NCYFL UPDATE
Important league rule change, at the last NCYFL league meeting. For the 2008 season every team will be allowed an overweight waiver. So the rule will now be the same as the seniors that two players at every level will be exempt from the specified weight requirements. Those players granted the exemption will be required to play inside the tackles only and cannot play what is considered a skilled position, skilled positions include play on special team’s even kickers. All other age and player requirements still stand.

LYFAA the only Youth Football in town!
LYFAA and Lakewood School District announce a new youth sport partnership agreement. On March 5, 2008 the Lakewood School Board approved a new groundbreaking partnership agreement between the district and the Lakewood Youth Football Athletic Association (LYFAA). The district and the LYFAA have partnered to replace Middle School Football; this will provide a seamless transition between Lakewood Youth Football and Lakewood High School Football.
Our combined goal is to provide the community the best possible opportunity for quality youth football.
The success of the partnership and transition are based on the following points:
· Introduction of academic standards at every level.
· The district has LYFAA board representation with voting privileges; Head Coach Dan Teeter holds the current position.
· Integration of high school plays and terminology. Both programs will be speaking the same language starting with first graders.
· Shared training guides and tapes from the high school.
· Access to the weight room for eligible players
· District sponsored football clinics.
Added benefits:
· More games and scheduling compatible for family participation.
· Supplemental insurance for players and qualified volunteers.
· Guaranteed playtime. Each player at every level is insured a minimum of six plays per game.
· Good sportsmanship insured through acknowledgment of conduct standards for everyone involved in the program.
· Cheer support at every level.
· Direct community funding providing our children with a fun, complete and safe football experience.
Again the LYFAA is very excited to expand our support of youth football for our community. The successes of combined efforts in other townships have a proven track record, not just in building a successful football program but in building pride in our community.
Respectfully,
Larry Franchimon,
President LYFAA
