MACVC Updates April 2

Championship Team Selection Updates below..... the team selection process is complete.  Pools will be posted Thursday evening.  Please note that some teams have requested to be 4th teams in the pool to accomodate their longer travel times.  This masks some of the true seeding of the teams but as we all know - the tournament is decided on the court & the pools will be seeded as evenly as possible with the knowledge and records on hand.  Best of luck.

MACVC Meeting Minutes & Highlights

The annual MACVC meeting was held on Nov 11, 2007 at DeSales.  The agenda topics sent beforehand were covered during the meeting.  Final team alignments were decided (can be found on the Teams link on the main page.  The North division is the smallest in 2007, so the North teams may be looking for more out of division matches.  League operations were reviewed.  Aside from divisional alignments & the inclusion of Juniata, Phila Univ, Valley Forge Christian College and Rutgers New Brunswick there were no items to vote upon.  There were no key discussions at the meeting.  Divisional contact information is below & in the Latest News section.   Penn State MontAlto & Rutgers Camden have asked to join the MACVC & has been accepted by the MACVC Admin. They will be in the West division & NorthEast division respectively.

Key highlights (agenda & minutes in the handout below):

  • Libero will again be allowed to serve in 2008, unless advised there are no other rule modifications to the USAV/DCR ruleset.
  • Reminder that to cancel within 24hrs, teams are to call their opposition and officials rather than e-mail that late in the process.  Communicate with the MACVC any issues regarding forfeits or difficulties in scheduling/reaching teams.
  • Penn State Delco is now Penn State Brandywine
  • Signed release forms along with conference dues are due Dec 1, 2007.  A $100 late fee applies if now received by the due date.
  • DeSales has offered to host championships on April 5, 2008.  They will be the host again unless other bids are received by Nov 20, 2007.
  • Reminder that the Officials section on the main page contains information to contact the assignors and also information on a new 2008 Officials Contract form to help relieve team captains from chasing down payment information.
  • Spring Tournament Information is posted on the website (Feb 9 or 16 @ PS Berks, Mar 1 @ Rowan and Mar 29 @ DeSales).
  • Teams are to e-mail schedules by early February 2008 for posting to the MACVC website & teams are asked not to upload large files to the MACVC site.
