The M.A.C.S.L is an in-house competitive softball league for girls ages 10-16.

Thank you for your interest in MACS. We completed our first year of our 12U division in July. Our 15U division was completed on Aug. 16th.

There are several differences between "rec. leagues" and travel teams .One of the main difference is the coaching. All MACS coaches are screened for their knowledge, community standing, personal history and subjected to an interview and board member approval. Many rec. or pigtail coaches are parent volunteers doing the best they can. MACS has already built a strong tie to the Chicago Bandits and Rockford Thunder Pro-Fastpitch teams. MACS players participated in a Bandit clinic in Feb. 2007 and attended several Bandit/Thunder games. The MACS coaching staff work together to share contacts such as qualified pitching and game coaches to offer in-house clinics in the off season.
MACS is dedicated to building a strong program for the female fastpitch softball player, unlike many local programs that struggle to offer an "equal" program to both the boys and girls of the community. MACS main goal is to prepare our local, dedicated young ladies that are pasionet about softball, for High School and College ball. There are not many local travel teams and many rec. leagues do not do an adequate job of teaching their players in a consistant manner.
Unlike travel teams, MACS is hubbed mainly out of the McHenry Township fields on RT. 31 in McHenry. There are 4 fields (2 lighted). 75 % of our games are held at these fields. There were several reasons for this:
       1) MACS board can better monitor games, umpires and progress.
       2) Teams all have home field advantage.
       3) Benefit to teams struggling to find fields due to overuse in some towns.
       4) Central location to Richmond, Cary, Johnsburg, Wauconda and Crystal Lake teams .
       5) Central location for umpires, High School coaches (who we encourage to help)
MACS uses only patched IHSA umpires to aid in the consistant teaching of skills. In MACS there is no chance of your child being on a team with a child who has not played before. All MACS players are chosen by their coaches based on their coachabilty and skill level (unlike rec. leagues).
MACS is a rapidly growing concept in the McHenry Area for the player and parents looking for a step up from rec. ball and yet not the travel of a travel team. The nice thing is that MACS teams still play most of the local travel teams throughout the season. This way the girls can see that they are still competitive with what was traditionally the higher level of play in this area. MACS teams all participate in about 2-3 local tournaments. MACS teams do one spring tourney (April/May), and one-two tourneys in July. MACS also offers Fall Ball that is once a week in the months of Sept. There currently is a 12U McHenry Area team called the Jaguars and their tryouts will be at the McHenry Township fields on this date and time.

The M.A.C.S. league was started after a need developed between the traditional "recreational leagues" and "travel teams". There has been a history of girls ages 10-15 who have a skill set higher then that of a rec. league however may find travel teams unfeasible. The M.A.C.S. league is designed to cater to the advanced learning and nurturing a skilled player needs.

Recently, we would like to thank Avon Township,Cary,Crystal Lake,Johnsburg and Richmond softball leagues for joining MACS for the 2007 season.

WE WANT TO WELCOME THE NEWEST MEMBER TO THE MACS LEAGUE- WAUCONDA !!!!!

A big thank you to the Johnsburg Village Board for their time and interest in our new, strong league.
