Nancy Cothron (10 Yrs): Nancy Cothron is the Director of Manatee Area Volleyball, the Varsity coach at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School and coaches different age groups for the club. She was born in Tampa and competed on the track, basketball, cross country teams at her high school, but found volleyball to be her true love. One year of high school and playing beach volleyball every day was enough for Coach Cothron to become a starter for the FSU squad. Nancy joined the squad as a walk-on in 1977 and competed in both volleyball and track for the Seminoles. “My greatest blessing was to be coached by Dr. Cecile Reynaud for four years” Cecile is well known in the volleyball community, has written many books for coaches and players and travels the world teaching and learning about volleyball. Nancy played both professionally indoor an on the beach over in Europe. She returned home and continued playing on the professional beach tour, met and married her husband Tony Cothron. They have 3 boys together and two are currently in college exploring their potential volleyball careers as walk-ons. “We started this club to help those players who want to improve and get better at playing volleyball. My goals as a coach are to teach the fundamentals and strategies of volleyball, but more importantly to teach some of the lifelong lessons of commitment to team, strong work ethic, sacrifice and so many other great lessons we can take from this true team sport. During the 20 years that this club has been in existence, we have seen players, parents and coaches come and go. The greatest gift that I get and the true test that we have done our best as coaches, is when we see past players still playing or even coaching this wonderful game.”IMPACT Cadre for the Florida Region, AVCA member, CAP I and II certified Email: tcothron@tampabay.rr.com Phone: (941) 915 3097 or (941) 748 1093 School: Southeast High School Team: 2013 16's or 17's and 12's |
