We just heard from Coach Danny (several of you may remember him from our 1st and 2nd Challenger Camps)! He is filming yet another commerical for NIKE!!! He has been jet - setting around the world getting ready for the commerical to be aired prior to the Euro 2008 Championships - The commericals are directed by GUY Richie and we have received some photos of the footballers (for us Americans - International Soccer Stars). He has yet to see if he will be in any of the finished ones, but the filming has been taking place in England, Milan and Madrid.
Not only does he get to work out with those stars, but he too is showing them he can "hang tough." He will be sending us a "making of" the advertisement - film and we will share it as soon as we receive.
Since Danny has left Challenger - he continues is semi-pro playing splitting his time between that and shooting commericals and other advertisements! He has been in several NIKE programs!
More Updates to follow:
Madeira Youth Soccer is a purely VOLUNTEER administrated organization with a goal of providing quality services to the children in Madeira School District and those attending St. Gertrude. In any given season, we have around 450 players in the program. We are one of the founding members in The Cincinnati Hills League. We are a SAY soccer organization were our emphasis is learning while having fun!
Every season we employ a trainer to assist our coaches with practice lesson plans and to help develop our players. This is what makes our program so unusal and successful - Madeira Youth Soccer is a Pioneer in our SAY program - in employing professional trainers to work several times a season with our teams as typically that only happens with "Select" clubs. We believe this contributes to our success both in player and coaching development. All of our Coaches are volunteer coaches and we currently employ the services of a professional trainer, thru Challenger British Soccer.
Tim Dicke is in his 9th year of being the Director of the Madeira Youth Soccer program. He worked with Mariemont to form The Cincinnati Hills League. He believes that the players should have opportunities to allow them to learn the game with quality instruction, thus is an advocate for certification of coaches, employment of trainers and promoting opportunities like the Soccer Camps we host. He works countless hours answering questions, organizing and running registration process, maintaining field space, organizing schedules of practices and games, working with the league on tournaments, attending league meetings, ordering uniforms (huge job), organizing and ordering awards, preparing the fields, organizing camps and hosting camps and other items necessary to keep the program on track (just to name a few tasks) and remember this is a VOLUNTEER position. He is thankful to those who assisted him in data entry of registrations along with other volunteers who help including:
Jeff Bauer is the Referee Coordinator in charge of training, certifying, and scheduling the referees. He is typically at the fields every weekend and attends many of the league meetings for us. If you are interested in becoming a Ref, look him up! We appreciate all the work and volunteer hours he puts into the program.
Kristie Lowndes is our Treasurer in charge of the payment of bills, and expense/income reporting- and other items important to keep the Program on track. We appreciate all the hard work she puts into the program - Thanks for volunteering!
COACHES/BOARD: Chuck Demmitt, Traci Theis and Steve Daggitt round out our soccer board. Make sure you give thanks to these people and the Coaches for volunteering and giving up much (if not all) their free time - as Madeira Soccer is only as good as it's volunteers and we have some FANtastic Volunteers.
