Welcome to Lufkin Youth Baseball Association


Vision:
Lufkin Youth Baseball provides a quality baseball program for the youth of East Texas.

Mission Statement:
Lufkin Youth Baseball is committed to maintain and manage a cost effective, safe and enjoyable recreation program. It is our intention to provide a program, in the tradition of Lufkin Youth Baseball, which teaches baseball fundamentals, respect, sportsmanship, descipline, teamwork, leadership and a competitive spirit, all of which will assist our youth in becoming responsible and productive adults.

The program is designed for players ages 4 through 19 years old.

Go to the Tournament Link on the left side of the page and see all of the postings for LYBA Tournaments for the Spring and Fall! We will have a variey of Open Tournaments, Super Series and USSSA Qualifiers and some All-Star Tournaments.

2009 Spring/Summer League Signups

LYBA is now registering players for the Spring/Summer League.  The costs per player are as follows:

     *   Farm League and Older Players             $ 85.00 per player

          ($20 per child less for EACH additional player)

     *   Tee Ball League                                   $ 75.00 per player

     *   PREP League                                      $ 60.00 per player

 

Registration will be held at the dates, locations and times listed below:

     ^   February 7th            Academy Sports          10:00 AM until 2:00 PM

     ^   February 14th           AAA Sports                 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM

     ^   February 21st           Academy Sports          10:00 AM until 2:00 PM

     ^   February 28th           Academy Sports          10:00 AM until 2:00 PM

NOTE:  There will be a $10.00 PER PLAYER late fee accessed after February 28th!

LYBA Facts and History

Lufkin Youth Baseball Association was formed in the early 1950's with Eugene Brookshire being the first President. The continued success of the league organization is contributed to several early pioneers. These People paved the way for others to follow a much easier road. Lufkin Youth Baseball has grown from just a very few to over 900 participants. With the spirit and determination of Pitser Garrison, after whom our field was named, Eugene Brookshire, Bill Windsor, Buck Bradley, Cecil Muckelroy, Roy Sinclair, Irma Franklin, Bud Maddux, Judy Maddux, Bill Berry, Opal and Red Patrick, Reba and W.Z. Hutson, Shirley and Dale Hunter, Dick Sims, W.A. Dempsey, George Griffith, Kenneth Welch, Bubba Holland, Sandy Bate, Bubba Wood, Bob Kelley, Charles and Ruth Cowart, Meb Todd, Ray and Paulette Turner and countless others our field of competitiveness, descipline and determination has certainly been brought forth.

* Lufkin Pony Boys Won the 1957 Little League World Series
* Lufkin Pony Grad Won the 1959 Little League World Series

* Haylen Hardy - 1984 holds the record for the most Grand Slam homeruns in the Dixie   Boys World Series (1)
* Lufkin Pre-Majors Won the 1982, 1983, and 1990 World Series
* Shane Tatum - 1990 holds the record for the most hits in a Dixie Pre-Majors World Series
* Chad Alexander - 1990 holds the record for the most home runs in a Dixie Pre-Majors World Series (2)
* Lufkin, Texas holds the record for the most home runs by a team 1981 (3)
* Lufkin, Texas holds the record for the most Pre-Majors World Series Won by a league - 1982, 1983, 1990
* Lufkin Majors Won the World Series in 1977, 1984, 1985, and 1993
* Record for the most hits in a Dixie Majors World Series is held by Chris Cauley - 1983 (4), Jeff Jordan - 1984 (4), and Shane Dixon -1986 (4) Eddie Mathews - 1983 holds the record for the most 2 base hits (4)

* Ron Dempsey played in the first National Amateur All-Star Baseball Tournament. Ron Won the Big Stick Top Hitter Trophy and $2000.00 for Dixie Baseball - 1993
* Robert Keens played in the second National Amateur All-Star Baseball Tournament - 1994
* Bud Maddux holds the record for the most Winning coach with 20 Dixie State Championships and 9 World Series Championships
* Jeff Jordan and Brad Hunter played on 5 World Series Championship Teams
