Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  1. How recent does the physical exam need to be?
ANSWER:  The physical exam is good for a one year period. Thus, the physical exam must have been performed after June 1, 2008 to cover the entire lacrosse season through end of May, 2009.

  2. Are there any "stick" requirements, especially for color?
ANSWER:  There is no special IHSLA "league" rule regarding color(s) of crosses. Additionally, we have no "team" rule for the color/colors of the head ...or color/colors of the shaft. The only color rule is that you can't color the pocket to make it look like a ball is in the pocket. In other words, color the mesh blue except for a white circle ..the size of a ball.
Here is the official "rules" on mesh color (we play by NFHS rules in Illinois High School): NCAA only: Multiple colors in mesh (this rule is intended primarily to cover a player trying to deceive the opponent by making it look like there is a ball in the stick when there is not; a traditional pocket may have multiple colors, and shooting strings may be of any color). There are no rules about mesh color in NFHS, although attempting to paint a ball in the mesh is still likely to be ruled Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
