Hello ladies

Our fall ladies vball league will be starting up Thursday Sept 18th at 7:00.  Pls get your teams together and send me your team info:

  • Team name
  • Captain name, telephone, email, address, cell phone if you txt
  • roster with emails and telephone numbers.

If you have any new team members they will have to sign a waiver (see web page downloads). I will be accepting a max of 11 teams this season.  So get your info in early.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas 2013

 Well another volleyball season has come to an end, congrats to all.  The Slammers ended up in first place.  They squeaked out a win in 5 sets vs the Eliminators.  Way to go ladies.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone.  Our ladies volleyball will resume in Sept 2014.  The winter session is cancelled due to lack of gym space.  See you all in Septemeber ....

Langley Women's Volleyball Fall session starts Sept 19th.

Fall volleyball

We start Thursday Sept 19th at 7:00 at Langley Christian. The cost will be $225 per team ($250 per new teams to league). We will run until the first week of Dec. Let me know asap if your team will return this session(if you haven't already). I have info for subs or new players that would like to join, pls let me know if you need people. Depending on the number of teams:

  1. We prob have 11 teams - I will set the sched up similar to last year: if you are in the large gym, there will be 3 matches per court, so each match is only 2 sets. If you are in the small gym there will only be 2 matches per court and so best of 3 sets. If you know when your team would like to sit, pls let me know and I will try to make it work.
  2. If we are 10 teams (I am still waiting to hear back from a couple people). - then 2 teams will sit each week and 8 teams will play 2, best of 3 set matches.

Playoffs for Spring 2012

Hello everyone

The top 8 teams move on to the finals, starting this Thursday May 17th.  There will be 2 matches played on the 17th and only 1 match played on the 24th (for each of the top 8 teams).  Good luck everyone.  I hope to see everyone at Murrayville Pub (even those who didn't make the playoffs) for a season wrap up party next Thursday May 24th starting 8:15ish.  Have a great summer everyone and see you in the fall......... Spring volleyball
We start Thursday January 26th at 7:00 at Langley Christian. The cost will be $250 per team. This will take us to the end of May. We will be 11 or 12 teams. Most nights there will be 10 teams playing, which means 3 sets per court 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00. Occasionally I will have only 8 teams playing. So if you know when your team would like to sit, pls let me know and I will try to make it work.

Welcome to the new season - Fall 2011

Pls read the sched carefully each week and show up early for your matches.  There will be nights with different locations and many nights with 3 matches per court.  When there are 3 matches per court games must start on time, are best of 2 and have time restrictions.  If your team starts at 8:00 on those nights, pls show up by 7:30 in case first matches are done early.  Thanks Jan

Winter 2011 Season

The Winter 2011 season is just around the corner so captains get your teams together, collect you league fees/deposit  and send/give me the following info:

  1. Team name
  2. Captain
  3. Team contact phone and email
  4. Are you a returning team :  y/n
  5. Roster names with contact for players (this can come a bit later)
  6.  League team fees will be around $200 - $225 (depending onnumbers teams and nights)
  7. $100 'show up'  deposit - a cheque that I return at the end of the season

There will be a captian's meeting held Thursday Jan 6th, at my house, 8:00.  If you have a topic of discussion you would like to bring up, pls let me know in advance and I will add it to our agenda. 

League will start Thursday January 13th at 7:00.  This will either be our first night or a small qualifying tournament, if we have too many teams this season.  I will update the schedule soon, once I know how many teams we will have.  Pls let me know if you have a preference for nights your teams would like to sit.

Our vball has been cancelled for this week due to a tournament at Langley Christian.  We have been assured to have all 4 courts on Dec 2nd and Dec 9th, our playoffs.

Fall 2010 - Playoffs
I hope everyone has had and enjoyable and productive fall vball regular season.  Our Playoffs start next Thursday, there will be 2 matches per court best 2 out of 3, no cap.  Only the top 8 teams will enter the playoffs, but all teams are invited to the wrap up party afterwards, on the final night. 

This is the sched for the first round of matches:

1st vs 8th
2nd vs 7th
3th vs 6th
4th vs 5th

It looks like the final night will be on Dec 9th.  I am still waiting to hear back from LC to see if they can move their Senior basketball match.  If not we are the 9th for our final night.  If they are able to move the match then our final night will be the 2nd.  I will decide by Tuesday next week at the latest.  Either way, the final night is only 1 match, and then we will go our for a season wrap up party.  It will prob be at Murrayville pub or Milestones.  Pls let me know if you have a preference.  I haven't booked the pub yet, since I don't know which night we are yet. 

Our Winter season will start up mid January.  So plan your teams etc.  I will be holding a captains meeting early January, more info to follow.  I will send out more info over the Christmas break.

Playoffs 2010 winter season

The playoffs start this Thursday, May 13th.  The top eight teams will play 2 matches (best of 3, 25-25-15, no cap) each.  The first match is posted on the web, based on league standing.  I will have a poster of the full playoff sched with me tomorrow night - good luck everyone.

And don't forget - we go to Murrayville Pub on the 20th at about 8:30ish (after our last match) for a wind up party.  I hope all the teams can make it.

Winter 2010 season
  Hello everyone
I hope you all had a great Christmas and new years and are excited about our new vball season.  Our first night will be Thursday Jan 21st 7:00 - 10:00 at Langley Christian.  I will be inviting all the sub's out that night, and they will be looking to join a team.  There are quite a few great subs again so if you are looking to pick anyone up full time pls let me know and I can send you their info. 

Captains pls :

  1. Forward this info on to your team mates, other volleyball friends etc
  2. let me know asap if you will be putting in a team again this year
  3. send me a team roster asap (this helps identify any mis-communication, players on 2 dif teams)
  4. If you are looking for full time or part time players, pls let me know what positions you need etc.

I expect that we will be 10 or 11 teams this season.  So pls get your info in to me asap.  I will not accept more than 11 teams and will do a tryout if I do get more teams. 

Spares/new players :

  1. Pls confirm that you are interested in playing this season :  full or part time
  2. send me your info:  position (s), experience, age, contact info  etc.  This helps me to get you onto the best possible team for both skill and enjoyment. 

The cost will depend on the number of teams. But will prob be $200 per team.  (an extra $25 for new teams)

The playoffs are here.  We will be doing an 8 team playoff this season, but all teams are invited to the end of season wrap up party Dec 3rd at Milestones.

Fall 2009 session info
We are 9 teams this session therefore the cost will be $165 per team.  Our first night is Thursday Sept 17th at Langley Christian 7:00 - 10:00.  Volleyball Beaches has requested a sit the first night, so all other teams will be playing.   Pls show up a wee bit early for set up etc. 
 
I have invited a few subs out the first night, it is a great opportunity to pick up a full time player or to check out possible subs for the season. 
 
Captains pls have the following on the first night:
 
  • cheque $165 league fees
  • completed player list ( go to our web page, click handouts on the left hand side, download the 'playerlist') 
  • waivers for all players (also in handouts)
  • cheque for $100 - 'no show' deposit - to returned at the end of the season.


I will update the sched on the web soon.    


I will be putting in an order for volleyballs (similar to the blue ones we use).  The cost is approx $35 - 40 each ball.  I will have exact costs for you soon.  If you are interested in getting one, pls let me know.
 
Only one team will sit a night (unless another team registers), pls let me know if your team has a sitting preference.

The Winter League Playoffs will start Thursday May 7th, 2009 at Langley Christian.  As our league has grown quite a bit in size, playoffs will run for 3 weeks, all matches being best 2 out of 3 sets.  Our last night will see only 1 match per court followed by a wind up at a local pub/restaurant....TBA.

I hope you all had a great regular season.  Next week (Nov 27th) our playoffs will start.  Unfortunately only the top 8 teams will progress to the playoffs.  Matches A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H  will be played Nov 27th.  Matches I, J, K, L will be played Nov 4th at 7:15  and then we will all go out for the league wrap up at Murrayville Pub.  I hope all ten teams will make the league wrap up. 

The winter volleyball session will start up mid January.  Pls let me know if your team will be returning.  Have a Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year.

I am looking forward to another great season.  This is just a reminder to all players to help make the season a great one :

  •  Arrive early to help set up nets and do individual warm up, stretching, chatting etc.  There is only 10 minutes team warm up following the official start time of a game. 
  • Each team is responsible for helping set up the nets and help tear down and put away the nets.  This also must be done in a neat fashion or we may lose our gym privilege with Langley Christian.
  • We do not have refs - to keep costs down.  Therefore everyone is responsible for calling their own errors:  in/out, carry, double, net violations etc etc etc.  It is Ladies ball so pls worry about your own team, if there is a problem with another team not calling their errors, pls let me know and I will approach the team captain.  If there is a dispute about whether a ball is in/out.  We re-serve it.
  • A team must have a min of 5 players in order to not forfeit a match.  If a player is late and a team has only 4 players:  they have 10 mins from the official start time of the game.  If the player still hasn't arrived, they lose the first set.  If after another 10 mins they still have not arrived, they lose both sets - and the match.
  • Each team is allowed to forfeit (without financial penalty) one night.  One the second night they are charged $50, a third night and the full $100 commitment deposit is charged.  If a team knows they cannot get 5 or more players together - more than 1 week in advance, let me know and I will try to change the sched so that your team is sitting that night.

The Fall 2008 session is about to start up

The Fall 2008 session is about to start up.  Our first night of play is Thursday Sept 18th &:00 - 10:00 at Langley Christian Middle/High school.

We are 10 teams this session.  As per last year, rather than have teams sit a part night (we only have 4 courts and so 8 teams can play at the same time) when it is your teams turn to sit, you will sit the entire night.  So each team will sit 2 out of 10 nights, or 1 out of 5.  If there is a strong desire to go back to our old way of sitting 1/2 the night, we can change it back

We are 10 teams, our sched will run from Sept 12th - Dec 4th inclusive.  Therefore the Team Fee will be (per team for the season):

  •  $150 - returning team
  • $175 - new team

I will require the following from each team captain  (pls bring with you the first night):

  1.  Team Fee  (pls have entire amount - it is up to the captain to chase after their players fees)
  2. A cheque for $100 - commitment fee.  This will not be cashed unless Your team fails to show up with 5 or more players.  I will return the un-cashed cheque at the end of the season.  Note :  returning teams - I will need a cheque from you as well as the ones from last year are now out dated.
  3. A completed 'playerlist' or roster with contact info for your team.  This can be found under the "Handouts'  section on the right hand side of the web site.
  4. Completed Waiver forms for all new players to the league.  These can also be found under the "Handouts'  section on the right hand side of the web site.

Last Night

Thursday May 22nd is our last night for ladies vball this season.  After our games (at about 8:00 or 8:30) we will all go to the Twin Rinks Ice House Pub for snacks and drinks.

Winter season is coming to an end (although you can't always tell by the weather).  May 8th will be the last night of regular season play.  Playoffs will be May 15th and 22nd.  There will be a wrap up party on May 22nd after our final games.

Winter session 2008

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years.  The break is over and it is now time to start up again.  Our winter session will be starting Thursday January 24th.  This session we have 9 teams and will be using both gyms at Langley Christian. 

Team costs will be $200/team plus the $100 comittment cheque (to be returned at end of season if team always shows up).   So captains pls collect your fees, compile team contact sheets (playerlist) - click 'Handouts' on left and have all new players sign waivers.  I will collect all of these things on the 24th, before our first games.

Fall ladies vball registration

Our Fall ladies vball registration is under way for this season.  Games will be Thursday nights at Langley Christian (7:00 - 10:00).  Get your teams together.  Captains please complete team rosters/contact list, collect player waivers and collect your team fees. 

The  fee is $200 this season per team.  There is also a $100 deposit from each team required (to be returned at the end of the season if your team doesn't no-show).

We will be 5 teams again this session.

The Winter Ladies Volleyball Play-offs are just around the corner
We have hae a good season and are looking forward to play-offs. The Semi-finals will be Thursday May 3rd/07. The finals will be Thursday May 10th, followed by a drink/snack at a local pub/restaurant (place TBA).

For those interested in beach this year, lets determine where and set some dates. It will be drop in, and hopefully free.

FALL FINALS and Winter session registry
Our Fall Ladies Volleyball session is coming to an end. The finals will be Thursday Nov 30th and Dec 7th at Langley Christian (7:00 - 10:00). There will be a wrap up party following the final games on the 7th. Good luck to everyone, and have a great Christmas holiday.

Registration for the Winter session will start soon. The winter session will start Mid January. Games will again be Thursday nights 7:00 - 10:00. So get your team together (or partial team) and let me know asap. Thanks Jan

Winter 2006 Starts Thursday
The Winter 2006 league will start Thursday January 12th at Langley Christian High School (22702 48th Ave ). Games start at 7:00 pm see schedule for details. Could all teams show up at least 20 mins early. I will need to have completed rosters (team lists), waivers and fees from all teams. The fees for this season are:

$100 commitment fee (in cheque form) - all teams
$150 per returning team for season
$180 per new team for season

Welcome back to Langley Women's Volleyball - Winter 2009

Welcome back everyone.  I hope you all had a great Christmas and are ready for some volleyball.  This session we are 12 teams.   In order to max playing time but also allow for some 'slower, less rushed nights' I will be combining 2 dif strategies.  It will be very important for teams to always check the schedule to ensure they know when they play and how many matches are sched for that night:

  • Some nights we will only have 2 matches per court.  On these nights 4 teams will sit.  These nights will allow for longer warm ups.  They will not have to worry about time limits on matches.  Teams will play best of 3 sets, 3rd set to 15.  Earlier part of the season mostly to avoid school basketball conflicts.
  • Other nights there will be 3 matches per court.  On these nights all 12 teams will play.  It will be very important for teams to show up early, to warm up in advance.  There will be a very short warm up period at the start of each match and matches will have a 55min cut -off.  Matches will only be 2 sets.  So a tie may occur.

Winter 2009 starts up

The Winter 2009 session is about to start up.  Our first night of play is Thursday Jan 22nd 7:00 - 10:00 at Langley Christian Middle/High school.

We are 12 teams this session.  In order to provide for 12 teams and still keep as much playing time as possible I will be doing a combination of 2 things: 

  1. Some nights all 12 teams will play.  So there will be 3 matches per court.  These nights it is very important that all teams arrive early and do very fast set ups and warm ups.  There will be a 55min time limit per match.  Matches will only be 2 sets. 
  2. Other nights only 8 teams will play - 4 teams will sit the entire night.  On these nights ther will be a more leisurely pace.  Teams will have more time to warm up.  Matches will be best of 3 sets.  So it will be very important for each team to look at the entire sched each week.

We are 12 teams, our sched will run from Jan 22nd - May 21st inclusive.  Therefore the Team Fee will be (per team for the season):

  •  $200 - returning team
  • $225 - new team

 

I will require the following from each team captain  (pls bring with you the first night):

  1.  Team Fee  (pls have entire amount - it is up to the captain to chase after their players fees)
  2. A cheque for $100 - commitment fee.  This will not be cashed unless Your team fails to show up with 5 or more players.  I will return the un-cashed cheque at the end of the season.  Note :  returning teams - I will need a cheque from you as well as the ones from last year are now out dated.
  3. A completed 'playerlist' or roster with contact info for your team.  This can be found under the "Handouts'  section on the right hand side of the web site.
  4. Completed Waiver forms for all new players to the league.  These can also be found under the "Handouts'  section on the right hand side of the web site.

 

I am looking forward to another great season.  This is just a reminder to all players to help make the season a great one :

  •  Arrive early to help set up nets and do individual warm up, stretching, chatting etc.  There is only 10 minutes team warm up following the official start time of a game.  Pls check our sched each week.  On nights when there are 3 matches per court warm up and set up must happen very quickly.
  • Each team is responsible for helping set up the nets and help tear down and put away the nets.  This also must be done in a neat fashion or we may lose our gym privilege with Langley Christian.
  • We do not have refs - to keep costs down.  Therefore everyone is responsible for calling their own errors:  in/out, carry, double, net violations etc etc etc.  It is Ladies ball so pls worry about your own team, if there is a problem with another team not calling their errors, pls let me know and I will approach the team captain.  If there is a dispute about whether a ball is in/out.  We re-serve it.
  • A team must have a min of 5 players in order to not forfeit a match.  If a player is late and a team has only 4 players:  they have 10 mins from the official start time of the game.  If the player still hasn't arrived, they lose the first set.  If after another 10 mins they still have not arrived, they lose both sets - and the match.
  • Each team is allowed to forfeit (without financial penalty) one night.  One the second night they are charged $50, a third night and the full $100 commitment deposit is charged.  If a team knows they cannot get 5 or more players together - more than 1 week in advance, let me know and I will try to change the sched so that your team is sitting that night.
