with a proud tradition of success both on and off the football field.
