Hornets Win Haslet Columbus day tournament
Hornet Fan Club
.
First off
Great tournament weekend...another super achievement by the girls
AGAIN. The coaches are very proud of the heart and effort as well as the tactical efforts they continue to improve upon.
A reminder of this weeks schedule:
Tuesday: Training 5:30 until dark
Saturday: Training 10am until Noon
Sunday: Match against F.C. Bucks 15F (AWAY) Time and location still TBD so please plan for a game Sunday afternoon. I will forward specifics the moment I receive them!
Finances:
Thanks to diligent fundraising 2004 has been an awesome experience for the ladies! The additional trainers are great and our tournament schedule was really fulfilling. We also have (nicer) new shorts and socks (coming any day) as well as the water bottles handed out Sunday as an added extra for the team. That and a continuously restocked medical kit of late. This is a great accomplishment as we have required fewer personal dollars spent in the last 12 months than ever before thanks to all of the parents chipping in!!
Moving forward into 2005 we still have some reserve dollars but need to add to it to continue paying bills moving forward. We will be collecting $150 from each family due no later than November 7th. I could REALLY use a volunteer to collect and track the money for me. I will handle getting it into our account once we have the total sum in hand.
November:
Starting Wednesday November 8th we will be practicing indoor at Christopher Dock form 6:30 until 8PM each Wednesday through November 17th. We will also continue our Saturday mornings from 10 till noon.
Indoor:
We will be playing in the Saturday morning Christopher Dock High School league in January and February. Games are Saturday mornings and they occur, generally, every other week. We will slip in a few tournaments as always for fun too! League play will probably start on Saturday January 8.
Indoor Cups are Saturday January 29th at the Lanco Field House
PLEASE BE SURE TO NOTE THIS! We need a full team to compete and have struggled in the past for numbers at cups.
Bad News: (saved it till last)
We LOST our rental contract for Christopher Dock for the winter months. Although we booked in early August we were bumped last week by a CYO basketball league that demanded our Wednesday slots as part of their needs. Unfortunately they represent more rental time and dollars than we do so we lost that battle. The worst of it is that by this time of year it is nearly impossible to find training facilities indoor. We have contacted all of the venues we are aware of and are in dire need for an answer. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas PLEASE share them with us. We need to find a solution!
Thx a million!

Summer Stuff.....
Hornet family...
Just in case the summer sun and fun has affected our memories (it has mine
for sure) a reminder that we resumed practice tonight and will continue
throughout the summer from 6pm until 8pm every Tuesday and Thursday in
preparation for our August tournaments and, of course, the upcoming fall
season.
Attached are respective schedules in Excel for your quick glance
convenience. If for some reason your email does not allow attachments please
let us know so we can provide you with hard copies. They contain a lot of
detail and all dates are very, very important!
Please note within the schedule that we will be having our annual team camp
on August 16th through the 19th from 5pm until 8pm. This annual camp serves
the players so well as it provides in depth touches and preparation heading
into our tournament schedules. We will have Brian, Kellie and even an
additional trainer or 2 so the girls will get some nice special attention
and a solid week of hard work, education and fun.
Additionally please remember to ALWAYS notify your respective coaches of any
activities you cannot attend. Since we only have 13 scheduled training
sessions prior to the season start each one has measurable value for the
players and teams so attendance is paramount as is working on fitness and
touches on our own.
Hope summer is going great for all! It was great to get back out with the
ladies tonight!
"Never look back and feel you haven't succeeded, but do to see what you have
learned. Always look forward, with what you have learned and see success in
your future now"

A message form the Hornet Training Staff:
First off....positive thought for today....
" I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed; and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying."
Just a reminder that weeknight practices start next Tuesday April 6 and continue every Tuesday & Thursday throughout the Spring. Start time is 5:45 PM. In the beginning we will practice until dark. Practices are at Sewer Authority.
To best achieve our individual and team goals Hornet Practice Objectives are back in place: Upon arrival all players shall have a ball (inflated please, work through their Hornet Warm up appropriately, stretch, 3 anaerobic runs, stretch and 6x50 sprints. This is solely the players responsibility!) The trainers will then take over the sessions. All sessions will end with 15 minutes of a perimeter run followed by a warm down. Just a reminder to refresh everyone's memory!
Also a reminder that each player needs to communicate any and all absences from practice to Barry, Brian, Kellie and myself. Training is paramount to our successes as teams so please coordinate your schedules as needed to keep our attendance at a successful level.
and a final positive thought...
Show me a player who's afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a player you can beat every time!!

Black Hornet Season End/ New Season Snippets!
*** HORNET BULLETIN ***
1) Just wanted to let everyone know what the Black Hornet staff will
look like when we re-convene in July as a U15F team.
Head Coach - Barry Coulton
Trainer/Team & Personal Goals - Kellie Woolcock
Professional Trainer - Brian Hearn
Communication Guru - Barry Coulton
League and Tournament Registrar - Rob Irons
Finance and Budget Director - TBD
Webmaster - Bill Connolly
2) We will of course still have a fund raising committee, but ideally
this will be a rotating group as 2-3 Mom's should not do it all. Next
possible money raiser - did I hear car wash?
3) We still need a Fashion Coordinator to help with new uniforms as
needed, bags as needed, sweatsuits as needed, etc. Please let Barry
know if you are interested!
4) PRACTICES will start up again on Tuesday July 13 @ 6 PM at Sewer
Authority. We will practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings through the
Fall.
5) We will be having a Team Camp from Monday Aug 16 - Thurs Aug 19,
all four nights from 5 - 8 PM @ COVERED BRIDGE. Coaches Brian & Kellie will be
the principal trainers. Attendance is very strongly encouraged!! Cost is included in parent assessments.
6) August/Labor Day Tournaments scheduled (see attached calendar too).
a) Beattie/Wertz Tournament (Council Rock) - Aug 21-22
b) Spirit Kickoff (Downingtown) - Aug 28-29
c) CASA Classic (Harrisburg) - Sept 4-5 {hotel weekend}
7) We are in the PAGS CUP Division again in the Fall. Go to
www.pags.org for more information. The weird thing, for now, is that
they are not showing a Premier Division and they have 24 teams in the
Cup Division, so stay tuned form more clarity on division structure and
our schedule.
Next week I will send out some fun statistics that you might like.
The year-end detailed budget will hopefully be circulated in July.
Thanks everyone! GO HORNETS - kick butt in PAGS and then have a
wonderful soccer break!!!!!

Hornet Ambassadors....THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Hi Folks,
Was contacted by Mike Freed today regarding our Canada adventure. He apologized for the late notice but needs a commitment from us to move forward. As a friend he is willing to accept a small deposit of $35 per person at this time for the tournament fee and to reserve the bus. We can cover that up front but need to get a pretty firm commitment from the families attending. For those interested there are many options for traveling along as well.
Please keep in mind that this trip is designed specifically around the girls as a team function providing them the opportunity to spend lots of fun time together, see new sites and play the game they so enjoy. Because that is the plan each player is required to pay for the mini-tour (which of course entitles them to all of the amenities and activities). Parents may choose to drive separately, book there own rooms and organize their weekend any way they want. I plan to drive separately myself and leave with Colleen and Trisha from the tournament to vacation.
That said I would like to mention that when asked the girls from each team have mentioned to the coaches that they really really want to go so here is a suggestion...some of the players have mentioned that they have not even had any discussion with their parents regarding this opportunity to date so...please CAREFULLY REVIEW the inserted package with your Hornet and discuss it as a family. I am confident that we, as a parent team, can work out any details to make this a success whether it be money raising, chaperones or whatever...I think it would set a great example to our girls if we were to rally as a parent team to make this a reality for them. If the majority of both teams go and we book 4 players to a room we can really reduce the costs too! If we don't get a minimum commitment of 13 - 14 players per team we will unfortunately have to cancel and that would be unfortunate.
If you have any questions at all please give me a shout. This is the only time we will plan this trip as we want to start planning longer term for a Europe or similar opportunity in 2-3 years.
Thx!
Barry

Important Hornet Program Update...
Hi folks!!
Just a review of last night's practice and the assignments and goals the staff is working to really pull the team up a notch in 2004 and make our soccer experiences more rewarding as players and teams...practice was fun in that we revisited some good stuff like player demonstrations and pairing up with teammates to learn more about each other. Especially our newest Hornets. The insights and ideas from the players was really inspiring so we are excited to get started right away.
The coaches are going to take advantage of having an expanded staff to help get each and every player to be their 'soccer best'! We have decided to establish some near term goals with some end dates to get us into spring in great fashion.
1. Rules are rules so be sure to follow them...rule infractions will result in consequences (coach Brian is in charge of determining)...for the entire team! So remember...
- Proper uniform and warm ups at ALL Hornet events
- Bring a ball to every indoor session
- READ and REPLY to emails when required ASAP (still 5 surveys out and that is very disappointing to us)
- Arrive at practice dressed to play
- Pink, Green and Warm up sheets are with you at ALL practices....you never know when we will plan to use them.
2. Green sheets due by end of practice March 17....we will work as much as any Hornet wants at practice to be sure we succeed! That's the beauty of multiple trainers with lots of energy!
3. Practice begins upon arrival with the Hornet Warmup followed by individual work on green sheet items...you can get alot of items checked off quickly this way! You DO NOT need to have them checked off at home any more...just at practice or otherwise.
4. Achievement sheets will be distributed to the team to help us keep track of our goals and accomplishments as well as those of our team mates. (Kellie will be taking this task on and will work with each player as much as they want!)
5. All trainers will fill out practice evaluations and review them together each week.
The goal is to get back to helping each player get the most (that they want) out of being a part of the program. Great stuff!!
MOST IMPORTANTLY...
There will be NO exceptions to any of the above...
If you want to speak to any of the trainers at any time feel free to send them a message...we plan to interact as much as possible. Many Hornets have been doing this already as a result of our surveys and that has been super!
the Hornet Staff
Friday, February 6
Another important update.....MOVIE NIGHTS!
Hi team....
By popular demand we are planning movie nights for NEXT WEEK.
Monday night GOLD Hornets
Thursday night BLACK Hornets
Coach Kellie will be stopping by to get to know the girls better, ask and answer questions, eat popcorn and have some fun. The movie most suggested was Finding Nemo so that looks like the entertainment for the evening(s).
Where: Coulton Crib (call for directions if necessary)
Time: 6:30 until 9PM...Parents are free to stay and hang out together too!! (upstairs where it's quiet!)
Some good winter fun indeed!! See you there!!
Also...we were thinking it might be fun to take advantage of coach Barry's recording studio and have the girls make up and record a song sometime...YIKES! If you're interested we can plan a night for that too! Let us know...
See you there!

Tentative Black Hornet Spring Schedule
Greetings from the Hornet Sports Center,
As promised, here is a rough idea of our Spring Schedule. We are looking at a full slate of soccer activities, hopefully some social activities and of course some fund raising activities. We are continuing along our path of trying to provide the best training we can and play against very challenging competition. In talking to the girls and reading their surveys, the consensus is that the vast majority of the girls are extremely committed to the Hornets and to soccer. As such, the Black Hornet schedule will remain very active with an eye on those girls with the most commitment and having an interest in playing lots of soccer. Its all good!!
PRACTICES:
Saturday mornings starting in mid to late March (weather permitting) and continuing through mid-June - we will practice on every Saturday morning that we are not playing a game or participating in a tournament; time TBD. Weeknight practices will begin after daylight savings and be 2 nights per week; nights TBD.
STATE CUPS:
We have entered the Snickers Cup again - a single elimination tournament against the best teams in eastern PA. The first (and hopefully not the only) game will probably take place in late March.
SPRING LEAGUE:
We have entered the JAGS Spring League which is comprised mostly of high quality teams from New Jersey. There should be around 6 games, starting in late March/early April and going through May.
TOURNAMENTS:
April 10 - Southampton One Day Before Easter Tournament
May 1 & 2 - Red Rose Classic in Lancaster @ F&M College. A possible overnight trip?
May 8-10 - YMS Epic in Yardley.
May 28-30 - Virginian Memorial Day Tournament (yes we are going to try it again and we are asking for a parent volunteer to make reservations at a hotel that doesn't charge you if the event is cancelled)
June 11-13 - PAGS Classic in Downingtown
We might throw in a couple of friendly scrimmage games too.
We will take our summer break after the PAGS Classic and get back together in mid-July so that we have a couple of weeks to prep for the Ottawa trip.
All in all, this is an active schedule and a fun schedule. Once we know more dates and times we will send out the oh so cool calendars!
We are looking forward to more good times in Hornetville! GO HORNETS!!!!!!!!

Sunday was some of the best indoor soccer I have seen the girls play. The passing was sweet and there was no question about who wanted to win the ball or the game. Excellent stuff ladies!

Quotes from SockerFan.com
Quotes from Sockerfan Forum section under U13 Girl Watcher:
"Was at Ross/Haney and did get to see alot of the U13 games. Yes the FC Coppa team did
well (only goal scored against them was in finals).
The Lenape Valley team should be one of the better teams this year just look at who they
beat to win; Reading/Berks & FC Bucks both PAGS cup teams and then FC Coppa all 1-0.
Not taking anything away from the rest of the field but those four teams will suprise alot of
other teams this year. (Just my opinion)"
"Where did this Lenape team come from? Watched them play Monday. Was impressed with
their work rate and heart. Certainly defeated some great teams along the way and that can't
be an accident. Good luck to them!"
Way to go, girls!!! - the WebMaster.

LV Hornets are the Ross-Haney 2002 U13/14 Champs!!!
HARD WORK HAS PAID OFF!!!!!!!!YOU SHOULD ALL BE VERY PROUD OF WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED. CHAMPIONS AGAIN!
LENAPE VALLEY BLACK HORNETS YOUR FUTURE IS VERY BRIGHT!! COACH MIKE
2 Time Champions!! After a successful weekend wrapping up Colleen Reilly the
hornets stormed PSC Ross Haney knocking off Reading Berks, Buckingham,
putting aside Spirit United in a championship comeback fashion only to meet
FC Bucks (rated #2 in the state of PA) in the Semi's. Perhaps the longest
shoot out in U-13 history the ladies held touch and defeated their nemesis
on the 20th kick!!!! FC Coppa had not given up a single goal the entire
tournament but that didn't matter to the Hornets. Patience and hard work
paid off when Gen flicked a ball to Becky Clark in the perfect position to
tap it home and secure the 1-0 Championship victory in the most sought after
tournament in PA!!. Super special congrats to Breanna earning the coveted
spirit award too! Her name will be permanently inscribed on the tournament
trophy and displayed at the PSC club headquarters. This victory is so big
that Lenape is getting mentioned even in the local online soccer forums. WAY
TO GO!!! This is only the beginning girls! -Coach Barry

Subject: What a win!
Ok...so we go early for Taylor's game...only to watch the greatest PK's
battle! What a semi-final win for your team.
Then we decide to stay AFTER her game to watch yet another great game.
WOW! From someone who was standing up on the hill, with a bunch of philly
parents (hey...watch it, i'm from philly!)...they were all quite
impressed, and rightly so.
Your team played their hearts out...left everything on that field! Your
keeper is fantastic! Your defense held the line and your mid and top just
worked their butts off. What a win for you and your team.
Please pass on our congrats (Taylor & Tierney watched too!)

Hornets battle to 2nd Place at Hampton 2002
What a great weekend of soccer! Maybe not the result we had hoped for, but
lets not lose site of the things we accomplished as a team. First of all four
very exciting and competitive games. Three wins against teams at that level
is HUGE! We organized very well offensively and defensively think our fitness
is getting much better. How we played as a team is what carried us through
this weekend, yes there were many superb individual efforts. Picking an MVP
will not be easy. You all deserve one as far as I am concerned.
Thanks for an awesome job!!! Coach Mike

Hornets take First Place at MSA Shoot for the Cure
Hornets,
Excellent effort at Montgomery this weekend. You have been knocking at the
door all spring. It feels nice to be on the winning side this time around.
Defense...no goals allowed! We are seeing the rewards of our efforts in a new
defense. Many Thanks to Erica in goal. You played very well. Amber and
Rachael with two goals each, well done ladies. Kacey and Genevieve with a
goal each. Each of you listened and made adjustments suggested by coaches and
you played well for 4 games. Ladies, you made all of the parents and coaches
proud. I would call this a great team effort.
Coach Bob
WAY TO GO HORNETS!!
There is one sure way to win a tournament...and that is to give up NO goals!
What a superb job the defense did. The pressure/cover defending was
excellent, not to forget a focused goalie. Add the offensive attack we had
yesterday with that and that equals a championship.
Girls you were a dominating team yesterday and have proven that you are ready
for the next level. This is one big step in that direction. So let's take
this Little Lenape Valley Farm Club and move forward! Girls thank you for all
your hard work, you made it a GREAT day for all of us.
Coach Mike
Great job ladies!!!!!!!!! Your play Sunday was nothing short of amazing..I am so proud of you, but more then that..I am very happy that you had a chance to taste VICTORY, it is soooooooooo sweeeeeet.!!!!!!
