Profile: Hugo, being a native of Lima, Peru, grew up playing soccer and was never exposed to ice hockey or inline hockey until his boys were coaxed into playing ice hockey by a neighbor in 1998. It was then that he was bitten by the hockey bug and contracted "puckitis." He is a Level 3 Certified USA Hockey Coach and has been a Head Coach and Assistant Coach from House level to the CBHL Bantam AA level for the Prince William Hockey Club over the past 10 years, and has enjoyed much success along the way, including winning both CBHL Squirt "A" playoff and regular season championships, as well as the CBHL Pee Wee "AA" playoff championship. He is currently an assistant coach for the Woodbridge High School varsity ice hockey team. Hugo has also been a head coach for many years for the ’92 inline teams at both Prince William and Mad Dogs Hockey, as well as his current position as a coach for the ‘98 Mad Dogs. He enjoys playing in the adult ice hockey league as well as following his three boys up and down the East Coast for both ice and inline games. Coach Cordova believes wholeheartedly in the cross training benefits that come from transitioning between ice hockey and inline hockey. His coaching philosophy is centered on the expectation that every skater will exhibit an unselfish and relentless desire to be a team player.
