2014 League Rules

The attached file should include a copy of our 2014 League rules. You'll notice that the rules have expanded from 2 pages to 4, this was necessary in order to include rules from Manalapan Township since the Adult Slo-Pitch Softball League is now part of the Manalapan Recreation Program. Please read through all of the pages and make sure your players are familiar with new policies, procedures and rules.

The Township additions that you need to read are the 1st and last sections titled Organization and Injuries. Our typical league rules are in the 2 middle sections titled League Rules and General Policies.

g. Any batter hitting a ball through the pitchers mound area will be declared out and the ball will be dead. All runners will return to their original bases. This rule will be called the 3 foot halo rule and is in place to help protect the pitcher.

Also, for new teams, the home run rule simply stated is listed below for your review:

Home Run Rules by Division:

Upper Division Teams - 1 up home run rule after 4 home runs have been hit by each team.

Lower Division Teams - 4 home runs per team per game.

Crossover Division Games - 4 home runs per team per game.

Please bring a set of throw down bases to Field # 1 and Field # 5. If a team has supplied themselves with a Double Sided First base, it must be used. We will be using 2 new balls per game.  All games are 7 inning doubleheaders and there is a 10 run mercy rule in effect after the losing team has had at least 5 at bats.

To All 2014 SPRING/SUMMER SOFTBALL TEAMS:

This is a reminder to all of you about the NO DRINKING alcohol policy at the Manalapan Recreation Center (MRC). We have received reports about teams drinking before, during and after games on the fields and in the parking lots. The League just wanted to remind you that drinking alcohol in the MRC is against the rules and your players and entire team face a suspension from the park if the MRC Supervisors decide to pursue the issue. This is a Township rule and policy, our League has no control over the consequences for players and teams caught drinking in the park. Past precedence has shown that you could be facing a minimum of a 1 month suspension to as much as a 1 year ban from use of the MRC; so not only will you or your team not be able to play in our League, but you will not be allowed to use the park. So far, violating players and teams have not been turned in; however, know that you have been spotted and empty beer cans have been found on and around the fields. Just fair warning, I suggest to those that have been drinking in the park that you stop the practice before your team faces some form of consequence from Manalapan Township.

Tuesday, April 8
Leaving empty sodas, Energy Drinks, Gatorade. and garbage on the softball benches

DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE ON THE FIELDS.

It is your responsiblity to clean up the benches once your games are completed. If this policy is not enforced, the Township will begin to charge the League for the cost involved in cleaning up the garbage. Please treat this facility as if it where your own home.

Please no alchohol beverages are to be consummed before, during or after games. if you are caught drinking on the field you will be suspended for one year and your team will be thrown out of the league.

Have a little respect!

Thank you!

Tuesday, April 8
LOITERING

AFTER THE COMPLETION OF YOUR GAMES PLEASE LEAVE THE FIELD

AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. THE PARK SUPERVISORS NEED TO CLOSE

THE PARK AND WOULD LIKE TO GO HOME WITHOUT HAVING TO CHASE

ANYONE OFF THE SOFTBALL FIELDS.

Tuesday, April 8

Metal spikes are strictly prohibited! If any player is caught wearing metal spikes, they will be ejected from the game and face possible suspension.

Tuesday, April 8
SHAVED, ROLLED, JUICED BATS.

These bats are to be used exclusively during exhibitions and home run derby's. We strenuously insist that they not be used in game playThe use of a shaved bat in games is against all sanctioned rules and regulations. Everyone needs to realize that shaved bats could potentially kill players on the softball field. They are not to be used in league play. They are strictly for home run derby's and exhibitions only.
