MAA Mustangs: Welcome
|
The Millard Athletic Association football program was founded in 1999 with over 200 boys participating the first year in a tackle football program. MAA was granted admission into the Nebraska Midget Football League (NMFL) where they compete against teams from other area communities including Lincoln, Papillion, LaVista, Ralston, and other organizations including Omaha Chiefs, Omaha Suburban, Omaha Storm, Westside and Nebraska Warriors. The NMFL is one of the oldest and most respected youth football organizations in the area.
The NMFL includes four age divisions: 8 & Under, 10 & Under, 11/12 and 13/14. Within the 10 and under and 11/12 divisions are additional divisions based on age and weight. The MAA teams play under the team name of either the Wildcats, Mustangs or Red Storm in the 12and under divisions. The 8 and under division was added in 2006 and includes coaches participation on the field. In 2002, the Patriots team was added in the 13/14 year old division.
The NMFL season starts following Labor Day and runs through the first of November. Teams competing in the American Division end the season with a bowl game in which the top teams in each age division compete for the NMFL championship. Since 1999, MAA teams have won the following NMFL championships: 2001 - Red Storm (11/12), Wildcats (10 and under), 2002 - Patriots (13/14); 2003 - Wildcats (11/12); 2004 - Patriots (13/14), Wildcats (11/12), and Red Storm (10 and under); 2005 - Patriots (13/14), Wildcats (10 and under) 2006 - Wildcats (10 and under).
The Cheerleading progam was established in 2003 and are divided into small teams who cheer at the football games for all the tackle teams. The Cheer squads kick off there season by participating in the Millard Days parade and end the season participating in local cheer competitions.
The MAA football program is founded on the principles of developing kid's interest in football, developing fundamental football skills and allowing kids to play with their friends.
