Welcome to the 2009/2010 Lysander Lightning Girls 16U Travel Website
The Lysander Lightning is the Premier Competitive Girls 16U Travel Team in the Greater Syracuse New York area. The Lightning is playing in the Great Lakes Girls Hockey League at the 16U Tournament-Bound Division. In addition, the Lightning will be playing a strong independent schedule in '09/'10 against the top tier 16U and Midget teams in the U.S. and Canada (as well as high school and prep school teams). The Lightning will be competing for the New York State 16U Title and a berth at the National Championships to be held in Lansing Michigan April 7-11, 2010. CHAMPIONS: 2009 ST. LAWRENCE STARS 'FACE-OFF CLASSIC'
Shutting out the host team, St. Lawrence Stars, 1 -0 in the Championship Game, the Lysander Lightning won the inaugural Face-Off Classic in Ogdensburg New York over the weekend of November 14 & 15. Team Captain, Ali Rachubka, was selected as the Lysander Most Valuable Player of the Championships. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!!

"SUMMER'S END GIRLS HOCKEY FESTIVAL" PLANNED FOR AUGUST 21-23, 2009
In coordination with Outland Sports, the Lysander Lightning Girls 16U is planning the First Annual "Summer's End Girls Hockey Festival" for the weekend of August 21-23, 2009! There are to be three Divisions: - 14U/Bantam - 16U/Midget - High School Each Division is to be comprised of TWO Competitive Levels: AA and A There will be a 4-GAME Minimum with 15-minute stop-time periods. Come and compete against teams from New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Ontario, and Beyond! More Information Coming Very Soon! LIGHTNING WIN THEIR FIRST TWO GAMES OF THE SEASON, DEFEATING THE ROCHESTER/PERINTON EDGE
On Sunday, June 7, 2009 the Lightning traveled to Rochester and scrimmaged the Combined Rochester/Perinton Edge, winning both games by scores of 2-1 and 2-0. Goals were scored by Katie Luschwitz, Cindy McKie, Ali Rachubka, and Miranda Merola. The defense held the Edge to just one goal over the two games while goalie, Alex Brown, registered a 0.988 save percentage on the day. Congratulations girls on a Great Outing and the beginnings of a Wonderful Season!
