Temple: Welcome

                        Temple Volleyball 06-07

Temple enters their third season as an official club team.  With most of the 06' squad returning and some new freshman talent, Temple has high hopes for the 07' season.  At preseason tournaments Drexel and Messiah, the Owls placed 2nd and 3rd respectfully.  Last year the Owls placed 5th in the MACVC and then continued to take 13th in DI-AA at nationals.

East Division Champs!

Temple 3 - Drexel 1
At Drexel, Temple started their season off with a win over the Dragons.  The Owls won the first game and then lost the second in a close game.  Temple went on to win the next two games and the match.  Tough defense and an effective offense gave the Owls the edge they needed.  The Owls travel next to West Chester for an inter-divisional match.

Temple 3 - West Chester 2
Missing their starting setter, Temple Freshman Josh Kropf had to step up and control the offense.  The Owls jumped out with some quick wins and led 2-0 going into the third game.  Temple led for a period of time in the third but West Chester chipped away at the lead and took the third in a close game.  In the forth game Temple saw their early two games-to-none lead collapse as West Chester took control and never looked back.  The fifth game started with West Chester taking the lead and the Owls trailing 8-5 at the split.  Temple then rallied back to win the fifth game 15-10, and took the match.

Temple 3 - Villanova 1
In their opening home game, the Owls continued their winning streak as they defeated Villanova 25-23, 26-28, 25-20, 25-17.  Temple had a strong collective performance from everyone who saw action Tuesday night.  With this win the Owls have taken over first place in the East division.  Temple hopes to keep their winning streak alive as they play Kutztown on Friday and travel to Millersville on Sunday.

Temple 2 - Kutztown 3
The Owls saw their winning streak come to an end as they lost to Kutztown in a long 5 game match, (25-16, 25-21, 17-25, 24-26, 11-15).  Temple now travels to Millersville for a tough inter-divisional match.

Temple 3- Millersville 0
Temple rebounded from their loss to Kutztown on Friday night with a win over Millersville on Sunday.  Solid blocking and team defense helped the Owls to control the game.  The Owls will finish off their week with Havorford and PSU Delco before heading into their spring break.

Temple 3- Haverford 0
The Owls saw a solid performance from the entire team as they downed Haverford 3-0.  Temple moves to 3-0 in the east with the victory.

Temple 3- PSU Delco 0
Temple now moves to 4-0 in the east after a 3-0 victory over PSU Delco.  Once again the Owls saw a strong performance from the entire team.  The Owls were carried by freshman middle hitters Ben Zook and Paul Furler, and also by stud sophmore outside hitter Pranav Amin.

Temple 3- Eastern 2
The Owls came out victorious against a strong Eastern team and made club history.  Temple took the first and third games while Eastern took the second and forth.  With the match on the line in the fifth, Temple had a strong defensive stand to finally take the victory.  With this victory the Owls have clinched the first place spot and are the east champions for first time in club history.

Temple 3- PSU Abington 1
The Owls grabbed another victory with a win over Abington on Tuesday night.  Despite poor play, Temple found momentum and closed the match in four games.  The Owls next travel for a big inter-divisional match against reigning MACVC champs Messiah College.

Temple 3- Messiah 2
In a thrilling five game match the Owls came out victorious against defending champs Messiah College.  Temple dropped the first game and then made some corrections and took the second.  The third game also belonged to Messiah and the Owls took the forth.  In the fifth the Owls were down 8-4 at the split and eventually down 12-7.  Temple dug deep and came back to win 16-14 in the fifth.  It was an overall great effort from the entire team.
