Hornet News
It's hard to believe that another year in Hornetville has come to a close...seemed like only yesterday we were boarding the bus for Ottawa! As always the ladies provided us with a very successful and entertaining year and most importantly they have continued to grow on and off the field as individuals and also as team mates! We are a fortunate staff to have them as students and mentees and by this time next year we hope to be counting the days until Denmark!

In the meantime...mark you calendars...

Training will resume on Tuesday July 19 and continue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6PM until dark through October. At that point we will move indoors for the remainder of the fall season.

Team Camp is Monday August 15 through Thursday August 18 from 5PM until 8PM at the sewer authority fields (with the annual swim party to follow!)

Respective tournament schedules will soon be forwarded for summer and fall so please stay tuned for those as well.

August/September Vacation schedules - please forward as soon as possible so we can plan our summer tournament attendance needs

ADHOC Training/Playing is available for any Hornet player that just can't sit still during break time...give me and Shag a call if you want to knock it around some evening!

Team Fund Raising...first off....thanks sooo very much to those folks whom have coordinated and supported fundraising (and paperwork, and parties etc.) over the last year. We are always afraid to list the names in case we forget one but you guys know who you are and you are a major contributor to the program's success! We welcome new volunteers to that team of folks as well. As always, the summertime is a great opportunity for the ladies to get together and wash cars and travel around to businesses to raise money for their teams...SO...we would welcome efforts from as many parents as possible in that regard. We rely heavily in those dollars to keep the program active, at the highest level yet still affordable to all! We are already paying fall bills and preparing for indoor leagues, training venues and tournaments so every penny counts. :-) In fact, if we do well we may even chip in to upgrade Rob's rental car from that embarrassing white Chevy!

Team Managers - Yes...it's time to rotate some responsibilities....over the years we have been very fortunate to have considerable assistance regarding paperwork, bill paying, and other administrative acitvities and in fairness many folks deserve a break so we are soliciting for some new administrative assitants! We desparately need a team manager for both the Black and Gold Hornets...Activities would include annual player registrations, team online registrations, tournament applications, bill paying, budget tracking, social activity(s) planning, coordinating rentals for training in winter, upgrading Rob's rental vehicle etc. For the last year or so Mike and I have pretty much assumed a majority of these activities in addition to our other tasks and we would truly appreciate some assistance. (Just kidding about Rob's car....don't want to anger him as he is the Black Hornet official registration guru....thx for that Rob)

Europe 2006 communications will be starting back up shortly! We have crafted a 10 day/3 country scenario that will be right in the budget range we diuscussed this past spring. Now that we are ready to move on to 2006 we will begin a series of communications to get the ball rolling on planning and, of course, fund raising opportunities. In the interim it would be beneficial to dig up as many creative money making ideas and money management schemes as possible. It will truly be a team effort from all of us going forward. IN fact we are probably going to work very hard to cut back a little on our annual team activities and expenses to aid each families ability to consider Europe a reality for their Hornet. Stay tuned for more on all of those items!

Cheers for now,

The Hornet Staff

Tuesday, January 18
This week in Hornetville...
Great weekend for the ladies! Saturday was pretty special considering it was the first time together in competition and the girls played very well winning their Dock game against South and then moving on to Wyoming Valley and winning 5 of 6 games in tournament mode. I think we just ran out of gas at the end but the games were all enjoyable to watch and the team improved each time out. We were only given 12 medals (their policy) so am I holding them until they send me 2 more so each player receives one. We have to pay for each award over 12 and they didn’t have anymore on hand Saturday.

This week:

Wednesday – Open Gym/Fun night

Friday – Match against Branchburg 6PM until 8PM. The facility is not that far as it is just a bit up the road after crossing the 202 (New Hope) bridge (heading towards Flemington). Directions below. The ride should be about 35 – 40 minutes from Chalfont. I have room for 5 Hornets if anyone is interested. I plan to leave my home at 5:15. I will bring them to their homes afterwards if need be. This is our last tune up for cups so let’s make the best of it!

Saturday – Dock league game at 11:40AM (beats that 8 o’clock stuff!)

Sunday – We really, really, really don’t want to interfere with Eagles activities so as long as we feel we have good participation at the week’s activities we will cancel that session. Unless you’re Shaggy and don’t care because you like the Redskins…boooooooooooooooooooooooo

Directions for Friday night:

CJ Indoors Sports (Branchburg Match)

426 Case Rd, Flemington, NJ. 08822.

Take 202 north (Towards New Hope), follow north across the Delaware river, through the first round about, then left onto Case Blvd.

Saturday, January 1
Hornet Winter '05 activities schedule is upon us...
Hornet Faithful,

Hope the holiday season is going well for all! We have worked very hard to assemble a pretty diverse schedule for the upcoming months to include training, league, match and tournament competitions as well as some fun activities! We also tried to work around some of the known High School activities as well so a s not to interfere. Please save this message and note the dates on your calendars so we can ensure good team participation!

Training:

Our training will resume on Sunday evening 1/9 from 6:30 until 8pm. And continue EVERY Sunday through March 5 EXCEPT Super Bowl Sunday 2/6. We will train at Chesterbrook Academy (formerly Rainbow World) at 239 north main street in Chalfont. Since we have folks coming from many locations I am including a link for driving directions. If you need specifics please feel free to contact me. It’s only a couple of minutes from the sewer practice facility.

The gym is small but very affordable! We will concentrate on technical skills each session.

Rules for players: All players must have a ball, their challenge sheets, their warm up sheets and, of course, their practice kits on.

Open Gym!

We are very fortunate to also have the same gym reserved starting Wednesday 1/ 5 continuing every Wednesday up to March 9 from 6:30 until 8PM for any girls interested in ‘free play’ nights. We will supervise but the entire night is just for the girls to pick teams, play short sided games and have fun on their own for 90 minutes each week! This is intended to be a relaxing, fun night out for the girls to run around, play and have fun together when it fits their schedule.

Tuesday, October 12
Hornets Win Haslet Columbus day tournament
1st place medal
Hornet Fan Club….

First off…Great tournament weekend...another super achievement by the girls…AGAIN. The coaches are very proud of the heart and effort as well as the tactical efforts they continue to improve upon.

A reminder of this week’s schedule:

Tuesday: Training 5:30 until dark

Saturday: Training 10am until Noon

Sunday: Match against F.C. Bucks 15F (AWAY) Time and location still TBD so please plan for a game Sunday afternoon. I will forward specifics the moment I receive them!

Finances:

Thanks to diligent fundraising 2004 has been an awesome experience for the ladies! The additional trainers are great and our tournament schedule was really fulfilling. We also have (nicer) new shorts and socks (coming any day) as well as the water bottles handed out Sunday as an added extra for the team. That and a continuously restocked medical kit of late. This is a great accomplishment as we have required fewer personal dollars spent in the last 12 months than ever before thanks to all of the parents chipping in!!

Moving forward into 2005 we still have some reserve dollars but need to add to it to continue paying bills moving forward. We will be collecting $150 from each family due no later than November 7th. I could REALLY use a volunteer to collect and track the money for me. I will handle getting it into our account once we have the total sum in hand.

November:

Starting Wednesday November 8th we will be practicing indoor at Christopher Dock form 6:30 until 8PM each Wednesday through November 17th. We will also continue our Saturday mornings from 10 till noon.

Indoor:

We will be playing in the Saturday morning Christopher Dock High School league in January and February. Games are Saturday mornings and they occur, generally, every other week. We will slip in a few tournaments as always for fun too! League play will probably start on Saturday January 8.

Indoor Cups are Saturday January 29th at the Lanco Field House…PLEASE BE SURE TO NOTE THIS! We need a full team to compete and have struggled in the past for numbers at cups.

Bad News: (saved it till last)

We LOST our rental contract for Christopher Dock for the winter months. Although we booked in early August we were bumped last week by a CYO basketball league that demanded our Wednesday slots as part of their needs. Unfortunately they represent more rental time and dollars than we do so we lost that battle. The worst of it is that by this time of year it is nearly impossible to find training facilities indoor. We have contacted all of the venues we are aware of and are in dire need for an answer. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas PLEASE share them with us. We need to find a solution!

Thx a million!

Hornet Staff ( and Ward…even though he is retired)

Summer Stuff.....
Hornet family...
Just in case the summer sun and fun has affected our memories (it has mine
for sure) a reminder that we resumed practice tonight and will continue
throughout the summer from 6pm until 8pm every Tuesday and Thursday in
preparation for our August tournaments and, of course, the upcoming fall
season.

Attached are respective schedules in Excel for your quick glance
convenience. If for some reason your email does not allow attachments please
let us know so we can provide you with hard copies. They contain a lot of
detail and all dates are very, very important!

Please note within the schedule that we will be having our annual team camp
on August 16th through the 19th from 5pm until 8pm. This annual camp serves
the players so well as it provides in depth touches and preparation heading
into our tournament schedules. We will have Brian, Kellie and even an
additional trainer or 2 so the girls will get some nice special attention
and a solid week of hard work, education and fun.

Additionally please remember to ALWAYS notify your respective coaches of any
activities you cannot attend. Since we only have 13 scheduled training
sessions prior to the season start each one has measurable value for the
players and teams so attendance is paramount as is working on fitness and
touches on our own.

Hope summer is going great for all! It was great to get back out with the
ladies tonight!

"Never look back and feel you haven't succeeded, but do to see what you have
learned. Always look forward, with what you have learned and see success in
your future now"

A message form the Hornet Training Staff:
First off....positive thought for today....

" I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed; and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying."

Just a reminder that weeknight practices start next Tuesday April 6 and continue every Tuesday & Thursday throughout the Spring. Start time is 5:45 PM. In the beginning we will practice until dark. Practices are at Sewer Authority.

To best achieve our individual and team goals Hornet Practice Objectives are back in place: Upon arrival all players shall have a ball (inflated please, work through their Hornet Warm up appropriately, stretch, 3 anaerobic runs, stretch and 6x50 sprints. This is solely the players responsibility!) The trainers will then take over the sessions. All sessions will end with 15 minutes of a perimeter run followed by a warm down. Just a reminder to refresh everyone's memory!

Also a reminder that each player needs to communicate any and all absences from practice to Barry, Brian, Kellie and myself. Training is paramount to our successes as teams so please coordinate your schedules as needed to keep our attendance at a successful level.

and a final positive thought...

Show me a player who's afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a player you can beat every time!!

GO HORNETS!!!!!!

I have some exciting news about this Saturday! As a just reward for our extra long drive, we will be playing a second game in North Jersey this Saturday. Right after our game vs. Bergen we will drive 20 minutes (closer to home) for a game vs. Ramapo.   Ramapo plays in a different JAGS division than us (JAGS has 3 divisions - all of equal caliber).

We are also putting together a carpool for anyone interested that will meet at Sewer Authority and leave at 11:00 AM. Barry will have his van, I will drive and we might need one other volunteer if we get a lot of takers for the carpool. We will call parents on the final ride home to coordinate pickup times, etc.

So...game # 1 vs Bergen at 2:00 (arive 1:15 PM, and...game # 2 vs. Ramapo will start at 4:30 PM. You have directions to Bergen (River Dell High School) already. Directions from Bergen to Ramapo (Franklin Avenue Middle School) follow:

About 4-5 miles up on your right you will see a sign for route 4 West / 208 North (right by the IKEA) you are going to bear right onto route 4 West. Stay in your right lane; 1 mile up ahead the road splits   - Route 4 to your left and Route 208 North to your right. Stay to your right and take 208 North about 10-15 miles to the exit for Summit Avenue; make a right onto Summit Ave.. go until it ends in a "T", (at light) then make a left onto Franklin Avenue. Go to Pulis Avenue and make a Right next to VFW parking lot. School driveway will be on Pulis avenue on your left.   Our Ramapo contact is Chris. Friday, April 2
Hornet Ambassadors....THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Hi Folks,
Was contacted by Mike Freed today regarding our Canada adventure. He apologized for the late notice but needs a commitment from us to move forward. As a friend he is willing to accept a small deposit of $35 per person at this time for the tournament fee and to reserve the bus. We can cover that up front but need to get a pretty firm commitment from the families attending. For those interested there are many options for traveling along as well.

Please keep in mind that this trip is designed specifically around the girls as a team function providing them the opportunity to spend lots of fun time together, see new sites and play the game they so enjoy. Because that is the plan each player is required to pay for the mini-tour (which of course entitles them to all of the amenities and activities). Parents may choose to drive separately, book there own rooms and organize their weekend any way they want. I plan to drive separately myself and leave with Colleen and Trisha from the tournament to vacation.

That said I would like to mention that when asked the girls from each team have mentioned to the coaches that they really really want to go so here is a suggestion...some of the players have mentioned that they have not even had any discussion with their parents regarding this opportunity to date so...please CAREFULLY REVIEW the inserted package with your Hornet and discuss it as a family. I am confident that we, as a parent team, can work out any details to make this a success whether it be money raising, chaperones or whatever...I think it would set a great example to our girls if we were to rally as a parent team to make this a reality for them. If the majority of both teams go and we book 4 players to a room we can really reduce the costs too! If we don't get a minimum commitment of 13 - 14 players per team we will unfortunately have to cancel and that would be unfortunate.

If you have any questions at all please give me a shout. This is the only time we will plan this trip as we want to start planning longer term for a Europe or similar opportunity in 2-3 years.

Thx!
Barry

Teams must be registered club teams, but can have up to three guest players from another club and three guest players from their own club.   Age divisions are based on a January 1st cutoff (not August 1st), resulting in the following age divisions:

UNDER-12: Born 1/1/92 or later             UNDER-13: Born 1/1/91 or later
UNDER-14: Born 1/1/90 or later             UNDER-15: Born 1/1/89 or later
UNDER-16: Born 1/1/88 or later             UNDER-17: Born 1/1/87 or later
UNDER-18: Born 1/1/86 or later             UNDER-19: Born 1/1/85 or later

Teams are divided into groups of 4 or 5 teams, with round robin play within the group determining teams who advance to the playoffs. Group play starts on Saturday and finishes by early Sunday afternoon, with semifinals taking place later Sunday afternoon.   Finals are held on Monday morning and early afternoon. The tournament entry fee is included in the cost of your package, as is the cost for filing permission to travel forms with EPYSA/USYSA (Keystone United will assist in this process).

Team meeting....IMPORTANT!
Hornets et. al.
This Thursday night we have planned a very special and most important
meeting for the girl's to spend time with the coaches and then more so with
Kellie to discuss a few things and then formulate their goals for the
upcoming season (and beyond). This is a most important event and every
effort needs to be made to attend because it is an activity where every
player needs to participate so the team has a fully cooperative plan going
forward.

Parents are encouraged to attend as well since we will spend the first half
of the meeting setting the goals and expectations of the coaches and also be
providing the girls with some very valuable information on how we plan to
strengthen the team by working closely with each player. The second half of
the meeting will be just the girls working together on their goals which
will give the parents an opportunity to move to another room and talk for a
bit.

We will meet in the basement classroom at the New Britain Baptist Church
(rt. 202 and Tamenend Ave in New Britain) from 7PM until 9PM. Entrance is
through the lower door in the bottom parking lot. If you need directions
please contact one of the coaches.

It is strongly encouraged to make every effort to attend! This will be the
most important gathering for the girls this spring and missing out will be
unfortunate for both player and team.

Thx!
Hornet Staff.

Tournament This Weekend - Sun Feb 22
HI Gang,

As far as the Hornet Staff knows, we have 14 field players plus our Keeper for the William Tennent tournament this Sunday. This is a lot of players for three 17 minute games with only 5 field players. SO......we would like to split the team up and have one team play Saturaday Feb 21 at Perkiomen Valley High School while the remainder play in the Tennent tournament on Sunday. This, of course, assumes all 14 players can make it and everyone's schedules are flexible enough. PLease let me know ASAP (like today) if you have a problem with either day.

If this works, we will let everyone know tomorrow or Friday which venue to go to, schedules, directions, etc. We will discuss this with the girls tonight at Dock too.

PLEASE RESPOND RIGHT AWAY WITH CONFLICTS. OTHERWISE, WE WILL ASSUME EITHER DAY IS FINE.

Thanks.

Important Hornet Program Update...
Hi folks!!

Just a review of last night's practice and the assignments and goals the staff is working to really pull the team up a notch in 2004 and make our soccer experiences more rewarding as players and teams...practice was fun in that we revisited some good stuff like player demonstrations and pairing up with teammates to learn more about each other. Especially our newest Hornets. The insights and ideas from the players was really inspiring so we are excited to get started right away.

The coaches are going to take advantage of having an expanded staff to help get each and every player to be their 'soccer best'! We have decided to establish some near term goals with some end dates to get us into spring in great fashion.

1. Rules are rules so be sure to follow them...rule infractions will result in consequences (coach Brian is in charge of determining)...for the entire team! So remember...
- Proper uniform and warm ups at ALL Hornet events
- Bring a ball to every indoor session
- READ and REPLY to emails when required ASAP (still 5 surveys out and that is very disappointing to us)
- Arrive at practice dressed to play
- Pink, Green and Warm up sheets are with you at ALL practices....you never know when we will plan to use them.

2. Green sheets due by end of practice March 17....we will work as much as any Hornet wants at practice to be sure we succeed! That's the beauty of multiple trainers with lots of energy!

3. Practice begins upon arrival with the Hornet Warmup followed by individual work on green sheet items...you can get alot of items checked off quickly this way! You DO NOT need to have them checked off at home any more...just at practice or otherwise.

4. Achievement sheets will be distributed to the team to help us keep track of our goals and accomplishments as well as those of our team mates. (Kellie will be taking this task on and will work with each player as much as they want!)

5. All trainers will fill out practice evaluations and review them together each week.

The goal is to get back to helping each player get the most (that they want) out of being a part of the program. Great stuff!!

MOST IMPORTANTLY...
There will be NO exceptions to any of the above...

If you want to speak to any of the trainers at any time feel free to send them a message...we plan to interact as much as possible. Many Hornets have been doing this already as a result of our surveys and that has been super!

Friday, February 6
Another important update.....MOVIE NIGHTS!
Hi team....

By popular demand we are planning movie nights for NEXT WEEK.

Monday night GOLD Hornets
Thursday night BLACK Hornets

Coach Kellie will be stopping by to get to know the girls better, ask and answer questions, eat popcorn and have some fun. The movie most suggested was Finding Nemo so that looks like the entertainment for the evening(s).

Where: Coulton Crib (call for directions if necessary)
Time: 6:30 until 9PM...Parents are free to stay and hang out together too!! (upstairs where it's quiet!)

Some good winter fun indeed!! See you there!!

Also...we were thinking it might be fun to take advantage of coach Barry's recording studio and have the girls make up and record a song sometime...YIKES! If you're interested we can plan a night for that too! Let us know...

See you there!

Tuesday, February 3
3 vs 3 soccer tournement - CANCELLED
Bummer - the 3 vs 3 was pushed back a week and now conflicts with our tournament at the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome on Sunday March 14. We can't do both...so we will still be doing the Wyoming Valley Tournament.

Tuesday, February 3
Parkland Tournament - Sunday Feb 8
Winter Hornets,

Here is the schedule for the Parkland Tournament this Sunday. Please arrive by 8:00 AM.

8:36 AM vs Parkland Dominators
9:30 AM vs Parkland U13
10:06 AM vs Parkland U14
11:18 AM vs Lower Macungie
11:54 AM vs Deep Run

Directions to Parkland High School, 2700 North Cedar Crest Blvd, Allentown, PA 18104:

Your goal is to get to Rte 22 in Allentown. You can do this by either choosing the PA Tpke Northeast Extension to Allentown Exit or by going Rte 309 North, then continuing along after it merges with Interstate Rte 78. Either will get you to Rte 22 where you will go EAST. Proceed on Rte 22 EAST for a mile or two to the North Cedar Crest Blvd exit. Go approximately 2 miles on N Cedar Crest Blvd. Parkland HS will be on your left. It is huge - you cannot miss it....AND, it won't really feel like you are in Allentown. Rather it will feel like you have left Hornetville for Countryville.

FYI.....the Sportsplex league schedule is just about over. There might be one additional game scheduled for later in February, but that is uncertain at this time. No games are scheduled for Sun Feb 8. We will NOT be playing our last game scheduled for Sun Feb 15 so that we can participate in the Turff Club Tournament in Allentown instead.

GO HORNETS!!!!!

Tuesday, January 27
Tentative Black Hornet Spring Schedule
Greetings from the Hornet Sports Center,

As promised, here is a rough idea of our Spring Schedule. We are looking at a full slate of soccer activities, hopefully some social activities and of course some fund raising activities. We are continuing along our path of trying to provide the best training we can and play against very challenging competition. In talking to the girls and reading their surveys, the consensus is that the vast majority of the girls are extremely committed to the Hornets and to soccer. As such, the Black Hornet schedule will remain very active with an eye on those girls with the most commitment and having an interest in playing lots of soccer. Its all good!!

PRACTICES:
Saturday mornings starting in mid to late March (weather permitting) and continuing through mid-June - we will practice on every Saturday morning that we are not playing a game or participating in a tournament; time TBD. Weeknight practices will begin after daylight savings and be 2 nights per week; nights TBD.

STATE CUPS:
We have entered the Snickers Cup again - a single elimination tournament against the best teams in eastern PA. The first (and hopefully not the only) game will probably take place in late March.

SPRING LEAGUE:
We have entered the JAGS Spring League which is comprised mostly of high quality teams from New Jersey. There should be around 6 games, starting in late March/early April and going through May.

TOURNAMENTS:
April 10 - Southampton One Day Before Easter Tournament
May 1 & 2 - Red Rose Classic in Lancaster @ F&M College. A possible overnight trip?
May 8-10 - YMS Epic in Yardley.
May 28-30 - Virginian Memorial Day Tournament (yes we are going to try it again and we are asking for a parent volunteer to make reservations at a hotel that doesn't charge you if the event is cancelled)
June 11-13 - PAGS Classic in Downingtown

We might throw in a couple of friendly scrimmage games too.

We will take our summer break after the PAGS Classic and get back together in mid-July so that we have a couple of weeks to prep for the Ottawa trip.

All in all, this is an active schedule and a fun schedule. Once we know more dates and times we will send out the oh so cool calendars!

We are looking forward to more good times in Hornetville! GO HORNETS!!!!!!!!

December in Hornetville
Holiday Tidings,

Well this is the week us Hornet parents have been waiting for. Will Friday ever come?

Couple of Hornet matters:

1 - Indoor Game @ Sportsplex this Sunday at 4:45 PM vs Hulmeville. Please arrive 30 minutes prior. Bring both jerseys and gold t-shirt to all indoor games. Wear the white jerseys. Indoor shoes required. There will be schedules for the rest of the indoor league season available at the door. I don't know if we are on rink 1, 2 or 3. As with all Hornet events, please let us know if you cannot attend. If you are hurt, please provide Coach Barry or myself with an updated injury status report this week. Thanks!

2 - Congratulations to Ashley Klun and Becky Clark for qualifying for ODP Winter Indoor Training.

We are pleased to announce that Kelly Woolcock has joined the Hornet staff. Kelly is a recent graduate of St Josephs University where she played 4 years of Division I soccer. Look for Kelly to get involved this Winter. - Ward

Monday, December 1
Winter Indoor update
Winter practices for January will occur on Saturday mornings from 10:30 to noon at Quakertown Christian School (same place we practiced last Winter on Friday nights). We are open to the idea of carpooling from Clemens - lets toss the idea around as a group at the Irons next Friday night. The actual practice dates will be Jan 3, 10, 17 and 24. No practice on January 31 as we will be in Lancaster (again) for Indoor Cups. After this we revert to the Wednesday night practice schedule at Christopher Dock. At this time we are not contemplating a carpool for the Dock practices.
Thanks to everyone for the hard work selling pointsettas and footlball ticket. Alas, this hard work needs to be supplemented by cold, hard cash from each of us. We are looking for the next assessment of $125 from each family at this time. Due to the holidays, we will give everyone a little more time to get myself or Barry a check. Lets go with January 15. Please note there will be another assessment due around the end of March for the same amount so if anyone is truly into embracing the Christmas spirit we will accept checks for $250 at this time.

Hello. Excellent game on Sunday vs. Harleysville. Good ball movement, good communication, good finishing, good defending. Its all good!

Starting Thurs Oct 23 we will be practicing at Covered Bridge for the rest of the Fall season. Practices will remain on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 - 7:15 PM. After that other teams have the field. Remember to bring your flashlights as this is a long walk through dark woods - perfect for Halloween. If you need directions please call or e-mail me.

GAMES THIS WEEKEND:

Sat Oct 25 vs Lititz @ SEWER AUTHORITY. Game time 12:00, arrive 11:15 AM.

Sun Oct 26 @ Lower Macungie. Game time 12:00 PM, arrive 11:15 AM. Here are directions to their fields in Macungie.

The Creamery Fields - Macungie, PA

Take 309 North towards Allentown. Remain on this road until after it becomes both 309 North & 78 West. Take Exit (exit 16 in my atlas, but I don't know if it has been renumbered) for Rte 222 South - also called Hamilton Blvd. Take this to Trexlertown and Rte 100. Proceed South (left) on Route 100 to next traffic light (about one mile). Make a right at the light onto Spring Creek Road. The field complex is about 0.25 mile down on the left, just beyond the next intersection.
Bring both Black and White jerseys to all games from now on.

PAGS - Looks like our last league game is Sunday November 9. PAGS playoff game(s) will most likely be the following weekend, BUT we are at the Hempfield Tournament that weekend (Nov 15-16). I don't know how this will work out yet, but we might have a weeknight playoff game under the lights, at a neutral field?, sometime during the week of Nov 9. I will of course keep everyone in the loop on this as we get more details, and....we need to win the rest of our games to ensure we are in the playoffs.

Hempfield tournament details to follow a little later. GO HORNETS!!!

Friendly This Sunday & Welcome To A New Hornet
Our friendly this Sunday Sept 28 will be vs. the Bux-Mont FC Force at their fields in Hilltown. Game time 4:00 PM, please arrive around 3:15. Bux Mont, formerly Souderton, plays in the Premier Division of PAGS. This should be a real good game for the girls. If you want to come a little earlier, the Bux Mont U19 girls team is playing at 2:00. They are one of the top teams in Pennsylvania and they have our very own Sarah Coulton on the team too. This is outstanding, high level soccer.

We will wear Black and directions as follows:
Hilltown Civic Park is located on Route 152 north of Chalfont. Take route 152 north through Chalfont and travel until dead end at Hilltown Pike. 152 north continues by turning right onto Hilltown Pike. Travel approximately 3/4 mile to where Hilltown Pike turns sharply to the right and 152 North bears left. Bear left onto 152 north. Field is 100 yards on right hand side.

Also, I am pleased to announce that Amanda Reh will be playing with the Black Hornets as a secondary player. Amanda, better known as Pudge, will continue to practice and play with her Warminster team in ICSL, but she will also play with us on Sundays. Please welcome Pudge and parents Fran and Emil to the Hornets.

Week 4 football tickets omitted the Eagles-Bills game by accident. You can either write the game in yourself or grab corrected tickets from Pat at practice this week. It works either way.

Thanks & GO HORNETS!!!!!!!

Kirkwood & Spiritual Reflections
(click on headline to go to website)(map located under handouts tab)

Good Morning,

Great weekend at Spirit. Great teams, great effort, great games. Good stuff Hornets - these were 3 of the best teams you will ever play in one tournament - and you hung with all of them. Everyone of those teams were in tougher games than they expected from the Farmgirls of little ole Lenape Valley. Congratulations on a great weekend! BTW, Beadling won the whole thing beating Freestate 3-1 in the finals.

Kirkwood schedule - all on Field # 7

Sat        10:40 AM vs        Springfield YC Speed (VA)
Sat         4:00 PM vs        SJ Banshees East (NJ)
Sun        10:40 AM vs        Kirkwood Raiders (DE)
Sun         2:40 PM        Championship Game - we will be there!!

Directions are complicated. I will give you but I suggest you visit the Kirkwood website yourself. I used their directions, a map and Yahoo to come up with the directions below. Website is www.kirkwoodsoccer.org. Address is 1220 River Road, New Castle, DE 19720,

Blue Route to 95 South
95 South to 495 South
Exit 1 off 495 South onto Rte 13 South
Rte 13 South for 2-3 miles to left on 141 South for about 2 miles into town of New Castle
Right on River Road (Route 9)
Kirkwood Soccer Complex on right (about 1 mile from New Castle but not too sure on this distance)

Plan on close to a 90 minute drive from Chalfont. It should be less, but you never know........

Hornet Summer News
Hola,
Sorry for the constant e-mail stream what with this being our break and all, but there is lots to share.

PRACTICE - Practice will resume the first week of August. This is a longer break than usual. Staff advice - enjoy! Once we know the specific days of the week for practice we will let you know.

TOURNAMENTS - here are all tournaments through November
1 - CASA Classic in Harrisburg area (Aug 9-10). This is a "hotel" tournament. See below for reservation information.
2 - Spirit Classic in Downingtown area (Aug 23-24).
3 - Jimmy Delano Kickoff Classic in Kirkwood, DE (Aug 30-31). Note: this is a "commute" tournament.
4 - FC Beach Classic in VA Beach, VA (Oct 11-12). This is a "hotel" tournament.
5 - Hempfield Classic in Lancaster County (Nov 15-16). This is a "commute" tournament.

FALL LEAGUE - we are playing in PAGS Cup Division this fall which is a perfect spot for the Hornets. To see the alignment go to www.pags.org (click on headline). FYI....PAGS has traditionally played more Sunday games that Saturday games. I can't guarantee this will be the case this fall, but thought the heads up would be a good idea anyhow. Once we get paperwork package from PAGS, we will let everyone know as the girls will need new player passes, new 1" x 1" photos, signatures will be needed, birth certificates will have to be official ones if not already, etc. Expect to hear from us on this before too long.

VACATION SCHEDULES - I have heard from about 2/3 of you. Still need to hear from the remaining 1/3. Expect a phone call from me tonight or tomorrow if you are part of the 1/3. You can avoid this by sending me an e-mail. THANKS!

HOTEL RESERVATIONS - I am looking for a parent volunteer to take charge of the hotel reservation process. Please contact me ASAP on this. We need to act quickly on both "away" tournaments.

That's all for now....but I won't be a stranger. Adios.

Horneteers,

*        Saturday April 12        First State Cup game vs. PSC Coppa @ Sewer Authority. Time TBD.

*        Monday April 14        Outdoor Practice, etc...............

In addition, the Black Hornet Staff is looking for a Social Director - someone who will plan a monthly activity for the girls. This could be laser tag, swimming, miniature golf, whatever. If there is enough interest amongst the parents, we might even make this a rotational responsibility where there is a sign up sheet and everyone picks a month to host/put together an activity. Interested applicants should get back to me.

A reminder that the Hornet Team Camp is set for August 18 to August 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. We are hoping for as close to 100% attendance as possible. It worked wonders for the girls last year!!!

That's all for now. If anything changes or is added we will be sure to let you know.   GO HORNETS!!!!!!!

Ladies,
Way to represent LV with pride against Montgomery. Although the score does
not reflect it the percentage of possesion and work rate was certainly in our
favor. Just need to work on finding that elusive net a bit more often. So many
scoring opportunities that just slipped by. There were alot of special efforts
this game which we will need to conquer Cape May next weekend so keep those
memories fresh in your minds. Remember to touch a ball some and work on our
fitness this week!!!

Quotes from Sockerfan Forum section under U13 Girl Watcher:

"Was at Ross/Haney and did get to see alot of the U13 games. Yes the FC Coppa team did
well (only goal scored against them was in finals).
The Lenape Valley team should be one of the better teams this year just look at who they
beat to win; Reading/Berks & FC Bucks both PAGS cup teams and then FC Coppa all 1-0.
Not taking anything away from the rest of the field but those four teams will suprise alot of
other teams this year. (Just my opinion)"

"Where did this Lenape team come from? Watched them play Monday. Was impressed with
their work rate and heart. Certainly defeated some great teams along the way and that can't
be an accident. Good luck to them!"

2 Time Champions!! After a successful weekend wrapping up Colleen Reilly the
hornets stormed PSC Ross Haney knocking off Reading Berks, Buckingham,
putting aside Spirit United in a championship comeback fashion only to meet
FC Bucks (rated #2 in the state of PA) in the Semi's. Perhaps the longest
shoot out in U-13 history the ladies held touch and defeated their nemesis
on the 20th kick!!!! FC Coppa had not given up a single goal the entire
tournament but that didn't matter to the Hornets. Patience and hard work
paid off when Gen flicked a ball to Becky Clark in the perfect position to
tap it home and secure the 1-0 Championship victory in the most sought after
tournament in PA!!. Super special congrats to Breanna earning the coveted
spirit award too! Her name will be permanently inscribed on the tournament
trophy and displayed at the PSC club headquarters. This victory is so big
that Lenape is getting mentioned even in the local online soccer forums. WAY

Super Tournament at Lehigh Valley!
Girls,
WOW. Farm Girls Rule!! I believe the message is " go play select so Lenape
can come in and kick your butt"! Let's keep this up for JAGS.
- Coach Barry

Ladies, Last fall a decision was made by the coaches to provide more
activity, namely tournaments, this spring so that no one would have to go the
ICSL select teams. I think you have proved this weekend, that the Black
Hornets are as good or better than many of the local league select teams.
Your courage and effort provides some of the most exciting soccer I have seen
this year. I honestly believe that we were as good as the team we lost to in
the shoot out. They were as good as the team they played in the championship.
Your hard work has really paid off. Let remember, we can still get better.
Your efforts should continue to reap even more benefits. Keep it up!

Coach Bob

The Black Hornets played superbly at the premeir level at the Lehigh Valley tournament. Winning 3 games against select teams and playing the fourth to a 1-1 tie and taking the game to a shootout in the semi-finals. The girls defeated IGSL Select 4-0, UBSL Select White 5-0 and PAGS Select White 1-0 to win their division. In the semi-finals they played PAGS Select Red to a 1-1 tie after OT but then went down in the shootout 4-3. What a super weekend girls!! Colleen Coulten was injured on a super play at the PAGS goal when she collided with the PAGS goalie and twisted her ankle late in the second half of the game. Way to give it your all Colleen!! Barry said X-Rays showed that the ankle is not broken but Collen will need to rest it until after we come back from our vacation break in Mid- July. Speedy recovery to Colleen and Carly Hecht. Get some rest and get healthy girls, we need you back soon!!

*** Updated*** I forgot to mention Ashley Klun's hat trick plus 1. Way to go Ash, 4 goals in one game was awesome!!! I think you deserve a Hornet Hat for that Hat Trick!!! - the Webmaster

2ndcup
What a great weekend of soccer! Maybe not the result we had hoped for, but
lets not lose site of the things we accomplished as a team. First of all four
very exciting and competitive games. Three wins against teams at that level
is HUGE! We organized very well offensively and defensively think our fitness
is getting much better. How we played as a team is what carried us through
this weekend, yes there were many superb individual efforts. Picking an MVP
will not be easy. You all deserve one as far as I am concerned.
Thanks for an awesome job!!! Coach Mike

Hornets take First Place at MSA Shoot for the Cure
1st place medal
Hornets,

Excellent effort at Montgomery this weekend. You have been knocking at the
door all spring. It feels nice to be on the winning side this time around.
Defense...no goals allowed! We are seeing the rewards of our efforts in a new
defense. Many Thanks to Erica in goal. You played very well. Amber and
Rachael with two goals each, well done ladies. Kacey and Genevieve with a
goal each. Each of you listened and made adjustments suggested by coaches and
you played well for 4 games. Ladies, you made all of the parents and coaches
proud. I would call this a great team effort.

Coach Bob

WAY TO GO HORNETS!!
There is one sure way to win a tournament...and that is to give up NO goals!
What a superb job the defense did. The pressure/cover defending was
excellent, not to forget a focused goalie. Add the offensive attack we had
yesterday with that and that equals a championship.
Girls you were a dominating team yesterday and have proven that you are ready
for the next level. This is one big step in that direction. So let's take
this Little Lenape Valley Farm Club and move forward! Girls thank you for all
your hard work, you made it a GREAT day for all of us.
                                          Coach Mike

Great job ladies!!!!!!!!! Your play Sunday was nothing short of amazing..I am so proud of you, but more then that..I am very happy that you had a chance to taste VICTORY, it is soooooooooo sweeeeeet.!!!!!!

Black Hornets,
Outstanding soccer this weekend girls! The passing was crisp. The
organization was good. The effort was superb! I know that each and every
Hornet on the field did their absolute best to bring home a trophy and we
did. There are six other teams who were unable to accomplish this. Keep
working hard in practice. Your efforts show during the games we play. During
the last game I overheard the line judge talking quietly as he watched us
attack..."nice move, good pass,..." It was obvious, he was impressed with our
play. When the referees are noticing our play like that, you know that you
are getting better and better.
We, as coaches and parents, are proud of you all!

Don't Forget Your Hornet Warm-up!

Black Hornets Take Second Place at Southhampton
2ndcup
Ladies,
Whew...another one that got away but let's stay positive! You can't much closer
to a championship than overtime huh? The lesson is clear that the better team
doesn't always get the trophy and trophies are NEVER easy to achieve!!

However, the ability to adjust to the 4-4-2 formation was great! We really created
some good opportunities on the flank and clogged up the middle defensively.
The wall passing and support off the ball in the final game was more than we
could have expected. We are organizing better and better around the ball. Remember
the individual goals we set for each game and consider how each of us can work
to improve in those areas. They will be the keys to succeeding every time we
step on the field. Keep practicing.

Besides pride, loyalty, discipline, heart, and mind, confidence is the key to
all the locks!!
