LWAA's Spring Baseball DivisionsTee Ball: Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls league age 4-5 years old who want to learn the beginning fundamentals of baseball. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of tee ball are focused on allowing for the coaches to teach the game. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.
Rookie Division: The Rookie Division is designed for players league age 6 - 7 years old. It is a machine pitch division. The primary goal of the rookie division is to continue teaching baseball fundamentals while preparing the players to face live pitching in t he minors and major divisions.
Minors: Minor League Baseball is designed for younger boys and girls with less playing experience. This division allows for younger and less experienced players to develop their skills and is their first introduction to kid pitch. The Minor League division is comprised of kids aged league age 8 thru 11. However 7 year olds are welcome to try out for the minors. If a 7 year old does not get selected for the minors he or she will be placed on a Rookie Division team.
Majors: The Major League division is comprised of kids league age 10 thru 13. This division is for older, more experienced and advanced players. Tweleve and Thirteen year olds are required to play in the majors division. This year LWAA will be playing in Little League's new 50/70 division. This will involve playing on a larger infield with leads and pick offs.
Any player league age 10 through 11 who tries out for the majors but does not get selected for a majors team, is placed on a minors team.

EVERY VOLUNTEER WITH LWAA MUST PASS A BACKROUND CHECK
Our Full Association website;
A reminder regarding volunteer duty - The league runs smoothly through your volunteer efforts as managers, coaches and umpires. Less visible perhaps, but equally critical to our success as a league are those who help out in other capacities including: opening day, buildings & grounds, field cleanup, etc. This league depends entirely on volunteer help - without it we simply don't run. Please take your volunteer responsibility seriously.
Please be mindful of the intent of our league - to foster a learning environment about softball and baseball. It truly is all about the children. This means understanding your role as a coach and as a parent. Root FOR your team, not against the other; let the umpires do their jobs, it is difficult enough without the pressure of an adult. The entire board of directors wish the children, the coaches and the parents a wonderful season.
See you on the fields and in the stands!
Too Much Baseball is Not a Good Thing
Click here for some words of wisdom offered in a column by Little League International President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen D. Keener, reprinted from the 2005 Little League Baseball World Series Program.
Who We Are and What We Stand For
"The purpose and objective of the League shall be to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they will be well adjusted, stronger and happier children who will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy adults; and to thereby promote the health, social, educational and character development of our youth. All persons involved in this league, however, shall bear in mind that ATTAINMENT OF EXCEPTIONAL ATHLETIC SKILL AND THE WINNING OF GAMES IS SECONDARY(emphasis added), and the molding of future men and women is of prime importance."
We define ourselves, therefore, as a RECREATIONAL league wherein the level of competition is determined by the children, and not the adults.
Points to Ponder
"A man never stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child."
----- Sparky Anderson -----
"Baseball is a children's game that adults mostly screw up."
----- Bob Lemon -----
"Sports do not build character....They reveal it."
