Livermore Youth Soccer League - Elite: HC Parents
Information that parents should know.
Benefits and Time Commitment
Benefits: The High Comp Program offer our youth an opportunity to play at a higher level of skill with a longer playing season than that available in our House Program. Playing in the LYSL High Comp Program yields the following benefits:
Players receive the opportunity to compete at the highest possible level against other similar youth teams and can maximize their talents and skills
The level of training and coaching is more advanced which supplements, directs, and guides the development of these talented players effectively.
This development process provides higher chances for our youth players to be considered and scouted for even higher levels of competition such as the Olympic Development Program (ODP), High School, and College.
Time Commitment: The goal for High Comp is for our children to play soccer at a more competitive level but above all have fun! Players are expected to participate in two or more practice sessions per week one of which under the guidance of a professional trainer. In addition, there are scrimmages, tournaments, league games on weekends, and post season cup play.
Training typically begins in June and runs until cup play is over. League play begins in early September and ends in November. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Practices are usually 2-3 times per week at least one of which utilizes professional trainers.
Beginning in August and throughout the playing season, there are many tournaments available from which teams may choose participate. This primarily applies to age U11 and above. It is highly recommended that teams participate in at least four to five tournaments during the year. Depending on the tournament the coach selects, overnight travel may be required.
