2010 - 2011 Board of Director’s Ballot

John Schmidt

I have had the privilege of being a coach and Mgr for MLL for 6 of the last 7 years, the last 2 seasons I have been a board member. I have been a volunteer for our league Umpire program for the last 4 seasons. In 2009 I attended The Western Region Outreach Clinic and became an accredited Umpire. For the 2010 season I was responsible for reintroducing QALL and district umpires back into Magnolia for BB and FP majors and above, I umpired games that spanned five different divisions of play. For post-season I called games for our Local AAA, and Majors BB tournaments, I was also responsible for games in the city tournaments including Juniors baseball, Minors & Majors fast pitch. I represented MLL for All star 10-11s and Majors. I had the honor, after being evaluated by the D8 UiC, of representing our district at the state level and umpired games for the 9-10s, and 10-11's. 2010 I was also Mgr of a tee ball team.
I enjoy being a league official and would like to return for a second term on the MLL board of directors.

Ian Pina

I would be interested in volunteering further in what I believe is a well established Little League program in Magnolia. I have been coaching in the Magnolia community for the past four years and enjoy working with the kids. Volunteers make a huge difference in providing the best possible sports programs for our kids. I would be more than happy to contribute my time and be able to continue the traditions of Magnolia Little League as well as provide new ideas and enthusiasm to this organization.

Vince Speziale

Having completed my first two year term, I am excited to see the
direction and energy of the league. Many positive changes have taken place and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to build on this momentum. I have one more year with Dominic and 3 more with Vinny so I plan on remaining active in the league both as a coach and board member in the near future. To me, nothing is more satisfying than watching kids develop and having fun playing a sport they love.

Keith Peterson

As past president of Magnolia Little League I had the opportunity to assist with making changes to bring a more competitive and fun environment to our league.
I would like to return to the board to continue working towards a better environment for all levels of player.  I would also like to help with the transition to a new group of board members as much of our operational knowledge is retiring from the board.

Sandra Valdivia

I have been coaching softball for the past 5 years here in Magnolia.  Every year I continue to educate myself on ways to help the girls learn the fundamentals they need to be successful in the sport and to have fun so they will want to keep coming back.  I believe that being on the board I could continue to grow the program here in Magnolia so more girls will want to play.

Coby Schultz

I'm interested in joining the MLL as a board member. Since 2005 I've coached every level of Magnolia Little League baseball but Majors and needless to say have gained a lot from it. Community has undoubtedly been the greatest gain. My two sons have made many, many close friends through MLL, as have my wife and I. As our youngest is nearly a year old, it looks as though there will be many more years and many more friends. It's my goal to join an already strong and caring group of board members to assist in maintaining a strong community and its love of baseball, and more importantly assist in building a solid future for the organization. My hopes are that there will be just as strong of an organization 10 years from now.

I have coached my son for the last 2 years in the Magnolia Little League and my 4 year old daughter will be ready for Tee Ball next season.  I have also been involved in the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce since moving here in 2001.  As a local business manager, I understand the need for volunteering and more specifically, the organized development of our children within our community.  I look forward to many more wonderful years with the Magnolia Little League.

Lori Bjorklund

I’m Lori Bjorklund.  My son began playing for Magnolia Little league when he was 5; he will be 16 next year and part of the Senior program.  I’ve been an ardent supporter of Magnolia Little League since those first Tee Ball games.   I began coaching Softball when my daughter was 7 and had the pleasure this year to take the Majors softball team to the city playoffs in Husky stadium.  I’ve been the Softball player agent for the past 5 years and enjoy every minute working with the girls.    I was Magnolia’s softball representative to the Softball City council for the past two years and chaired the group this past year.  And like most of our other volunteers, I have one of those paying Gigs from 8 – 5 J.  Softball gets me out of the office on time!

I’d like to join the board this year to continue my contribution to Magnolia Little League for both baseball and softball and keep our wonderful league going strong.
